One of the newspapers I read is a right proper bastard when it comes to spoilers. I wasn't going to risk knowing everything that happens before seeing it :lol

I guess my plan of a mid-January viewing - after most of the crowds have gone and after it premieres in China :lol - have been scuttled. You didn't find it derivative, did you?

It was certainly derivative, but I thought this enhanced rather than detracted from the film.

I enjoyed it. Expected a packed out cinema, literally at most 50 people in there.

Really enjoyed Han and Leia's scenes and the new cast were pretty good too. I think the majority of Star Wars fans will be pleased with the film overall.

Agree completely with LeJuan, I just got home from a screening and I can't wipe the smile off my face.

After TPM I spent ages trying to find a justification for why I should like it because it was Star Wars, this time I can just enjoy a really good movie set in my favorite fictional universe.

It has some blank spots (but even ESB has a few - blasphemy I know) but looks beautiful, is well acted, has heart and sense of humour and is a lot of fun while leaving a bunch of questions that will hopefully be answered in the future.

Ford was awesome and the new cast was great.

It doesn't have the same sense of wonder that I got from watching ANH for the first time, but that's probably impossible to recreate. As a movie though, it's at least as good IMO even if it is derivitive

Agree with this and lejuan.

But again, the prequels maybe felt more "Star Wars".

No. Just no. This definately had a star wars feel.

You know you're watching a JJ Abrams film when you see Greg Grunberg have a role lol. What a lucky bloke he is to have gone to school with JJ.

You do notice the ANH beats...but you just don't care... The whole thing is fantastic. One thing that weirded me out were just how many of the toys that Hasbro has released since force Friday have little to zero screentime in the movie...

Regarding Captain Phasma..

Regarding Captain Phasma..

I didn't know anything about that character other than the look, but when I heard the voice I immediately associated it with the other character that the actor is well known for. I looked it up when I got home and turns out I guessed right :)

One of the weaker plot points I thought regarded the last scene where we see Captain Phasma. I'll leave it at that - if it's not a weak plot point, nobody will know what I'm talking about.

ok. I think I've had plenty of time to savour it and to me it's just an ANH remake, plain and simple.
and in that (remake) gategory "Star Wars XXX - a Porn parody" beats this one by a mile?
