I'm on a super tight budget. i'm getting the Delorean with my tax return but I have extra funds for one more character. Should I go for Sandy here or for Rey?
I have Chewie and Luke from ANH and Kylo and a Trooper from FA. So in your opinion what would make a better third?

Tough choice. What's more resonant for you?

I can tell you the Sandtrooper is an outstanding figure, loaded with optional accessories with a very good degree of accuracy.

It screams 1977, which is especially good if you're nostalgic because you were actually there (I was, albeit a very little kid). It's classic.

The Rey figure looks quite good and she's a cool character, but she hasn't got the weight of decades of pop cultural integration behind her, although she's of the same lineage.

Personally, I would consider the Rey and BB8 set a contender against Sandtrooper, at which point personal preference is the deciding factor. On her own I would likely go for Sandtrooper instead as it's deserving of the title "iconic" which is why many of us collect. It also fits thematically with your OT figures very nicely.

What do you like better?

I want to get Vader when I eventually get the cash. But I feel Vader will always be semi easy to find in one form or another.

I'm leaning more towards the Sandtrooper honestly. Rey wasn't exactly my favorite character in the flick, that would go to Kylo. I wasn't alive in the 70's but those opening scenes when they're looking for the droids is really just an iconic moment in the series.

If they could give us Luke's landspeeder than Sandy would be an amazing piece to go with it.

You didn't have to be alive in the 70s to feel nostalgic about Star Wars. I saw the OT in the 90s and it still blew me away and I have plenty of nostalgia for the series and characters.

I'd go with the Sandtrooper for now because of the above stated reasons; personally, I'm waiting for Rey to be released in a more Jedi-like outfit before adding her to my shelf.

My Sandtrooper is here tomorrow so I'm expecting the worst when it comes to shoulder-pouch strap; has anyone tried one of the UV cured glues to repair something like this, I think it'd work way better then superglue?

A small thing needle and the thinnest black thread you can find - that's what I used and it's stronger than any glue (in my opinion) It just depends on how many times your gonna be futzing with it I suppose - if your not gonna be doing much futzing with the figure then superglue might be okay but if your gonna be mixing up your poses plenty (like I do) then your going to need a more permanent solution. I'm a dab hand with a needle and thread so it was just a quick (but permanent) fix for my figure. MTDSOTFBWY!

The Hot Toys Sandtrooper arrived a few days ago, but only today I was able to take some photos of this awesome figure:

Love to see that the experience carried over. I was 9yrs old when I saw Star Wars in the theatre in 77. We could only go to the store and buy cards to capture a glimpse of the move. Tatooine felt so real. Sandtroopers just managed to capture everything awesome about troopers. Those scenes will forever be something that can never be duplicated.

:exactly:

I wasn't alive in the 70's nor for half of the 80's, but I still felt a Christoper Reeve Supes figure for instance was a must. :lecture

My Sandtrooper arrived today and it's the first Star Wars HT figure that I said involuntarily said 'wow' on opening.
So far I have collected all the ANH figures (bar the Spacetrooper) and if I were to only have one ANH HT figure, I think this would be it.
He's straight out of the used universe that Lucas was envisaging and the accessories are perfect.

My Sandy came in yesterday but because I was adding Dioder lighting to my Detolfs I couldn't play with him till 11 p.m.; so far as I can tell it's a great looking figure and has that new trooper smell!

I received my Sandtrooper today. Very cool looking figure. He comes with a myriad of accessories and I really like the sandy, weathered effect on the armor. The sand base is a nice touch also. Took awhile to get everything set up with the pouches on his belt and his back pack. I wasn't able to put the smaller pouch on his belt, as the back pack wouldn't sit right with it attached to the back of his belt. I still can't get it to sit perfectly straight, but it's straight enough if you don't mess with it.

If you look at my HT Sandtrooper pics above (post #2208) you can see that the little brass snap button at the front of the pauldron on the strap is missing. Mine fell off when I brought the figure out to photograph it, and thus it is somewhere in the yard, but never bothered to look for it. I found better (replacement) buttons. I also removed the back button too and threw it away. Instead of those crappy glued buttons I did something very simple but extremely effective: I too 2 pins like the ones in the pic below, inserted them all the way through the pauldron and simply cut the needle part of it close to the button. This way the remaining needle part is holding the button just fine and it also will not fall off like the original ones.
