The only problem I see with the figure is the helmet, everything about the helmet. If they fix that helmet, I'll buy.

Same here. But that helmet is hideous. A small pumpkin painted white and with a bit of mustard would look better.

Their production figures tend to be not as good as the prototype so I don't know if people will actually buy it. If Hot Toys releases theirs I will buy it for sure.

Definitely the main issue is the helmet, but I swear the chest plate is much larger than the HT promo. Unless I am being fooled by the shabby futzing done with the figure.

They didn't have much information when I asked... I thought the one we saw last year was by HT; so seeing it on the Sideshow stand and them confirming it was a Sideshow figure was a surprise. I will say it looked decent in person, but as others' have noted the head is not so good... similar to their Snowtrooper. I did appreciate that the gloves didn't look like oven mitts, so that's a positive.
For the mask is sort of looks like it got mishapen... like if you heated it up and pushed the mask forward it might look correct, or at least better.

However people try and sugarcoat it, this figure just isn't good enough plain and simple. When your paying upwards of £200 for a figure, you want it to display a level of accuracy that's very close to the original character and costume. These does nether IMO.

I'm mostly surprised either HT or Sideshow was interested in making it... it's pretty obscure of a look even by SW standards. But agreed, if you're going to make it then at least make it right.

Yeah it's such a shame that the figure has morphed into this horrible version. I well up with sadness every time I see this comparison pic of the 2 versions and realise what could have been. I mean how can they get it so wrong!!

I'm relly surprised SS hasn't made any mention of this since the show. I mean it is clearly an issue that collectors are talking about. Then again when was the last time SS cared about CS, at least openly.
It is funny how there seems to be no "go-to" people at Sideshow anymore - where you can ask an upcoming product question and get a definitive or even informed answer. I've asked CS people upcoming product questions several times in the past two years and the answer is always "no information," even for items about to ship. There used to be SSC people on this forum, and also doing Q and A's in various places where you could actually get an answer - no longer.
The Commander's gloves are a straight re-use of the SSC ATAT driver gloves, which aren't great size-wise - slightly oversized on the driver figure versus the costume, especially given the SSC Driver fig is slightly too tall. And technically, the Snowie commander and the ATAT driver costume have different gloves (the Commander costume uses Hoth rebel gloves.) The hand armor piece they've glued on also looks to be a reuse of their old Snowtrooper part, which is also oversized, as it went with the jumbo Snowie gloves.
Makes me think the fig they showed was at least partly a rushed mock-up.

The face mask should be much further forward, almost filling the space. The eyes are sloped downward, making it look sad (literally) and the edge of the helmet (around the eyes) should have a much sharper radius. The figure has a larger curve, making the eyes look bigger (and less intimidating). The band around the helmet is too pronounced, making it look like a hat. The discs on the side, are a little too big. The bottom edge should be lower. Fix all that, and it should be a winner. The HT one looks spot on as it is.
