Anyone have a tutorial for cutting the hair on this thing? This will be the first doll haired figure I'll have owned and I don't want to mess Aragorn up.

I'm not about to go to a barber shop or hair salon and have someone cut it for me.

This is what I'm using most of the time.

With this you will be able to cut trhough the thickness of the hair. You will have to part out the hair.

First you it on the back. With this you will remove the thickenss of the hair but you will not make them shorter.
Once the back is done you can go on with the top part.

Once you have the deisred thickness you can remove the excess of longer hair with a regular scissor.

I had found this on youtube the other day which explains cutting layers on long hair. I think it would work.

This fella just arrived. I admit I was NOT a fan of the preproduction pics AT ALL. But the inhand pics in this thread actually convinced me to order. Boy, do I not regret it. Gorgeous outfit and hands down the most convincing Aragorn sculpt I've ever seen (including all of Sideshow's and Weta's work). He really does look alive. Well done, ACI!

Please allow these quick&dirty photos right after taking him out of the box. (No hairdressing yet, it's not too bad now, but I'm already thankful for the great advices in this thread.)

Nice buddy! Your's actually looks very good right out of the box. The curls covering the forehead looks quite nice! Here's mine right out of the box:

Then after customizing, cutting some hair out...tried to strenghten the curls with hair gel, but didnt hold too long. But here my current state - probably I leave it like this:

Man, all these in-hand pics are really bumming me out. Had to give up my pre-order months ago for financial reasons.

:(

Congrats to you guys, though. He's looking pretty great.

Hair looks too thick indeed, seems like it will take quite some work to get it to look right. Seems a bit overkill for a 300$ figure. Here's hoping chewbacca comes out without the same handiwork needed!

This is by far the best looking out of the box hair I have seen yet. I hope mine arrives like this.

Next try:

Applied more hair gel and shiny oily stuff from my girlfriend that I found in our bathroom. ;) I really want to get a look like this, but its hard:

I have these. They're knockoffs from China, but nice if you get them cheap. They don't exactly work for 1/6 scale figs, slightly too big. And as noted, the hilts have been swapped between the blades, I guess to "avoid" copyright infringment?

Yeah thanks, I was curious for size and weight and if 1/6 can hold them very well. Just interested in metal blades in general, now that I have the thought in my head... Those two links have some cool ones too. Noble collection, and generic metal swords.

Fine chopping guys! I dun think I could do that to mine when it arrives.

Great and very detailed review xenom0rph! I really enjoyed watching the video and agree 100% in your enthusiasm for this exceptional figure. Such a pity they can't continue with the license (for now at least). Our hope now is Asmus, they seem to be ambitious as well. Maybe you feel like doing reviews of some of their upcoming figures, in case you'll like them enough. A side by side review of the Aragorn figures would sure be interesting!

Exceptional review, Xenomorph. Very thorough. Mine arrived in San Francisco yesterday, so I should have this by the end of the week. Really excited to get this figure.

Great review. I am worried about the hair since I've never customized nor know a customizer to do the work...:horror The first step is to get it out of Chicago (been a week) then I'll figure out the rest.

Great review, xeno. They did a pretty amazing job on Aragorn. Love all the details and accessories with it. So much to look at and a very tempting figure but the dang Wraiths tapped me out. Like you say, it's a shame they lost the license as I don't think they were hurting Asmus and the two lines seem pretty complementary to me.
