I'd prolly never buy anything from CP again, so if a Predalien gets made, it's gotta be from Prime for me.

After the P2 Bust? Yours had issues didn't it.

yes. The only reason why I will get that bust again is because I plan to have the mouth repainted. Just waiting on a really good price to get it. I've been waiting for that bust to come out for years. I wouldn't go through the hassle of getting a giant Predalien repainted though lol. The SS bust fell short for me.

They're still selling the P2 bust, it is entirely possible you may get it for a decent price once the maquettes start being revealed. So much for the short sale period with ES being revealed after orders close.

Thanks for the pics darkmummy

I still adore my CoolProps 1:1 City Hunter bust - the style is a perfect match to the Sideshow/SWS 1:1 Jungle Hunter bust.

Probably the last 2 pieces I'd ever sell from my collection (not that my kids would let me anyways) :lol

However - still not interested in any of these CoolProps Alien busts because of the lack of neck/shoulders. Look too much like large sausages on a BBQ.

Wouldn't touch anything "Predalien" related either - IMO that was the absolute WORST creature "design" in ANY of the movies - there were SO many better options they could have chosen (but then that goes for the movie in general I suppose :) )

.

Predalien is pretty cool. The SS Maquette was a bit bland and I nearly bought the Bust.
That picture looks good and a 1:3 Maquette would really tempt me. Although 1:4 would be preferred.

I almost bought the SS maquette as well to have it repainted. With so much bound to come out from Prime, I'd rather wait for a eventual 1:3 maquette from them.

I'm ready to place an order for this but the following points are stopping me :

1. What is the weight? Is it 28 pounds like the Warrior Head OR 91 pounds as BBTS have stated?
Coolprops will not answer the question on it's weight, tried endless times.

2. What's it made of? Cannot get an answer on this either.

I'm not paying nearly £2000 for a lightweight head, i want a feel of quality.

I strongly suspect it will probably be made of fibreglass. Fibreglass is a strong and durable material but is very light. It's lightness does not necessarily equal poor quality, but I understand people who like their statues to feel heavy. Using fibreglass would cut down on shipping weight substantially, and would also help to prevent damage during transit. I also believe that the Dog is made out of fibreglass.

IMO the biggest determining factor for this bust will be the level of effort that goes into the production. For example, there can be excellent quality collectibles produced with fibreglass, as well as utterly crap quality collectibles. Just as there can be crappy quality polystone statues, or excellent quality polystone statues. The material does not automatically = quality. They may not know the weight yet until they are further along in production.

Here are a couple of links with some info on fibreglass vs resin/polystone if you are interested.

Hi Sisko, thanks for the detailed reply and links, very helpful.

Must apologise as i just seen the bust is going to be made from COLD CAST RESIN, however the CP Warrior heads are also stated as being made from cold cast resin although some owners say they are made of fibre glass.
Once we have the weight then we know the material.

Into the UK it's going to cost close to £2000, does it really warrant that value?
Been a hardcore fan & collector for years, have never hesitated like this before.
The smaller signed HCG one i have is solid, do i really want to pay £2000 if it ends up to be light fibreglass?
Maybe an idea to stay on the fence for while, await more details just to be 100% sure.

That's very interesting, I didn't realise it said cold cast resin on the description. I had heard that the Dog Alien is made of fibreglass, and in Neny Dee's video it certainly seemed that way. I know that the coolprops P2 bust was also made of fibreglass. You are right that an accurate weight should give away the material, as fibreglass should be significantly lighter than resin. Although the thickness and weight of the dome will add some additional weight.

I totally understand your hesitation, especially since coolprops have only released a few products before so we don't really know what the quality will be like. And as international customers we have to pay a lot more. I'm expecting this to go up at my Aussie retailer for $3000AUD or more. If coolprops are going to charge ECC prices then they better produce things that are ECC level quality. For me the decision is easier as I don't have the 1/2 scale one, and my Aussie retailer has been great at letting me return things with no hassle if there are any problems.

In regards to coolprops, I've found that questions are much more likely to get answered on their facebook if you tag their name in a reply to one of their posts with the question rather than leaving a visitor post. I'm not sure if you've tried that. They don't seem to check the visitor messages very often.

Overall this looks very close to the original to my eye, not perfect though. The chin is a little large/round. That was pointed out to me and now I notice it when I see it. The aft portion of the head looks too large and overall the head appears a bit too long, stretched out imo.

Bear in mind the comparison above features the real suit minus its dome which accounts for the discrepancy in the overall head length. The chin is ever so slightly too large, I'm not sure it would be too noticeable in person unless you're comparing it to pictures of the real suit though as there isn't much in it, it is the most accurate Big chap collectible we've seen so far imo. You could always put it too them over on FB or via a private message however, they may take a tiny bit off.

I really would love to buy this thing, it's just that price.

Good idea, maybe I will. Like you though I'm a little scared off by the price. It's not outrageous for this though.

with that giant ES, I think you guys are crazy for not waiting for in hand pics at that price.

I don't know, it wouldn't be, IF the other two hadn't just released for a significantly cheaper price. It's like that AVP mask they released for a ridiculous asking price for no real reason. They seem to just push their luck now and then. I'm sure this will sell out as it's amazing, but it is a hard pill to swallow.
