The Honda silicone grease is less than $20. It also doesnt take that long to apply.

Off topic but I've had cars in the past where I've bought expensive car care products. Such as high quality wash liquid, claybar, polish, wax and applying materials.

Taking care of my action figures in any way is piece of cake compared to my other hobbies.

Rubber issues aside, I really think hot toys did a fantastic job on the accuracy of this figure
Very good articulation, paint is perfect , and other than the Asian voice, the sound effects are loud and startling(one of my kids actually jumped when I turned ed on)

I know it's going to get looked over due to the rubber issues and lack of popularity of this villain by the general public, but it's my figure of the year

The products are incompatible. If you use the silicon first, you'll have to thoroughly clean all the silicon off if you're going to apply modge podge.

If you have the dome coated in modge podge, a coating in silicon would be pointless.

Gotcha, thanks. I still can't decide which one to get... I keep hearing some push for the mod podge since the price is cheaper and the quantity is greater, while the Honda grease seems more "professional" and is not so much a coating as mod podge is.

I'm still torn as well; the grease makes more sense to me, as it reintroduces moisture to the rubber that may become dry and cracked, but I don't want a slimy slippery ED. On the other hand, I don't imagine the Mod Podge can be applied to the rubber boots around the joints, as they must remain flexible. Am I right on that?

Call me crazy but im not paying so much for a fig to HAVE to go get products to keep it safe. If they want to use cheap rubber fine i get it keep the cost down, but then they should be putting their own clear coat on it if they really care about quality but as time goes on they dont.

So this means my 70k GT500 shouldn't be washed/waxed? No preservatives on the rubber parts? LOL

Grease it man. As stated rubber doesn't rot as some like to think. That isn't what happens. It dries then cracks. Plain and simple. You don't need to seal it unless it's already cracking. Keep it from drying out. Plus u can't hit the joints w that modge podge.

Im like the majority and have no cracking. Previous posters (that don't have the figure) sayin it will be destroyed in 6 months or less are wrong. Mines been sitting out on my desk for a month or 2 and I haven't coated it w anything yet. I have the grease but I'm just watching it and seeing if it looks like anything is going wrong w it. Thing was 6 months old when I got it. Had it for a month or 2. Still looks pristine. So much for them all "rotting" in 6 months!

I think you're right. I'm also keeping an eye on mine and plan to hold off applying anything until there's some indication its necessary. Partially out of morbid curiosity as to whether the figure will hold up just fine without any treatment whatsoever.

I had this same issue when I cancelled my two T1 BD Terminators and reordered for triple-rewards with a $20.00 coupon. I spoke with a rep about it (since I had to order the two Termies over the weekend, then wait until Monday to speak with them about cancelling my existing order w/NRD) and she said that they can't trust the point total reflected on the order but that you should see that rectified when the points actually drop (I think 40 days after shipping). I won't know until January 15th, myself, but let us know once the points drop, if you can, fran!

Rubber doesn't rot and to hear these internet Cowboys get on here and crucify anyone spending their money on this figure cracks me up! I mean everybody's entitled to their opinion but what positive feedback is there to be gained from someone hopping on a post and insulting people for spending their hard-earned money on something they get enjoyment out of?? "I can't believe anyone would be so stupid to buy this" etc. when at the end of the day they don't have the figure, don't know what they're talking about, and are basing an opinion off of a few instances of defects. But at the end of the day this nonsense saved me a massive amount of money so again, thank you to all those people!!!

But back to the subject at hand. Generically speaking, dry rot is typically a fungus that affects products containing high levels of cellulose. Rubber drying out and getting cracked is not dry rot or rotting! It's usually from ultraviolet light or dry / Low humidity conditions. It's simple material properties. Keep the rubber from drying out, potential for cracking is very limited. The end. This is not a 100% guarantee it cannot happen. But at the end of the day keeping rubber from drying out will help prevent it from cracking.

The grease doesn't seem to make it any more "slimy" than it comes out of the box. Plus you need to apply it sparingly as to not have a crap ton of exesssive grease on the dome.

I've applied the grease to all my joints. Not sure you can put the mod podge on the accordion joints. I guess you could always seal the dome with mod podge and grease the joints with the Honda grease

Congrats to all the guys who took advantage of the sale. Now take some preventative measures that have been a proven anecdotal solution for quite some time now and the deal will even be better.

After the deep discounts on this and the problems it's had TWICE, I can't see Hot Toys tackling this guy again.
