Just for comparison here's the kaiyodo,HT(with nose mod) and SS deluxe masks. Even with the nose mod the HT mask is still very inaccurate when compared with the kaiyodo..which despite it's few flaws is still the most accurate 1/6 vader mask to date...and it was made 20+years ago..

Like I said in another thread I thought I would be bothered by the ANH Vader nose plug, but to be honest I barely noticed it. Just paint the outside of inner lip black and it's a big difference on the nose of the ANH Vader helmet, not perfect but ok. I'd rather have a slightly larger chest box, accurate weathering, better electronics and hands.

yeah I have the kaiyodo mask that hurricane made I guess some people said it was to small on the hot toys vader body but I liked it.

For ANH the HT mask is the best of the three. We'll see how will ESB or ROTJ HT Vader look like

Granted the HT mask together with the helmet are the best available for ANH look...but the sculpt of the mask is all kinds of wrong...eyes,neck,nose,chin etc and the paint apps are all inaccurate to how he looked in ANH. The kaiyodo mask has it's flaws but it still blows away HT for accuracy

But it's not too small..if anything the HT and SS versions are over scaled. Both are still great looking figures and nice interpretations of vader but highly inaccurate and stylised...

Whatever you have in your sig, Matrix, looks great to me. I'd be more than happy.

I haven't done any mods... but I'd like to lower the dome, fix the nose and change out the gloves. That would be it. Maybe get the RO tunic and cape if its tailored better and has no stitch lines.

some times I switch between the hurricane and the hot toys just to see which one I like

I felt the Kaiyodo/Hurricane one was much better than the HT. I really didn't like the HT one when I first had it in hand - couldn't understand how anyone could feel it captured ANH vader at all. But with some work the HT really does look way better - it's a solid starting point.

And in looking at rarer pics where Prowse has helmet on and off in the same camera set-up, and pics where human heads are close and in the same plane as the Vader helmet, you can really see that the helmet's not as big as you assume. The first giveaway to me was when I saw the stormie and Vader helemts side-by-side and the Vader helmet seemed small compared to my perception of it.

So even though when the Kaiyodo and Hurricane facemasks arrived I thought they looked noticeably too small - I have since realized that while they may be just a hair underscale (and do have a few other inaccuracies,) they are actually pretty accurate size-wise, and it's the HT which is too large overall (which it is,) a fact that most didn't seem to pick up on. There's this sense that because Vader feels "big" in our perception, his helmet must be huge, but it's not really true.

The one key problem with the Hurricane/Kaiyodo is that there is no perfectly matching dome for it (the available ones are all either a hair to large or a hair too small,) whereas the HT does.

yeah I noticed that as I put it on the hurricane sculpt. but I don't mind I see more of vader with the hurricane sculpt then I do in the hot toys. now if some one could take a crack at the hot toys helmet and shrinking down a tad it would be a perfect fit maybe

Totally agree

Let's hope NHM will make his 1/6 Vader helmet available some day. And he might even resculpt it a tad. That will be the ultimate ANH Vader helmet, because it is worked by a true Vader expert.
