Why is it when Mattel has a sale or has a 'Day of', they're purposely blocking IP addresses in asia or some parts of asia. I know this because I have tested it with different IP addresses using VPN. When I use IP addresses from the U.S., Canada, U.K., etc. I can login normally and the website proceeds to the checkout page but when I try an IP from an asian country, Mattel empties my shopping cart and does not let me login.

Wonder why they're doing that. So if you're a buyer from asia, you're screwed and have no chance to get a figure before it sells out from matty.

It's happened occasionally, some think it's intentional, but more likely it's a bug from Digital River.

If Matty's doing it intentionally, what's the purpose? Don't they want more buyers? :dunno

I think it might have something to do with the shipping. Maybe for some reason they lose money when shipping to certain areas, so they just geo-block certain countries. Ironically the figures are made in Asia.

Exactly, doesn't make sense that they would purposely block someone out, the only thing that makes sense is that Digital River screwed up (again).

If you understand how bigger websites work, it's usually not just 1 server that hosts a site, it's at least 2-3, with multiple end points in different countries. It's possible that when they update a page on their site for a special sale, that it doesn't get properly copied to all the different servers that host it in other countries, which is what leads to errors.

I think this is very interesting:

From SHAEGGY on the.borg:

"Well, now I've been officially banned from posting on the MattyCollector forum...apparently, someone over there is adverse to the words "Better Business Bureau."

Earlier this afternoon, after I had twice posted a copy-and-paste of a similar BBB complaint as my own (King Hsss Snake Torso) against MattyCollector.com on that website's forum pages, I was banned from future postings to that website. These two posts were removed "for moderation" shortly after I posted them to the MattyCollector forum page; No actual warnings were given for the postings, only an e-mail sent to me several hours later with the following message:

"The site administrators have removed your access rights:
Continues to agitate and disrupt forum with attempts to incite members into filing complaints with The Better Business Borough. Violating member user agreement with improper conduct on the site."

My two postings about MattyCollector's recent settlement were copy-and-paste posts taken directly from the BBB website...nothing "agitating" but merely trying to help other consumers in a similar situation with MattyCollector know that a successful resolution with the company had been reached earlier in the week for another consumer in our same wituation.

So, rather than embrace open communication with consumers on its MattyCollector.com website, MattyCollector is attempting to cover up the situation by removing consumers from its forums who mention the company's recent settlement with another individual who filed a similar complaint with the BBB -- a fine way to treat a near-monthly customer of the company's products since 2008, and who had been a model member of the MattyCollector.com forums for nearly as long."

Feels like I'm banned from buying at Matty. LOL! I tried to see if the issue was still present even if the sale was over and found out it still is.

Was trying to buy double mischief, entrapta, sweet bee & spinnerella but because of Matty's blocking, i guess more money saved.

It is unclear to the masses as to why they randomly choose to geo block people, but I guaranty it all boils down to Mattel saving money. I really don't see how blocking people from buying their product benefits them, but it must in this case.

It could be a Digital River issue, and I'm sure Mattel is aware of it if it is. Since they allow it to continue they either condone it or simply don't care. I will go with the latter.

point dredd box....

Holy cow! That's a big box.

All boxed up and ready to go and still no price on the item yet. What a way to do business. :(

This thing is SO obviously packaged to try and sell Castle Grayskull. LOL!

With shipping and tax my guess is that playset is going to be at least $300.

suppose to be in the $135-150 range, then tack on tax and Digital River's shipping extortion prices,so looking at $165-180 total

So let's see, this would be my guess:

Teela - $30

Talon Fighter - $75

Point Dread - $25

= $130

With taxes and gouged shipping.

Rough total somewhere between - $155 - $175

Delighted (and relieved) to see Rudy back for the artwork.
Teela aside it all looks great.

We hopefully will be getting these for the UK con on a few weeks.

The FAILmation continues...

At least now we know why she wasn't revealed at SDCC and was facing away from the camera in that teaser video.

That Teela is not suppose to be Filmation Teela.....the real Filmation teela comes in 2017
