with that giant ES, I think you guys are crazy for not waiting for in hand pics at that price.

:exactly: I think we can afford to wait a little to get more information in about this piece before jumping in.
In hand pictures however could take months, i'd prefer to know more about the weight & materials.

For this money, and given how the other two turned out. I suspect we'll have time to wait for in hand pictures before buying.... But then I've been wrong before, fairly often. :lol

yea, I mean ultimately, you decide how much you want something, but this company doesn't have a great track record. I make a lot of my pre order decisions based on company rep. ECC and Prime, I'm quick to PO something if I really want it.

The NRD on this is US$180 (£140).
It's a gamble and you have to be willing to loose this much if you pull out.

ES:1000 at US$1799.99 each!
That's a lot of heads and a lot of money!

Oh man, it's agony!

Fellow collector Jay S Kerr on Facebook just posted these comparison images.
This i think has answered it for me, amazing difference.

That sure looks good :) .

There are several different heads to be fair, I always assumed that HCG 1/2 was based on the stunt version which did have less detail and a darker dome. But yeah, on the surface, this one has much more detail.

me too I am really doubting to PO it! a lot of money and a lot of dissapointment with final products of other companies...I really like it and I don't want to loose the opportunity of owning one if this, but if I PO and it ends to be a piece of....I understand all of you so well....

Look closely at the Coolprops offering... looks like there's an actual eyeball in its right eye socket. :lol

NEWS ON THE WEIGHT

Just had a reply from Coolprops and this is what they had to say :

Regarding to your question, the head with the base wont be as heavy as 91 pounds. It is not confirmed yet how heavy that will be in the production, but it will almost going to be a little heavier than other life-size heads we have.

This was pleasing to hear. Are there any other questions to put to Coolprops?
It's already been confirmed that all 1000 will have Chromium Plating on the teeth so anything else we need to know?

Glad you got an answer! Knowing it will be heavier than the other busts sounds promising. This just went up at my Aussie retailer for $2599 AUD, which is at least $400 less than I thought it would be. I can also use points to get 10% off, so it's pretty much a done deal for me.

As it's been approved by the Giger Estate / Museum the prototype would be known as AP / AE (Artists Proof / Artist Example) so after approval on that master, others made thereafter should be exactly the same otherwise the approval is pointless. Past Giger approved items have turned out really well so fingers crossed! I'll ask that question but be patient for a reply :) .

They seem ready to go with this now, unlikely to be any other changes as they now have a production deadline.

Glad it's up in AU Sisko, that 10% reduction is a nice chunk!

So..I understand that it would be at least as good as the proto:)all of them will be aproved by giger's museum, right? I have all my hopes with this bust! it looks really alien!!please coolprops!!! thanks alien:))

also it is important the dome!! as translucent as the proto! After alien dog, they should respect what they shows with the proto:)

Sadly NO. My guess is they would give outline approval on the Prototype Master and then request one production piece for final approval. They will not inspect and approve the whole 1000 individually, that's wishful thinking.

When giger approved the smaller HCG one, he just signed 500 plates after seeing the final piece.

This product will become part of the Museum portfolio and will most likely be for sale in the Museum Shop so quality surly would have to be good. Noted, clear done :D I'll put both your questions to them, fingers crossed!

So long as you're putting questions to them, suggest a UK/European distributor as the prices are insane here.

1. Giger provides example drawing.

2. Giger examines the prototype, most likely one of several and signs it to approve the shape.

3. Giger later examines the final production piece.

4. Giger is happy, he signs 500 plates, maybe not all in the same day :D .

I'm guessing the museum will continue this method of approval, especially his wife who is now in control.
