A few years back we had Hasbro and Sideshow with an odd Medicom figure here and there. Two trilogies.

Now we've got Hot Toys busting out figures in 1/6 and 1/4 scale in addition to Sideshow with any number of new live-action movies and spin-offs on the way. Some of us were talking about this in one of the previous HT threads, but what are you guys gonna focus on now? OT, PT, ST, old non-canon EU, new EU, HT, SSC, GG, Hasbro, Lego, core characters, one version of each character, one version PER MOVIE of each character, what? The options are insane.

Started with Hasbro 4" before adding 12" to the collection when Sideshow announced their Jedi Luke. Since Hasbro pretty much abandoned collector grade items, i'll certainly gather most of my collecting funds toward 12" figures both HT and SSC depending on quality. Will try and keep collecting across periods (PT/OT/ST).

All I can commit to at this time is HT 1/6 scale.....OT is a definate however, I can see getting pieces from PT, ST and EU. All super cool madness atm...

Got back into the game after a decade long hiatus. My main focus is on imperial troops. I started back up collecting with the black series 6" figures... Then I found this site and have since picked up sideshows snowtrooper and pre-ordered the biker scout and the hot toys stormtrooper.

1/6 core characters (Han, Luke, Leia, R2, 3P0, Boba, Lando, Ben, Chewie) from ANH and Hoth. Maybe something else that may pop up. I think Hot Toys and Sideshow are both releasing quality figures, so the whole debate on which is better has no bearing on my collecting.

Even restricting my collection as much as possible, it's still sadly going to be larger than I would ideally prefer. Mostly it will be ANH/ESB, with some stuff I really enjoyed cut out (Cantina and aliens, mostly... think I will be keeping my Tusken Raiders, though). ROTJ will be limited to Emperor, Royal Guards and Scout & Bike.

I really don't have an opion on buying from the new trilogy... if I like it I'll likely get figures, but if it's meh I might not.

I used to have quite a few PT figures, but I got rid of most of them and now just have 8 with Jango Pre-Ordered and plans to get the eventual Dooku. I might upgrade some of the PT figures if HT does them, but figures like Grievous, the one Clone I have and the Batttle Droids will not be upgraded as I'm quite happy with them and don't care enough to buy a new one even if there are improvements.

For the OT; I'm probably going to buy most of what Sideshow and HT have to offer in 1/6. I'm definitely dumping some of my existing OT Sideshow figures as the writing is clearly on the wall. Thankfully most of them were in the $50-$70 range so even if I loose money reselling them I won't take too much of a financial hit.

As T-kay I started with 3 3/4 inch hasbro before starting my collection of 12 'in 2009. A year ago I had ideas and precise theme cravings but price inflation and the arrival of hot toys upsets these projects. The situation can be summarized by saying that I will collect less but better. I preferred the main characters Account (PT-OT-ST) in only one version. So finished the thematic as before, all the Jedi, all the bounty hunter, all fig Hoth or all imperial of OT.

I have most of the PFs and once Savage Opress arrives that might be the end unless they make a new Han, or other characters that have not been done. I don't buy the clone repaints, and am skipping the new Vader and Boba. I don't plan on getting into the HT 1:4 line, unless they happen to produce characters upgrades to Luke, Han and Leia so I can replace the SS versions, or characters like Lando and Mara Jade (I know she's EU) that have not been done in PF form, which is highly unlikely.

Going forward my primary concentration is going to be Hot Toys 1:6 complemented by Sideshow 1:6 droids, aliens, creatures, vehicles and environments. I'll sell off the most of the old Sideshow human figures, or keep them for outfits and bashing. Will probably lose a tidy sum but it could be worse. I got most at retail or below. It's mostly the custom work I had done to upgrade but even that's not bad. Since I don't see Hot Toys venturing into creature, vehicle or environment territory, I actually think some Sideshow pieces like Jabba, Yoda's hut, and speeder bike are going to increase in value quite nicely. I should probably pick up a speeder or two, and I'll get one biker trooper as a placeholder because it may be years before HT does one if ever. I also don't think HT is going to be getting too heavily into the more complex aliens like Gamorrean Guards or Bossk, that will require new bodies that can't be reused, or PT droids like Grievous and Droid Troopers. I didn't order the SS 3PO because I have the Chogokin/Bandai, but holding on to the R2 preorder for the time being. Again not sure if HT will want to invest the $ into an R2 unless it's part of a 2-pack, which yes I would buy.
I'm hoping to see the core cast of OT (Luke, Leia, Han, Lando, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Darth, Tarkin, Boba, and Emperor w/Guards), then the core cast of PT (Anakin, Padme, Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, Mace, Yoda, Maul, Dooku and Palpatine w/Senate Guards), before Ep VII starts up. These are literally thousands of dollars in figures just for Hot Toys. I'll also be collecting Avengers and Batman vs. Superman, so there is going to be little budget bandwidth for anything else.

