Awesome Talibane! I want to achieve this look , but i findthat the jacket is not that easy to work with, and to shape. Weathering is done, futzing too. I haven't spent too much time on it, but i'm sure it will happen someday.

I agree on the lack of a grappling gun and "ATAT-killer" grenade - really no excuse for the price; the reason I researched/made them (and I thought I had solved that problem for everyone, but thanks to a bs SSF ban, that got sunk:mad:) The unhelmeted head is indeed strange, but to call the helmeted headsculpt "atrocious" is a real stretch. I'd agree on the Luke X head, maybe agree on the extra Luke Hoth head - but no way on this helmeted head. It captures Hamill really quite nicely and the apps are close to HT quality.

But I agree that something went slightly awry - in a number of ways - with the Snowspeeder utility belt beyond them forgetting the leg strap. But the HT belt has some inaccuracies of its own.

The HT DX boots are not accurate for the Snowspeeder battle scenes (which this fig was mostly intended to portray, even though they did show a couple of Dago pics) at least without a fair amount of modding. He does wear the thinner boots in a couple of shots on Hoth, but they are a paler/white version, or have the bright white straps, not the beige/brown versions seen on Dagobah.

I've been working up a Dago arrival display variation - trying to match the pic I loved as a little kid.

I'm currently experimenting with various tweaks to the hair and face on the unhelmeted sculpt - may try some lighter highlights on the hair (but all the HT Lukes have fairly dark hair.) This is a scratch-built version of the unique "Muppet Show" style blaster he is holding in that shot, not the regular blaster that came with the figure (people may not have noticed, but the balster that came with this fig is an all-new sculpt, not the same one released with Luke Hoth.) This is the WIP under flat/bright lighting:

nice work Talibane I`m working on making a custom of this. I just scored the luke x-wing suit off TA and those cylinders that go around the leg as well. I have custom orange jacket a friend made for me for walrus man but going to use it on this project. I need to find those hoth boots if any one wants to sell an extra pair. and currently eyeing some hoth luke gloved hands and the wrist gauntlets. hopefully I can get them this week when I get paid hope there still there.

wow! that looks excellent Talibane... I wish I can achieve the same Luke :clap

Thanks, yeah I think the unhelmeted head can be tweaked toward something that looks decent. It's a super odd looking head without mods.

The issue is that the real costume was pretty thin slicker material, but with thermal gear under it, so it crinkles very subtly over the thicker garment. Due to limitations of scale, the jacket would be translucent at 1/6 - the reason SSC did the double lining. It does futz a bit in the arms, especially with the gauntlet/gloves on like in this pic where he's in Hoth mode:

So when are you doing a run of the grappling guns and selling them?

Weeeelp... I had planned to approach SSF member Enaud (who does the cleanest/finest casts I've ever seen) to cast the grappling gun, the ATAT-killer grenade and possibly also the very unique "Muppet Show"-style blaster luke uses in a couple of shots after Dagobah arrival and offer them unpainted at whatever Enaud's cost was (yes, the paint is quite elaborate on the grappling gun and grenade, but I figured people could do whatever level they could pull off - eg the grey, black and silver are the only crucial elements on the grappling gun)

I did a lot of research to make all three very close to 100% accurate - which was not easy. None of those three props have ever been pictured in any SW reference book, and are very hard to see onscreen.

Then my bs SSF ban happened and I was all done here so I went ahead and did all the elaborate/delicate paint apps on them (which would be damaged by casting.) Then... the Tali-"ban" turns out to be a suspension or whatever (STILL no answer from admin to my detailed query/complaint - nearly two months after sending) and here we are. Perfect %$&*ing timing.:mad::mad:

keep us posted on if you make some grappling guns Talibane that would be sweet

Exploring if a buddy of mine can 3D scan the pieces to create a digital file that can then be 3D printed. That way it doesn't mess up the paint like casting would. Hopefully they can be printed at a resolution that won't create all those little lines we saw on the Shapeways ANH stunt stormie helmet printouts.

Yeah Talibane nice pictures and grapple gun! It'd be great to have one. It should've been included for $270. Nice job on your figure. [emoji106]

sweet I hope your friend can make this happen would like to have one to go with my custom luke. I was going through my sideshow luke hoth box and found an extra pair of hot toys dx07 bespin boots that I did them up like the hoth version back then forgot I had them they had to been sitting in there all this time and thought I used the last pair on another project. I painted those straps white might try to loosen them up and make them look like those that came with hoth luke maybe.

Took mine off the shelf today to change the pose. First three pictures are of the current pose I've had for a while now, and the last one is the new pose I came up with:

Excellent pictures, Indy! Cool new avatar as well.

Thanks man! I was watching Man of Steel again this past weekend, and when that part came on (my favorite scene in the movie) I thought it would make a cool avatar. [emoji106] Matches my username too. It also matches yours! For the other forums I'm on, I have Indiana Jones avatars.

I'd love to have one of these but I'm finding crazy secondary market prices...yikes!

They might end up doing another run at some point. Or "V2" with some updates. If there's less accessories though, it would be crazy to charge $270. Hopefully they drop the price.

I dream of that scenario every night ! Unfortunately I think it'll stay just like that...........only a dream :)

I guess there's a chance for that, as they've done it for other figures before like Vader, Fett, Bossk, Jawas, etc. Especially since there seemed to be so little of this made to begin with, along with how it's been overall well received.

Nice!

Yeah, that's one of my favorite moments in the film as well. Very powerful and emotional scene. Despite the criticism that the current rendition of Superman receives for being too "dark", he couldn't have looked more like a beacon of hope any more to me than he did in that particular scene. Scenes like that from the film is why I'll never part with my MoS Supes.

The image is indeed essentially the Cavill equivalent of my Reeve avatar, although I don't believe Reeve is flying in mine, just merely looking up. :lol
