I'll have to check, but I think Bespin Luke's arm detaches in a different way. Hope I'm wrong as I'd love a light-up sabre for both figures.

Yeah, I think you might be right there, but not positive. Plus Bespin Luke head has a fixed neck sculpt and this Tatooine body has a fixed neck on the body so you could never use those two together. Probably need some custom work to swap out the arms or something.

This is a nice looking shot.

And the whole gang:

Still tons of detail:

Just ordered Luke from Hong Kong. Vader and Luke will join Han, Chewie and Ben in about a week. Just need Leia and the circle will be complete.
I'm almost positive we're going to see her released before Christmas.

I was going to make a similar comment. They look great, but the completely neutral head on "expressions" make it a challenge to pose them. You have to rely on lighting to get some personality in the sculpts. It's doable, but just a slightly more intense look would have gone miles...

I thought a lot of collectors hated overly expressive sculpts? I remember people complaining about that yelling Cap head for the Avengers figure.

Personally I love those kinds of sculpts.

I like some subtle expressions, the new Rudd sculpt for Antman looks great. Just a bit of a smirk, really works for the character.

I am ashamed to admit that I had no clue there was a difference. Why would there be a difference?
ESB Saber
30j5gyr.jpg
Has rivets at the end of the grips the ANH doesn't.
Has a different pattern on the "switch" (which is really the clamp that fits Flash cell fits on the camera)
It reuses the non on top near the blade and has a duplicate on the bottom.
Has a textured piece of tape that goes around the clamp

ANH Saber
lukeanh.jpeg
No rivets
Switch is on opposite side (at least in the scene when Obi Wan gives it to Luke- other times in ANH it flips around)
Pattern on switch are made of have "bubble" things which came out of a calculator
Has a glass "eye" on bottom rather than another nob like the top
no textured tape around the clamp.
Man thanks for that. Wonder why Lucas changed it!

I don't think those details were that important to them at the time and they didn't think anyone was going to examine it that closely. After all they used a very recognizable old graflex 3 cell with only minor tweaks and grips added for the lightsaber and in ANH the switch on the side would sometimes be on one side and other times on the other. I think when ESB came around they put a bit more effort into all their props. They probably put the rivets in for practical reasons to hold the grips down better (Luke was using it a lot more in that film). They may have added the nob to the bottom where the "eye" was to make it look a bit different from the graflex tube, or they just thought it looked better. And using the circuitry strip for the "switch" instead of the bubble strip from the calculator was probably just because they liked it better too. And they added the textured reflective tape over the clamp in ESB to cover the word "graflex" printed on it. So, I think they just thought it looked better in the same way the tweaked lots of props.

It's never said by Lucas because I don't think it's an intentional story element but in the context of story I just viewed it as normal maintenance or upgrade that lightsabers needed over time.

Have to agree with others that I'm just not feeling the likeness that much. It might still look nice on display under the right lighting I suppose, but at least from these pics it's just not doing much at all for me.

Yeah, at least a hint of humor or anger is all I usually need to see in a sculpt. But somehow HT has found a way to make most of their figures just look really bored instead. :D

Thankfully their Leia, while having a neutral expression, doesn't seem to have that same problem.

i can see why people aren't feeling the head sculpt. The one J.C. Hong had is so much better.
