Just finished up the "I find your lack of faith, disturbing" aka "Force choke" hand. It takes a couple hours per hand, to make these modded gloves, but it's totally worth it.

Poor kermit eller looked lost in that suit...where did his neck go!..when everything is squeezed together it heightens the illusion of the cheatbox looking bigger...

I know it's the Kermit pics, but it's the screen-used suit shown in bright/flat "neutral" light. I find many of the higher-contrast onscreen pics hide the actual borders of the chestbox, making comps harder. I just used matched width of the mask cheeks, belt box sizes etc in order to make it an accurate comp. The HT box is maybe 10-15% too small, but also the lower white/grey switches look a little too skinny/small.

The SSC DX box is about right size-wise but the ESB box is different.:gah:

Those look great. You do a matte black acrylic and then seal it with something? I don't know anything about painting so I haven't done the chest armor paint mod yet either.

Thanks!

I just do about 3 coats of matte black, and then buff it to a dull shine across the knuckles of each digit on every finger, and the tips of the fingers. I know you're supposed to do a sealing coat, but I couldn't find anything that maintained the matte finish. I don't have an airbrush though, so every sealant i tried was rattle-can.

:duff What do you use to buff, just a cloth or something a bit more abrasive?

The SSV2 chestbox is the same size as HT

Sorry, total brain fart. :lol Meant SSC ANH, which is maybe 15% larger than the SSC DX and the HT box.

The chestbox might be a tad underscaled but not enough to really bother me...View attachment 283831View attachment 283832

Yeah, it's about 10-15% too small in the first pic, in the middle pic, the screen grab helmet is a little smaller than the 1/6 pic helmet making the HT box appear closer to correct, but in high contrast lighting like in the third pic it's hidden because the edges of the box disappear into the black-on-black. It's so out front though. I remember people mentioning the undersize of the HT chestbox even when the fig was first previewed.

The other problem is that neither the SSC ANH nor the HT ANH boxes are particularly great sculpts - the SSC is soft on detail and the HT has the skinny grey/white buttons. I'm trying to think if there's a way to make a slightly bigger custom box out of the HT one. It's a much sharper sculpt than the SSC one.

I would say that they are nearly perfect. If off at all it's only slight, and doesn't bother me.

But you've been such a stickler for 110% accuracy with everything else!:lol Your fig really is looking pretty amazing and what you've done is an inspiration to take the HT fig to the next level. The stock HT helmet in-hand was so unimpressive to me, yet what you've done just elevates it to superb, and love that chest armor and gloves.:clap:clap

Wanted to ask for an expert Vader opinion - the HT lightsaber hilt has the metal belt attachment hoop ONLY at the top end of it, unlike the SSC ESB/ROTJ version hilt, which has one on the bottom.

So the HT one will attach pointing upwards and the SSC one faces down, like most of the other ones.
Are they both correct?
Or did HT forget to add a metal hoop on the bottom?

I'm no Vader expert and would appreciate any clarification from someone that knows better.
Thank you.

Anh saber has the attachment ring only at the top end.... even esb has the ring only on the top end. Rotj has both the ring, on the top end and on the bottom...

As someone who doesn't own Vader yet but is considering it, could someone explain why people are trying to pry the helmet apart? Thanks!

There are several mods that bring the already decent sculpt, to near perfection. Most of these mods require removing the dome, and prying the mask apart.

It's a very stressful and time consuming process, but extremely worth it.
