Re: Sideshow Announcing new Premium Art Prints collection

Wish you the best of luck.

I'm returning all of mine since I never got around to framing them yet. Hard to part with some of them because they do look quite awesome, but I really really don't like the non-handwritten sigs.

I'm returning 1 that is framed and 1 that is unframed and keeping the 2 that are framed and hanging. If all of yours are unframed, then no use to framing them and incurring that expense for an art that is not signed. I would've done the same thing.

I opened a claim with them. I should hear back tomorrow. I am going to return the 5 I have in tubes and cancel the other 2 I have on order. I am going to hunt other art I want at NYCC

Re: Sideshow Announcing new Premium Art Prints collection

That is awesome!! Last year I when browsing I only picked up 3 things in artist alley but my goal was to get Steve Mcniven to sign my Cap civil war variant and Kevin Conroy to sign my batman animated series box set. I only go one day and I don't want to carry to much. This year I am thinking of bringing a portfolio with me and filling it up haha. I hope you can get a sketch and some cool stuff while its in your currency !

Thanks! I'll keep ya posted when I get back! I'm sure that's where most of my money will end up, even though I end up never having enough frames or space to display it all! It's just too good to pass up most of the time! I hear ya with not wanting to carry much around. I'm trying to figure out the best way to pick up prints early. Usually I'll do it at the end of the day, but I know that certain people sell out, and since I can't go on Thursday or Friday (the quiet days when I usually get my shopping done!) then I'm thinking I may have to do it earlier on Saturday (where it gets PACKED!) and carry them around. I'll need to find something that'll protect them, as one bang into someone, and that's a ruined print!

I look forward to seeing what you get! Yeah I have the exact same mindset. I recent got a portfolio but seeing as I am sending my SS prints back it will be empty and I am going to mod it so I can carry it on my person at NYCC. This will allow me to keep the art protected and allow me to be hands free.

If I were you, I'd run in and see if the following have convention sketch lists,
Adi Granov
Alvin Lee
Buzz
David Finch
Ivan Reis
Stanley Lau

They'll probably be pricey, but it's original sketches, especially Adi Granov because I believe he does color sketches.

Ill look into it. Do the sketches go up in value? or are they just that awesome?

So far looking at their sties no one has any upcoming info listed but all of them are on the exhibitor list for NYCC. As it comes closer the list will be updated and I will keep an eye out for where their booths will be located exactly.

All the ones I mentioned are in artists alley I believe

Re: Sideshow Announcing new Premium Art Prints collection

Yeah the artist alley is part of the exhibitor list
As for value sketches are original art, so generally it depends on who did it, how good the sketch is, how big it is and all that but mostly the hold their value. I generally dont sell mine because they are tough to get as is but the ones I've sold I've never lost money on.

And big name artists will charge a ton of money...even for sketches. Full commissions could cost anywhere between a couple hundred to a couple thousand

That's a smart idea! I may have to figure something out along those lines, or close to it! And that's a great list to check out that Josh mentioned, so many great artists! NYCC seems to be growing in popularity in terms of the people they pull in, so it may be something I'll plan for in the future! Sideshow and ARH will both be there as well, which would be cool.

It really depends. Some artists take convention sketches to another level, others give pretty weak sketches. Full cover ready commissions can be expensive but you can also get somevpretty amazing stuff for a couple hundred bucks.

Most appreciated Josh

I seen some of their commission prices when I visited their personal sites. :horror

NYCC has quadrupled in the past 10 years. It has grown a lot but its still not at SDCC level or even close to it. This year I am curious to see how it bridges that gap.

The cheap and cover quality is few and far between...I got lucky with one commission that I had done that happened to get noticed by Aspen and got turned into a printed cover since it was done by one of thier artists

Re: Sideshow Announcing new Premium Art Prints collection

Looks like one of the exclusives for FanExpo this year are a selection of 10 one of a kind Star Wars art pieces by Robert Bailey for $160...hopefully there's some still available come Saturday, as I'd definitely like to take a look and see what's available and gauge the work in person! Looks like it could be pretty awesome!

Re: Sideshow Announcing new Premium Art Prints collection

After a lot of consideration, I contacted Sideshow about returning some of my prints. I've had some custom framed and don't want to tear them open to return them considering I'd be completely out the money for the framing, but I'm going to see if I can return the ones I've placed in my portfolios. It's aggravating to think I spent as much as I did on digitally signed prints thinking they were signed. It's also annoying to think that I could have gotten Artgerm to personally sign his Sideshow prints when I saw him at SDCC but of course didn't because I was unaware they didn't have his actual signature. Since I don't know if I'll get to see him at a convention again that's a big opportunity missed. Hopefully they'll get back to me with some good news. If it comes down to 10% credit on all of them (about $200) or being able to return just my unframed prints ($870) then I know which one I'm going to take.

Re: Sideshow Announcing new Premium Art Prints collection

SS got back with me about my prints today. Returning one and taking the credit on the rest.

Re: Sideshow Announcing new Premium Art Prints collection

True enough but I'd take one nice cover over 10 prints. I actually just saw a nice Darkseid piece pencil art by Philip Tan for $350

Check it out, Im trying to stay away but its calling me
