Maybe EX was going to be the McQuarrie proto helmet switch out and it got denied like Fett. That would have rocked

Wow! Not liking the pose too much but still ok, the price and no ES will make me pass on this. If it was 375.00 I may buy it. 500.00 and no ES? The only thing I do like is the height on this. With so many so-so things I think I will just keep the original vader. I kind of like that iconic pose better on the first one much more than this new pose of him coming down the stairs. Pass for me. If I do buy him later I will get one off the bay or used one for around 300.00 to 350.00 shipped. There will be plenty of these around for a very long time.

SSAlex has said that they are trying to get additional light-up features for the statue. I think that's why the statue is priced at $500. If they get those features and update the page, I think it will warrant the price tag. If not, I think it's priced too steeply. Here's hoping that they can pull it off. I think that is why they've priced the statue the way that they have. It's not like they would announce light up features later on and increase the price. Seems like they're planning ahead.

It seems to me that this is the beginning of Disney policy. All 1: 4 under the brand name of Star Wars will be free number and no additional options. Item will be continuously produced and available for 2 years minimum. The truth is that Disney is a global company and exclusive editions were available mostly for residents in the United States.
As for the PF is very nice, but $ 500 is not worth it. Companies ordering from Sideshow have a discount of 15% when ordering more items so as the price come down to 425 or less probably I buy it.
May the Force be with you...

No you won't...you play the same broken record at every PO and you always get burned

Don't forget that after it "sells out" it will be locked in the Disney Vault for a few years and then be re-released with a higher price to account for inflation + the Disney premium.

Honestly I think this is more SS then Disney :|

Fett and Vader are there biggest things, and it's not like they haven't gone crazy with ES on big things in other licenses either.

Yeah, Disney's almost always overpriced, at least in their blu-ray dvd merchandise, and even years after a release, their prices almost never lower beyond $5-$10 and they rarely ever have sales/discounts. More light-up features would definitely help soften the blow.

Can the head articulate downward or only side to side?

No doubts about this. If I were a gambler, I'd put money on this having lights on the chest and belt.

Think about this: the Darth Malgus PF had lights on the chest armor, both gauntlets, and on one of the portraits. All this in addition to the lightsaber.
For them not to include the appropriate lighting on a Vader PF will cause so much negative attention that they're not going to want. No lights on Vader, other than his lightsaber, is a step backward in development.

Malgus was also $125 USD less!... and had an EX!!! :thud:

Malgus was fully sculpted, though. With Vader they have to deal with the cloth suit and the separate (I guess) chestplate and belt pieces. They'd have to get and hide wires through all that. (edit: which, I realize, they did with their first Vader PF)

I think it's all about it being do-able quick and easy in the factory. Don't try to find an explanation to the steep price. It's just because PF and Vader.

On a side note, the more I look at it, the less I like it. I can't get over the topper helmet, the extra-long cape and the ugly blue and grey uselessly high base.

I like it less the more I look at it, the price isn't making me want it anymore either..., I have to be totally happy with something to spend that kind of cash. Malgus was an awesome statue & a must have, this just isn't giving me the same vibe at all..., where as non Star Wars items wise, take Hot Toys Hulkbuster figure, now that was a must have & I couldn't order it quick enough (& that costs far more than Vader). Mixed media has never been of appeal to me so the fabric body suit they're giving Vader was an instant negative, add to that the chunky fat thighs & the light sabre sticking out so I'll have nowhere I can display him & that just about put the brakes on for this piece..., I have 27 Vader's in my collection anyway though & there's still 2 I'm looking to add so it's not a big deal really. :)

you mean the oil prices that are stupid low now and have been for a while now (at least compared to a few years ago :p)?

WOW!:eek

Retail price in Germany seems 599€ (656$ because of the low €)....sorry, now i`m officially out of collecting PFs....:Flush

I paid roughly the half for Darth Malgus (320€) not long ago and i just can`t afford this prices hikes anymore!:dunno

Now i`m sad....

I don't like this Vader version, and also will not pay 600,-€ for PF's in the future!Sorry, for me the end of the Sideshow PF era!!!

A disco ball please and a flashlight in his other hand. Maybe a lantern. This will totally justify the increased price and even the weird pose.
