At first I didn't want to see an unmasked Jason because I don't like the PF face. That's what I feared, someone else's design that I wouldn't like. Unfortunately though they made a beautiful Jason sculpt with a likeness like no other. My friend you just threw salt on my wounds.

Yeah, the fact that the unmasked portrait looked incredible is a real shame.

Sounds like Sideshow has no plans to change direction on him.

At least Sideshow is consistent. They stuck to their guns on Beetlejuice even though most of the Freaks were down on it.

Honestly, I'm okay with just the masked version of Jason as I believe masked Jason is the quintessential representation of the character. Having the unmasked head would have been cool and more display options is always a plus (that's why I buy figures instead of statues), but I don't think I would've used the unmasked head very much anyway.

Like most everyone, 95% of the time the mask would be on. But for me growing up watching the movies, I couldn't wait to see his face because it was different each time. And it's always nice to have display options once in awhile. I can't help but wonder if we'll see that sculpt on a Part 4 Jason down the road.

I really doubt there is a face under the mask... maybe some eyes, but I'd imagine it a flat surface that the mask plugs into.

We can't say with certainty if the mask-on head will lose the under detail, but the prototype does show a mask over a full face. Seen at Monsterpalooza, you could see through all the holes that there was a sculpt under there.

I agree with all of you. I think Sideshow should give us head.

I mean the extra head.......or did I.

Some thoughts....

1. SS really is a business. that means they DO consider the people they sell to....all of them. Hardcore, medium and casual. Price is quickly becoming a deciding factor in what sells and what does not. I would dare say it might be even getting close to a deciding factor compared to the actual sculpt and quality of the figure. Some people (even on this forum) will snap up anything produced in their favorite lines, not matter how good it is. A lower price would attract the other buyers and increase overall sales.

2. I also think they really were concerned about the mask damaging the paint. In order for that mask to look right under a sculpt like that the would have to seriously mod the back side. getting to sit right would be a tight fit. I can only imagine, (after being a member of the boards for a while now and reading some of this stuff) what kind of complaints and returns would be done for scraped paint apps alone. "My dollys paint came off an sucks cause I messed it up taking the mask on and off all day...gimme a new head" What a nightmare for SS.

3. We SHOULD be glad they even made a figure from a movie line that is over 30 years old, and has not had a new film in the the franchise for over 10 years (not counting remake) . I am happy just to see they are doing older lines and are not falling into the HT format of sell while its hot.....screw everything else.

4. Out of all the possible custom heads that you could do, this one will be the most straight forward one. Buy a head off ebay. I will be doing one myself. I never have done large scale production, but if everyone likes it, well we will see. Personally, I never have done it because I know what people can be like with this stuff, and I do not want to headaches SS already has.

5. REJOICE! Jason? Freddy? If it sells well maybe we will see a Renaissance of figures that really brought this hobby into being. We have tons of super heroes, but lets be honest, figure collecting on a higher and scale started with horror and sci fi figures.......and producers should remember that fan base.

So long as we are discussing pipe dream wishes for stuff...might as well go for broke.....
I want this as a free accessory.....

Great post, I totally agree with everything you wrote!

I wonder why Jason never makes the SSF banner. The new PF was never up there and the 1/6 got shanked as well. Wonder Woman has been up there for like 3 months:dunno.

Poor Jason gets no respect.:lol

Yeah stupid bvs stuff doesn't deserve to be up there really, especially wonder woman. Anyway though i wonder if the ex will go on waitlist if i dont po soon.. I plan to po soon but i hate ssc deposit crap.
