Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings SP00KY15 $20 code

See for me...i waited and hoped for a discount from ssc on falcon but he is gone. If they honor the %20 I'll still buy him.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings SP00KY15 $20 code

Well... lets say you were running a business and your cash register screwed up. Instead of spending $500 from you, I ended up spending $300 and saved myself $200 and walked away.

You would be okay with that?

strawman!

There are justifiable business reasons to honor and there are ones to not honor. Its going to come down to whether PC thinks by keeping the orders will get them repeat business or not.

If it was a controlled error and not made widely aware it would most likely passed through. Now that its out there with people following the situation looking less likely.

This why I feel like cancelling orders is a bad business practice. I'm not trying to srart an argument. I see your point of view and it is valid. If they happen to cancel my order, I won't complain at all, and I'll accept it, but that doesn't make it right by the customer.

1. Let’s assume this is a retail store and not an internet business. I feel that both should be held to the same fair business practices.

2. A retail store is responsible for its employees and their mistakes. If a Target employee enters the wrong price in the system, I should get it for that price. This is how businesses work. Same with Popcultcha. The price I paid is the advertised price. I made the purchase based off the “agreement” between me and their system, which was programed by an employee. Online or in-store, an item that has a price attached is the price I should pay.

3. The money has changed hands and the transaction is complete. At this stage, they have my money, and they have my product. It is no longer their product. It is my product that they have to ship to me. Say you go into Walmart and the checker scans your item. It rings up at half what it should be. The checker places it into a bag. You pay and get a receipt. Now imagine the checker realizes the mistake, takes the bag off the carousel and tells you he/she has to refund your money because of the mistake. Absolutely not! Just because my items weren’t “delivered” yet doesn’t mean those items aren’t now mine. I realize that internet businesses have policies in place that allow them to cancel orders, but I’ve always felt that this was wrong. Businesses need to be responsible for their mistakes no matter their size or location. Excuses like “Oh, we’re an internet business, so it’s different” or “We’re a huge motor vehicle corporation and we need bailing out by the government!” don’t sit well with me.

4. The profit margins on goods is, in some cases, exceptionally high. They are still making a good profit even with the extra 20% some of us got.

5. By cancelling orders, they’ll just upset people. By keeping all of the orders, they’ll have a huge new customer base they didn’t have before that will most likely shop there again. A lot of businesses, including ones I’ve worked for, accept losing profit from time to time on huge sales because they know it will bring more loyal return customers in the future.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings SP00KY15 $20 code

Yes, we should.
If a deal is too good to be true, it probably is. And clearly people knew something was up and tried to take advantage of the situation. Then when people get upset because they were not able to take advantage of it, they get mad.....? I don't get that at all. Glitches on websites happen all the time. If any of us were in their shoes, I guarantee you that we wouldn't honor all of the purchases that were made. They did a good job of identifying the issue rather quickly.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings SP00KY15 $20 code

What of making a deal? Instead of taking 40%, they offer 30% and no pennies for the troubles?

15 hours later. :lol

Not poking just funny that it took mass orders to trigger it. Thats the rub. Their ENTIRE site was jacked up. Not just one product like Castle Greyskull and ectosticks or whatnot.

There's no reason they shouldn't... he was already on clearance at $177, then the advertised 20% off after that.

I wish I hadn't stalled about placing my order... he was $158 shipped.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings SP00KY15 $20 code

Well I didn't think it was a glitch when I ordered. I thought it was the sale they are running. They have my money and should honor it. If they don't, I won't order from them again.

So, you would be okay if the company charged you twice the amount as well? Since you don't want to give money back for there error, they should not have to give money back to you for there own error.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings SP00KY15 $20 code

Original sale conditions stated no pennies to begin with. See terms and conditions.

again bad example.

There was offer and consideration in the transaction. What you are describing is dishonorable or stealing of an agreement which another party changed the terms. I agree to buy a product at $200 and then they charge $300 that is an error.

They offered the prices and we gave consideration (tender) into a contract.

Again the hold harmless is posted but to the letter of the law this example above is not what happened.

:mwaha These people would be sharpening pitchforks if it was the other way around.

I accepted the sale on my end due to the price they asked for. If they had asked for twice the amount, I wouldn't have paid it.

Now that this whole ordeal is over, let's get back to RP posting. I need more points!

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings SP00KY15 $20 code

Respect each other`s fault here I would say. PC was kind enough to give a good discount and made a mistake on the road. If you made one, wouldn`t you also be forgiven?

Peace man and all that crap :)
