Man I really want to get my hands on this figure. I have wanted a fur chewbacca since forever and seeing what futzing did with the previous one I can only imagine this will be the same thing.

The big issue seems to be the proportions on this chewie. Don't think his nose is supposed to be on his forehead like that....

Not sure the nose placement scandal is as big as advertised when we're talking about the difference between the ANH version and this.

I know camera angles can make a pronounced difference, but I really think TFA Chewie is going to be fine...if we ever actually get him in hand.

You're cherry picking the TFA photo though, the ANH space between lip and mouth is pretty consistent. The TFA one looks all over the place, with some photos looking close, like the one above. And others looking way too large. Not just camera angles accounting for that.

Well, I do think it's a more reasonable assumption that the photography (including some potential lens distortion here and there) is different as opposed to the production heads being dramatically different. But who really knows? I guess we'll see when we have a larger sample size.

I did choose the best TFA Chewie I think we've seen so far, though. Just to show what I think is some of the potential of the piece..

I don't think either are spot on but I prefer the colour of FA Chewie.

To my eyes I don't think TFA Chewie isn't any better or worse than ANH Chewie. Likely just a futzing issue.

I'm curious about the eyes on TFA chewie. On the ANH version they're just painted and are pretty plain looking compared to the level of detail you see with the other figures like Han/Luke/Ben, which I assume use decals and are then painted over in gloss?

I think what also could factor in is the lighter hair making it more obvious to see than on the ANH version. I also think this version like the ANH might need some touching up color wise, but the other way around.. darkening here and there.

Pers eye system was a favorite of mine.....I think they should all have it.....but only only if they can make it less likely to break....I got my DX joker at a steal price because it had separated..... Simple fix....move each independently with forceps.

Personally , I think ANH and TFA may be the same sculpt underneath.......time will tell.......

I love how people use the only good photo of Chewie out of 50 to make their case.

Anyway, I'm sure some people here will manage to futz this head into something nice.

It's all 'space-filler' until the ESB Chewbacca comes out anyway for most of you.

The same logic should also be applied to TFA R2-D2. I just hope I can resist that shiny dome when it gets released.

Yes, although it would be easier if the TFA R2 was light-blue all over.

Budget Stark mentioned his reasoning as to why the Rocket probably shouldn't get a fur treatment and I agree with him. With that size of a figure, and he has way more minute details and expressions (digital vs an actual furry suit from source material).

Hot toys is good but sometimes they can't work miracles.

Why is everyone so sure there will be an ESB R2? A droid is a droid, how much can it alter from one incarnation to the next? To me that would be a wasted release and one I personally don't see happening!

I don't think anyone said anything about an ESB R2 -- we were talking Chewbacca -- but an OT R2 is definitely in the cards (ANH or ESB or ROTJ).
