The only mod I think that's absolutely needed is just simply moving up the belt and cod piece.... That alone makes a huge difference and much more accurate portrayal of ANH Vader. I'm happy with just that. Most other mods are such fine details. Some of these modded figures are simply amazing and look incredible like actual screen caps & photos, but I don't think I have the skills or cajones to do what these guys do. Cutting, sanding, painting.... blows my mind of the skills and patience on here. :clap I lose my mind and patience sometimes just simply futzing around for a pose... :gah: I do love looking at the awesome jaw dropping pictures though... :)

:exactly:

The only mod I would do is move the belt boxes closer to the buckle, but I already tried that once and failed. I wouldn't try it again unless I got another spare belt.

guys any idea - by when will bbts likely to continue and have stock of this. Considering SS still shows "preorder" and BBTS shows in stock.. i need some more time to place the order...

Given SS not having it and most of the line selling out somewhat quick, BBTS might go through Vader a bit faster than normal. I'll say April 18th.

I can't imagine that Sideshow would still be taking orders if they weren't getting it. Maybe someone else knows, but I don't think that's ever happened before. My guess is that they're getting a WHOLE LOT of them and/or they're shipping with other items. I don't think I'd be worried if I had it on pre-order with them.

I love to put the before and afters together to show what’s possible with a figure if it has good bones. The left was unfutzed, straight out of the box. The light isn’t the same because I hadn’t started my Death Star dio when I got Vader. Both have excellent lighting though. The ‘good bones’ comment is not entirely true upon second reflection, because the figure did need extensive surgery, but you get the point. Enjoy

uhhhh... what now?!?!?

I think it illustrates that the fig is pretty good out of the box... but the after pic?!? THAT right there is Darth Vader!!!

Here is the updated list of modifications:

-repaint and weathering on the helmet
-slight buffing of the satin, just like the movie
-removed the dome
-put metal tape on the inside of the eyes to get a bit more red
-removed ribs on dome and sanded down the top of the 'head'
-reglued the dome slightly asymmetrically
-weathered and repainted the armor
-wired up the belt boxes and voice system to 4,5 dc adapter
-redressed him with cod as high as it could go
-chest box attached with double sided tape right underneath the armor
-weathered the belt, boxes and buckle
-removed the wire from the robe and added a heavier one along the bottom of the robe
-weathered and polished the shin armor
-painted all the hands flat black
-used double sided tape to really attach the glove to the hand seamlessly
-weathered and repainted the chest box
-did a lot of futzing and water treatment to get it to fall naturally
-added cold cathode saber
-removed all excess fabric from the inside seams of the tunic and vest
-cut some of the rubber from the side of the chest so the arms can go straight down

As I mentionned on OSR, the Vader on the right is the best Vader I have EVER seen. That being said, out of the box, its still spectacular. I think the only mod that is required is to futz the robe (water treatment) and move the belt boxes. What I also did is apply some flat coat on the hands that were way too glossy and removed the inner robe wiring. I'm just not ready to risk my figure yet!

Cool. May I repost this picture and the mod list on another forum?

@Jazz: What is a cold cathode sabre and what do you mean by saying "from the inside scenes of the tunic"?

Having your cake and eating it too!
