Tauntaun Han took so long to buy a Han for his Tauntaun?:lol

It's a nice fig - what did you use for the snow?

Yeah it was killing me not having one. I finally saw a decently priced one already weathered so I decided to go for it. Thanks to Jnix I had the extra HT sculpt that I figured I could make work somehow. I am so happy I caved as I really have no problems at all with him now.

It's a pretty cool figure. Tons of accessories. The eyes are terrible but I always liked the sculpt on the hatted head.

I have him in the "looking down at the scanner" pose and it really is one of my faves on display. Very well done figure overall that thankfully doesn't rely on the headsculpt too heavily. It really is a decent HF likeness but the eyes and the dark paint (kind of dark brown/purple) really messed with it.

But hey - it was $180 with the $20 off coupon. In today's market, the Hoth figs (Luke especially) were a stellar deal.

It really looks great like this^.

Especially next to the luke mounted taun taun. Despite a few pretty big drawbacks the hoth stuff makes for a pretty awesome display and came with quite a bit for the price.......next week I have an at at driver incoming that has the same hex base and no snow wedge :slap

Same here. Looks great like this...

Yeah, I'm slowly making my own Tauntaun (very-very-very heavily modded Hasbro:lol) so hoping to have that combo by year's end. It's about as good as it gets.

And yeah, it's strange how inconsistent the SSC stands have been - a few complain about the HT metal grate stands but I do like the consistency, and the slight variation with red/grey color.

Can't wait to see all the SSC Driver pics - I'm still mulling that one. It's a bit expensive and I hate the gloves but I really have to grab that.

And Chakaman, I've found that the SSC fur (while not looking great) can actually he "sculpted" just like HT Chewy's fur and I managed to get a nice "blown by high winds" look for that pose which really looks great.

Lol...had Star Lord on there with Baby Groot in the pouch. Fixed right it covered the seam. I was just too excited with Han I forgot to take off. I am actually molding up the seam today as it does bother me a bit.

Nice! Thought about the same... but I don't think I'll go through with it.

Will you still be able to swap Taun Taun heads? Or you not concerned with that...

I used molding clay that stays soft so I can take off easily if I ever want to change heads.

Nice idea! maybe some kind of painted latex could fill the space as well, but also be flexible enough to allow headswaps or just complete removal of it if you were going to sell it for example at a later point.

So today while cleaning my shelf of Star Wars figures, I noticed that my Hoth Han's face had seemed to fade. Which was weird since they are not in direct sunlight at all. But, it's not like there was much factory paint/color in the face to begin with. So I decided that it was time to give him a repaint. I wanted to give him a sort of wind blown/freezing cold look to him. Like he's been out in search of Luke for hours in that storm.

Here's my progress so far. Feedback is welcome.

Can you be more specific about the fading? Is that the background color to the red snowburn paint you have, or did you tweak the skintone as well?

Just wondering what this fading thing could have been caused by.

I wish my stranded in Bermuda luke hoth figure would fade to a lighter tone. No such luck so far:)

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

It's the background, yes. The areas around the eyes show the color (or lack there of). I did touch up the skintone, but only in areas and not everywhere. But the area around the eyes I left it alone as I thought it was a nice contrast to the windburn area being that he wouldn't be "tan" at all like he comes out of the box since he's on a perpetually winter planet :lol

He looks like his kidneys are about to go.

Nice repaint on that! Although it's still a shame the way they cut out those eyes, because Trevor's original sculpt had him squinting more which would have made a lot more sense for a planet like Hoth.
