OK. I have to say that price is the only major thing wrong with this release. I paid $220 plus shipping (used a $20 coupon). The suit and helmet are outstanding. The sculpt is very good and it just feels right. The paint apps are not HT's quality, but I feel the youth of the character in it. It's hard to explain, but I really like it. I had every intention of swapping out the sculpt with a HT's farm boy Luke and now I don't see it as necessary. If this figure were $189 or even $199 I think the reception for it would be much better. Here are my pictures under home office lighting with the blinds open (no flash). I am not a photographer, just point and shoot. It is what it is.

Nice clear photos. Looks very nice after all.

You've come to terms with the insane price? :lol

Thanks to Chakaman I didn't have to...

Parts available at Toy Anxiety. :)

I already have the right boots, gloves and an extra HT Luke head. Just grabbed a helmet and suit - Luke X-Wing completed for $100.

If I can get the whole SSC figure for around $180 (which I would love to do, but unlikely for the foreseeable future) I might just pop an extra DID head on the custom and make it a generic pilot. This will do for now.

I did the same thing with HT Ben using the Hasbro robes. Just can't be shelling out $220-250 for every character - if I can use some custom skills to cut a few corners, I can still operate on the same 1/6 budget as I was three years ago.

Nice clear photos, qbomb!:duff

Is Luke's right pant leg futzable to have it drape a bit over the boot the way we saw it in the prototype? Haven't seen anyone really futz that yet.

I would say this is not possible without removing the suit and pressing that part of the pant to give you the desired look (and that still may not work). I pulled the pant leg out of the boot and it has a very tight elastic bottom with very little extra length.

Is the flak vest removable? I just need the vest for my snowspeeder pilot Luke. Did pick up the helmet though.

I guess the only thing bothersome I'm noticing with the jumpsuit versus the proto is there's almost no exposed neck anymore. Without having in hand it's tough to tell what can be futzed and what can't.

Actually I guess in Nash's photos the neck is shown enough.

Definitely still curious to see this figure in hand, but not at the current price, especially with all that's coming.

Totally new body or bits added to an old version? Looks new from what I remember.

I don't begrudge anyone purchasing and enjoying this figure-the last Sideshow figures I purchased was the R2D2 and Snake Plissken--I had no qualms with my perception of value on those two--both were $150 (I think) both were good value for what I received, in my opinion. I just can't equate the same for this figure and the cost it is. At the end of the day--I don't care about licensing fees, production costs ect., I just want a decent representation of my favorite characters at a reasonable cost. To me this misses the mark.

So you aren't buying any? I think reasonable prices left the building a long time ago.

I was thinking the same thing. Surprised to see people warming up to the figure suddenly. I think the suit overall looks good but the head isn't doing the figure any favors.

Yup, likewise. The suit looks sharp. Everything else..not so much.

Honestly I think the sculpt is fantastic and the paint is a step forward in the right direction. It may not be hot toys but it's better. Also the eyes are better then the separated system they were doing. I think once I get some funds I'll order this I always loved the x wing suit and I haven't gotten a star wars piece in forever. Hot toys Luke looks good but I think the sculpt could be better but still nice. Waiting for a Jedi version from ROTJ.

Maybe I'll grab the Stormtrooper Luke and this, put the HT head on this when he's not wearing the helmet, and use the HT figure as another Stormtrooper.

Seems like a lot of trouble to have an X-Wing figure that fits in with the HT display.