I wonder if anyone will make 1:6 X-Wing and Tie Fighters. I'm sure they could sell for upwards of $1,000 each.

HT getting the Star Wars license has been a long time coming, so I'm just glad to see it coming together.

OT core characters and Prop replicas. Decided to limit my 1/6 and 1/4 scale focus mainly on A New Hope (maybe a few ESB/ROTJ for dioramas) core characters. Decided to buy HT 1/6 ANH and ck1 all Sideshow 1/6 scale. I'll mainly focus on eFX releases that I like, hopefully a 1/1 Yoda and Stormtrooper. And then I'm out.

My focus right now is the PT figures from sideshow. (Mainly clones). I really want all the Jedis from battle of geonosis but I can't bring myself to buy them unless I have a way to customize their head sculpt and clothing.

I do have all the OT figures I wanted so far though. ESB & ROTJ Luke, the new ss vader, Palpatine and his throne, Imperial probe droid and snow trooper. But I see myself shifting towards the OT more in the next couple of years considering how fast hottoys are pushing out star wars figures.

For the OT; I'm probably going to buy most of what Sideshow and HT have to offer in 1/6. I'm definitely dumping some of my existing OT Sideshow figures as the writing is clearly on the wall.

Me too. I've decided to have a primarily ANH focused shelf, with a few ESB and ROTJ characters -- but all OT.

Luke
Leia
Ben
Han
Chewie
R2
3PO
Vader
Stormtrooper
Tarkin - somehow
Boba Fett
Emperor
Yoda

I'd be happy with that. Would keep SS Jabba in the mix. Anything else - trooper variants, odd aliens -- is pure gravy, unnecessary, but perhaps I'd add something once I have my core display. Most of my current collection is headed for the closet.

OT characters only for me. As of now I only have an emotional attachment to OT since I saw them when they original came out. Prequals for me pretty Meh! For new movie, OT core at this time. Will see if SSC or HT's offers me the best bang for my buck since prices are over the 200 mark now. Not sure why everyone is so excited about HT's doing Vader? The last SSC Vader was pretty bad ass. Not sure what can be improved unless they add voice and a light saber that lights up.

I mentioned it in the "getting out" thread. I have one foot out the door with the hobby since the prices are going through the roof, so I'm going to focus on Han. I'm getting the Han and Chewie set, and I'll get Bespin, Endor and Force Awakens Han if/when HT makes them. I will definitely consider a HT Vader, although I'm not sure I'll get the ANH Vader and may wait for an ESB Vader. And I'll also consider a HT ESB Leia. Everything else will most likely be a pass. I simply can't justify paying $200-$300 for a single figure.

I'll definitely keep an eye on things and see if I can ever get anything heavily discounted (like during Spook, etc). And I may end up getting a couple of figures from the Force Awakens, depending on how much I like the movie and characters.

This would be all 1:6. I don't have much interest (or space!) for 1:4, and all OT and maybe one or two ST. No PT.

I'm pretty happy with what I have, and the few things I have coming will round out my collection to a place where I will be content.

Nothing else now really.

I'm good with the vintage Kenner and Hasbro stuff. 3 3/4 of the best Original Trilogy figures and vehicles and maybe a few new things as they come down the line (I've been buying a few of the 6" Black Series figures). Never been into high end Star Wars, not when theres as much of it as there is low end. When it comes to the character selection, I've been buying "updated" versions of the original Kenner figures I had as a kid. The Big Millennium Falcon from a few years back, the big AT-AT in retro style packaging, the amazon exclusive Slave I, a myriad of those "The Vintage Collection" figures (like that fantastic Jedi Luke and Gam Guard). That's enough for me.

There will be a few Hot Toys 1/6 that will tempt me I'm sure (Farmboy Luke, '77 Vader, Ben Kenobi, etc.) and I'll probably give in if they're clearanced out on Sideshow's site if I dig them. Only iconic characters that are well done though.

I'm out of sixth scale for the foreseeable future. But I'm diving into replica prop building. Just scored a Graflex 3-cell for a decent price, and I'm beginning to source all of the components necessary to turn that into Luke's lightsaber hilt. Already on the hunt for a vintage Sterling submachine gun to build into an E-11. Much more satisfying, I hope, to make cool stuff as opposed to buying cool stuff built by someone else.
