I've seen that forehead paint on most of the obi wan pictures I have seen.

It's a shame. I'm getting two, so hopefully I can pick the best heads from both to display.

Sanding it might scratch the paint. Try using a flesh covered paint touchup

This. I have no idea how the actual printing process for these faces works, but it may be the case that there isn't a layer of flesh-coloured paint underneath that hair overspray. Colour-match the skin to a good acrylic paint and grab a 00 sable brush.

Hmmm. I'm not sure if my paint matching skills are up to that. Thanks for the suggestions though. I'm gonna have to think about this for a while before I decide what to do.

So, I just received my Obi-Wan and he's got the mis-masked hair paint that "bleeds" down onto his forehead a bit. It's worse on the angry head.

I'm thinking of gluing a tiny bit of fine grit sandpaper to a toothpick and trying to clean it up (very very carefully). Any thoughts on this? Has anyone else attempted something like this with an SH fig? I don't want to ruin the figure but that paint really bothers me.[/QUOTE

I wouldn't use sandpaper that will scratch the plastic just try a q-tip with some acetone (nail polish salon formula without the added oils check "Ingredients" on bottle) and lightly wipe it away don't make the mistake of forgetting to squeeze the q-tip to remove excess 1st I've lost eye paint on a figure due to that oversight. Then wash the area with some dish soap then dry it and it should be ok.

I think trying to rub it off by any method is tricky, go too far with acetone and you will go through all the layers of the paint.

My advice would be to just paint over it with as closely matched skin tone paint as you can.

I don't think you can spot remove it and still have it look natural with the rest of the painting. Also, painting it won't work as the different shade of flesh tone would never be the same.

I think if you like it out of the box, buy it. If it bothers you too much, then sell it or don't buy it.

Thanks for the input guys. I may try to mix some paint and spot test it on the inside of one of the heads as the inside looks to be either painted or plastic that is exactly the same color as the paint. I may also try the sandpaper (super fine like 800 or 1200 grit) on the hair on the lower back of the head where a mistake would be barely noticeable.

On another note did anyone else notice a nasty chemical smell when they opened theirs up? Mine was really rotten and it made me cough for a while. No joke.

And now for a BIG WARNING: The little black ball that makes up the end of his light saber COMES OFF! Mine is now officially gone! That things is tiny and I doubt I'll ever see it again.

EDIT: Praise Cthulhu I found it! Why would they make that a separate part?!

Well now I've gone and broken the blade right off of Qui-Gon's saber. Arrrrggghhhh! I'm usually not fat-fingered and I treat my toys well but I'm having a hard time with this figure. I dislocated his shoulder earlier and thought I'd never get it back in. I think I'll just walk away from it for now before I wreck it some more.

Maybe I should leave his hairline alone since he's being so disagreeable.

My Jedi Luke had a black mark on its cheek and lightly rubbing it with acetone on a q-tip removed just the black mark and the printed facial work stayed unchanged.

That black residue on the forehead is part of the paint that bled during production. It is not a defect, strongly go against any use of agents and sanding . That is not paint you can remove on its own could damage the factory paint.

Safe route is to just paint over the spot with a flesh mix of paint.

Cover up guys, don't remove the paint, it's possible to damage the factory paint in the process

Actually his tunic was a dark color
Black, grey or brown, kept changing in different lighting
