Has anyone gone on the waitlist for the ex? Just wondering if this is one of those times where your waitlist converts in a day or if I should just go for the regular.

Dang, that looks beautiful. :clap

I'm still really happy with my Hoth Han, and think the likeness works great from a distance, but yeah there's no denying that up close the detail doesn't hold up as well, and that the cut out eyes really kill the sculpt.

Wow, I actually stood up for the Sideshow Hoth Han head sculpt, only really complaining about the crappy flat paint app. But man, that comparison pic with the new HT Han really does show how far Sideshow needs to come in order to really compete with HT in terms of likeness and realism.

I am praying that the Sideshow Pilot Luke can hold up to such comparisons when it releases later this year!

Ugh am I glad that I cancelled the Hoth figures. That side by side is totally jarring and I don't know how anyone can realistically say that the Hoth Han looks better compared to the Hot Toys version.

I'd love for the Red 5 Luke to be awesome but I'm not holding my breath for it to actually come out as good as shown in the promo pictures. I really would like that variant of Luke but unless it's great in hand I won't be able to justify the price going off of Sideshow's previous efforts at human likenesses. I will say though of the two Hoth figures I think Luke fared a bit better than Han.

Love that pic. And I can't believe I didn't think to turn the bases that direction to save space. Very cool.

Yeah, that's an amazing shot. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to get mine!

:duff many thanks guys, i love the bases on these they are nice little diorama pieces if you will. I plan to do this eventually with luke and han in trooper disguise too, it makes having 2 figures on a shelf look a lot cleaner

I like my SSC Hoth figs (expecially Han), they are decent pieces overall but I agree that the sculpts are more on the caricature side (probably that's why someone thinks that is a better likeness) and they'll never pass for shrunken humans, while this Solo (with proper lighting) can. :dunno

Yes proper lighting means I display him like this lol

Yeah with face hidden makes a pretty good display, nice weathering you did on it. Sideshow needs to make another Taun Taun on its side with Han cutting it open :lol

The Red Five figure interested me because I'd like a new head sculpt for my Ceremonial ANH Luke (right now it has the SSC Farmboy head). We'll have to see when it comes out and people have it in hand, but I suspect that in the end I am going to have to use the HT farmboy or Stormtrooper disguise head sculpt.

As for Hoth Han compared to HT Han, Hot Toys blows it out of the water. Still Sideshow is getting better, I am sure if you put Hoth Han next to SSC ANH Han there would be a BIG difference. Seems like the biggest thing HT has over SS are the paint apps.

SS Han and Luke never looked much good in photos, but on display they're among my favourite figures.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I've got both hatted versions next to bespin Luke right now and they look fine and are two of my favorites. From normal viewing distance they also look a bit more like Ford and Hamill than the Bespin figure looks like Hamill.
I'll have to cancel this new Han if he's going to make them both look like crap. :lol
