I put in an entry for the contest. I wonder if this means we'll see a pre-order soon. I'm sketchy on ordering Sideshow human figures now but Troopers like this and the Tie Pilot I wouldn't think they should screw up.

Sideshow's newsletter has a link to a preview page. Usually means PO within two weeks.

As per contest page. AT-AT Driver is expected to ship sept./Nov. 2016.

Wow. I really wish Sideshow would put pre-orders up when product is no more than 3 quarters away (9 months). 12-13 months is just... I'm not even sure there's a word for it.

Honestly for the small amount of 1/6th stuff they put out in a year it seems like Sideshow really drags their feet on releases. It takes them a long time to even put something up for order after they make an initial tease and then it takes them a long time from pre-order to actual release. I know Hot Toys takes a while to release too but they also have a lot more output in any given month. Granted I know Sideshow does Premium Formats and stuff too.

They must be aware of that as they could have put him on PO last july when revealed at SDCC. Still, i agree twelve month is still a long wait in between PO and shipping... assuming there's no unexpected delays.

:goodpost:

Yeah, the question I would ask is why not just show the figure in April '16 and ship in November '16? Hot Toys usually stays to well under a year (unless delayed.) A greater than 12 month lead time is just plain stupid.

So we see this in July at SDCC.... teased again now in October.... perhaps a preorder in a week... then wait and wait and wait until Nov 2016.... too much time to discuss problems, fixes, hopes for SS to address, etc... then delays; port's crowded, shipping delayed... figure finally arrives January 2017.... and it falls apart in your hand like Jango.

I'd say that's way too long for that drama.

To temper expectations it would have been cool to see a very early sneak peak on the work-table now, then as Talibane suggested, pre-order starting in April next year. Maybe between now and then another more detailed peek.

I got the SSC e-mail about a preview for this but it seems to just go to the same old single "face close up" preview pic from months ago. Is that it?
