Due to sdcc being a complete bust and not being able to get a hold of one of those most desired gokus. Here's where my funds are going to go

Yes, but if this goes the way I think it will, we will see a "manga" version next year that will (basically same colour scheme as Awakening Goku), then if im really good, we will see an anime Awakening Goku as SDCC. Its the most logical at this point as I still dont believe they will keep this particular version of Goku an exclusive. If anything the outcry and panic we have seen for this figure shows them it will sell.

And that text is why I initially posted that the boots were wrong.
I suppose I should also say that this Awakening Goku is poised to take Trunks' spot as my favorite figure even if the boots aren't anime accurate.

Besides in the promotional video they use scenes from the anime and not colored drawings from the manga.

These days I have been rereading the manga and the color of the boots is right on the SS Goku from other sagas (like the Cell Saga) and not when he becomes Super Saiyan for the first time.

I believe there was some mention of BBTS and Amazon(?) carrying the SDCC Goku within about a week but it was also said that they will be over-priced. I think at this point our best chance at getting one at a decent price is going to be the bluefin site. Bluefin Premium Home page

Awakened Goku is a strange blend of colors.

The figure design is "mostly" based off of this image:



This is original Toriyama art and I believe it is also original Toriyama colors as well. This image is also in the Dragon Ball "Art of Toriyama" artbook (I'll grab my copy later on to verify). You can note the manga red lining on the boots.

However, the colors also reflect the yellow-ish Super Saiyan hair when a Super Saiyan is displaying their fiery, yellow aura, which would then affect the color of the character's hair and possibly their outfit as well (Goku's orange gi appears lighter, etc.). In which case it almost seems like the character is venturing into anime color territory seeing as Toriyama didn't color the whole series but only select art pieces. Take a look at Awakened Goku's yellow boot ropes as opposed to the gray/tan that is the norm for the manga (and we saw on the original SSJ Goku release). It looks like they're going the route of having manga colors with "fiery,aura" highlight colors on the figure itself.

Orbital, it's also possible that Bandai/Tamashii is "retconning" the boot colors and we'll only see the yellow lining in special releases or cases like this SDCC Namek release or in video games. Any subsequent media and releases will go back to the traditional red lining since that was the "correct" colors all along.

Thank you very much for that image, that's just the image that is in the manga that I have when Goku turns into Super Saiyan for the first time (with the laces in a color that is not yellow).

Bardoon agree with you, another thing I think is that Bandai put those colors on boots was because that's the color they have for most of the time when he is in the Super Saiyan levels in DBZ.

Probably the figure is a mixture of anime and manga, although based only on the previous figures I think they were based on the anime because it has shaded hair and lacks those lines on his face that some do not like.

In other words it is the battle damaged version of the SS Goku SDCC except for the obi.

Original retail? Id gladly sell A16 for $61 and pick up a new one for $10 less.

I don't think Beerus is the new foe. The REAL story is gonna begin after the RoF arc. This is simply an easy way of easing us into the action by presenting the familiar movies with more detail and then slapping us with (hopefully) a fleshed out brand new story we haven't seen yet.

That makes sense. I wonder who the "main" villain is going to end up being. I thought I'd read that this had been confirm for a few 100 episodes, so hopefully the BoG/RoF stuff doesn't take up TOO much of it.

I tried to ask Alex Blas for troubleshooting and the guy doesn't respond. In fact, I don't think he's ever responded to my queries. If he keeps this up, I am going to boycott agelessgeeks.com. This is no way to conduct customer service.

I joined the Dragon Ball Z S.H. Figuarts Group. Alex Blas (Ageless Geeks) is on there and usually takes pre-orders. Solid group but there's the occasional bad egg (likely because of a bad sale). People sell Figuarts on there too.

That's a great group. Them, DBZ USA, and Ageless are all awesome. Robots4Us is also extremely awesome and is ran by an actual store-owner akin to ageless. Addi is a great guy.

This is a random question, but has it been confirmed whether or not awakening's hair has shading? It's odd not to see any at all on the skin, but the hair in some pictures looks shaded but in others it looks like it could just be shadow!

But I am the potential customer. How in the heck am I supposed to know about his personal life? That shouldn't be an applicable excuse. I have given him weeks for explanation and so far, I have been snubbed. With that kind of customer service, wouldn't that make you peeved as well?

Personally I think the other antagonists are gonna be the other Gods of Destruction criticizing Beerus & Whis for sparing Earth and/or "allying" with the Z Warriors. Perhaps they will try to retire & betray him.. them not realizing that they will soon have to deal with the true God(s) of Martial Arts
