I go on the WL every couple of weeks and it always converts in a few days. I'm still on the fence about it, but seeing how long the WL takes, shows me there's still plenty available.

I have never purchased busts, statues or maquettes from SSC before, but seeing the Elder Predator bust and this maquette at Comic-Con up close has tempted me more than ever.

Well, the Elder Predator bust was cancelled. That lead me to do a lot of reading and forum searching. Seems that SSC's quality control is regarded as iffy. So many stories of busts and statues arriving with broken parts and bad paint jobs have surfaced. Then, to add insult to injury, the limited run of such items often means you can't get a replacement. Some people claim to even wind up with gift cards they later find can't be applied to anything. Ay caramba!

While I accept that this maquette won't look as good as the prototype I saw at Comic-Con (which was absolutely stunning), I still want a $800 piece to be very good. What do you guys think? Since it's so big, do you think the paint job will be better? And what do you think the odds are the dorsal plates will arrive broken? I live in the states, so I'm not super worried about returning anything for a refund, but I assume something this pricey has a meaty deposit that isn't refunded.

The paint job will probably be the weakest part of this statue. In my experience Sideshow just isn't very good at painting, even larger items like the 3 foot tall Sauron pf has bad paint, though the sculpt is excellent. If it's damaged you can get a full refund including shipping, NRD the whole deal or exchange, if they have any more statues left, that is. Not sure if you get a full refund if you're not satisfied with how it turned out.

Re: Upcoming Sideshow GODZILLA Collectibles

15.88Kg Hmmm...
That will probably change.

24" is too small for a $800 G. Seriously need to think about this one.

It seemed huge at Comic-Con, but comparing it to other highly priced items it now seems somewhat small. The $2000 Obi-Wan is 40" tall.

My reservation converted and all, but I have a while (July-ish) to cancel.
