I am not either....seems like a simple money grab there.....

Overall I think they would have done better with a DX release priced at 299.00

I know I'm in the extreme minority with this, but I personally think an Endor Luke does warrant an entirely separate figure.

I mean really, how many completely different looks can you possibly have for just one figure (one body), before you eventually just settle on a particular look and the separate outfits are merely collecting dust? Is anyone really going to be constantly switching back and forth between the cloak at Jabba's Palace, tunic on Jabba's sail barge, Endor gear, and DS final duel?

For all intents and purposes, this figure is already almost similar to a DX release in terms of what you get, in my opinion. You essentially get three different display outfits, which in my opinion is more than enough options for one figure. With the DX07, you at least got two separate complete figures; it'd be comparable to that including only one body but still including the BD fatigues and its accessories, along with all the three different display base options and maybe even throw in the backpack he had on Dagobah that carried Yoda, but you only have one figure to work with.

Had they done a separate figure release simply for his DS look and the tunic on Jabba's sail barge look, I think that would have been a big time stiff. However, choosing between this version and the Endor version seems pretty fair to me.

With this one, you can acheive: DS look, tunic, cloak. With the Endor one, you can acheive: Endor look, DS look.

Pick one.

I'm still trying to figure out when I order Endor Luke will it because I'm getting the SS Speeder bike or did I order the Speeder bike because I will be getting the Endor Luke? :dunno

Is it ludicrous for HT to include 2 bodies for a DX release now? They could've just done that.

Yeah (in theory at least) ROTJ Luke probably justified a two body DX release more than the ESB Bespin version. That release was the same character in the exact same outfit, just beaten up, though the weather vane did help define it as two distinct displays.

With ROTJ Luke it's obviously a base look with additions, but for "iconic display" purposes to me there are two distinct looks, plus two "sub-looks" that could be easily swapped out to freshen the display: Tatooine vest/tabs look with and without the hooded cloak (Palace or Rancor/Sail Barge,) and Death Star black bodysuit look with and without Endor helmet/Poncho (he wears the vest/tabs under the Poncho, but you can't see it and it would bulk up the Poncho display look too much.)

A two fig set (and a few bonuses like a windswept hairpiece) based around this would have been great. Those two looks/sub-looks take care of all the iconic Luke moments (I know he wears the vest/tabs at Dagobah, Briefing and Ewok village etc, but few would display Luke in those scenes.)

To me that could have worked as a Bespin-style two-pack that had all the ROTJ displays you want, but that ESB release is many years ago (before they got the full license I think so maybe trying to prove a point) and HT would be crazy to release ROTJ Luke as a two-pack. It's a character you can milk forever so why release a $350 two pack when you can release two figs for a total of $450+?

:exactly:

It's not like that never occurred to me; why not just release a DX version of RotJ Luke with two figures like DX07? DX07 was released several years ago and they have not done a set like that since that I can think of. I don't imagine they would start now with a character such as Luke that can be milked for all of what it's worth.

Without them actually doing another DX07 style set, I personally think these two RotJ Luke options are relatively fair, as I mentioned. With this figure alone, you get three different display options.

I'll probably cave and get the endor version too, otherwise I would have tried for 2 of the black outfits to make my own endor version. At least the head is different.

Yeah, and in the end, it's only about $100 more for the two ROTJ Lukes - though you KNOW there will be a third ROTJ Luke variant coming some time later with that "must-have" new headsculpt... or funeral pyre dio.:gah::lol

I'll probably cave and get the endor version too, otherwise I would have tried for 2 of the black outfits to make my own endor version. At least the head is different.

They are mainline releases, so I assume Toy Anxiety will get a ton of them, so lots of opportunities to get parts and outfits (unlike many of the newer or re-release Sideshow figs where TA just doesn't get them.)

Personally to me, Endor Luke is a variant. I'd imagine his two more desired, iconic looks from this film are DS and tunic; probably the former slightly more than the latter.

However, Endor Leia to me is her most iconic look to represent her from RotJ.

Even if they were to make this a DX I would probably still have to buy 2 to display all the versions of ROTJ Luke I want. I ended up buying 2 of these just so I can display him in his Jedi cloak/rode look and his final battle look. Then I would still need an Endor look. On top of that, now I'm going to have to get some more display cases and my cookies are too crunchy...my life is hard.

I still think we will get a prisoner Leia before it's all said and done. I know there has been a lot rumors about Disney not liking the outfit but if it makes $, then it makes cents. Disney is the same company that produced bad Santa. So I think they will make anything if it makes enough money.

Because I don't really collect PT or ST stuff - only OT (well, 95%) - I really want (and have a bit more room to display) nearly all the versions of the HT heroes. While Endor/Poncho isn't my fave look for ROTJ Luke, I would still want DS duel, tunic/vest (prob with cape) and Endor for my display.

The most iconic look for ROTJ Luke for me is the entry to Jabba's throne room, but I know for most it's the lapel/flap-down DS duel look. I just love the mystery of the first time we see Luke in ROTJ and entering the throne room in cloak.

They are not rumors. Disney will not okay a figure of Slave Leia. So Hot Toys will not make it. Period.

But there are plenty of variations of Leia to make instead.

As of Jedi Luke... I bought two because I simply cannot choose only one look for him to display. I did the same with the Sideshow Jedi Luke all those years ago. And it doesn't bother me that Hot Toys didn't do a two-figure set. I will probably buy the Endor Luke when it becomes available. I'm pathetic like that.

Though I do miss the grandeur of that first Hot Toys Star Wars offering. Two figures, the weather vane and Vader/Luke head accessory. And it sold for around $300. Those were the days.

I'm not too fussed about Slave Leia, but would be very tempted if HT did her Boushh disguise.

It's unfortunate that HT have become less generous since Bespin Luke was released. That's an incredible set, even though I only display one of the figures at a time. I'll most likely only get one ROTJ Luke, since I'd like to create a display with one Luke from each movie.

Bespin Luke is indeed one of the best sets HT has released to this date in my opinion. However, I didn't have a need to have the entire set in my collection, so I just kept the clean figure with the blaster on the Bespin themed base, and sold the rest of the set to TonTon.
