Re: Current discount codes at SSC and Spooktacular codes - FR33COD3Z for $5

The only item I'm interested in has been on sale all week, HT Ada Wong. Just trying to talk myself out of purchasing it considering I got Wonder Woman and Catwoman PFs on Flex Pay both of which are ending next month.

I've had my eye on Ada as well, but I'm really hoping either Black Widow or Wolverine go on sale before the end of the day (probably not).

It's cost me many (many) times more dollars in wasted productivity in setting up and running the email list so other people can get notified of codes than I'll ever earn in points myself.

Then there are others like Yankee staying up all night to fire off emails. And cofphoto, despite winning all the contests, monitoring the social stuff like a hawk most of the day and into the night as well.

So, to that I say… New code D0N7C0MPLA1N

If I could rep this, I would. Instead, I'll just give you all props for putting the emails/notifications together.

If anyone was collecting Kenner/Hasbro mid-to-late 90's, the situation right now is "nothing but Landos" - or if your particular area was just a tiny bit different, "it's an R5-D4 kinda day"

I understood that reference! :lol

how come my Geek News period logo isnt showing up as my profile pic? hmmm is there a specific set of dimensions for it?

There's both a profile picture and an avatar, both of which need to be set separately. I just found this out last night when I finally put one up.

Oh man, now you guys pissed off Chicky.
There go the Freak giveaways.

I thought the fake codes were fun (I admit to falling for a few), but if they're leading to CS complaints at Sideshow, that's not great. Even if it seems nonsensical that anyone would call CS about these codes not working.

Well one thing I learned from this event - I really, really suck at contests.:wink1:

Welcome to the club. Whether it is answering a question, random selection or just plain begging I tend to strike out.

you are not alone my friend. i can enter a contest with 2 participants and i would still not win.

Can I join the contest losers club?

I don't always enter contests, but when I do I lose. ;)

I turn 40 in 2 weeks, I was hoping to win a birthday present but no such luck so far this year, guess I just have to buy myself something because I am pretty sure my ex won't buy me anything LOL

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and Spooktacular codes - FR33COD3Z for $5

This whole "I can't believe people are calling CS about the fake codes" thing reminds me of an incident a few years back where some people started hiding strange box-like objects in Boston in places like bridge trestles and attached to telephone poles. The city went on a terrorist alert because no one knew if the objects were bombs or what. It turned out that the objects were supposed to represent a character on an Adult Swim TV show called Aqua Teen Hunger Force, as part of a guerilla ad campaign for the show, and then when that was revealed the internet erupted with outrage that Boston could be so stupid as to not get it. Because, you know...Aqua Teen Hunger Force. It's just such a well-known, world-spanning media juggernaut, right? Of course it's Boston's fault for thinking that shady guys attaching box-like objects to bridge trestles might be dangerous. The internet was pretty unforgivably stupid that day. Cartoon Network paid Boston a lot of money and apologized. Also, I believe Boston arrested the asshats who were attaching things to bridges.

By the way, not all the fakes were of the D1CKW4D or CRA1G5M0M variety. Some looked like they might be real, and they did indeed waste my time. I don't resent the fact that they were posted--I resent the fact that they were posted and they weren't funny. A fake code should be obvious and it should be funny. It shouldn't be a "Gotcha!" thing where the object is to get people to try typing it in on Sideshow's site.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and Spooktacular codes - FR33COD3Z for $5

Idea: Take note of the **** heads who want to come in and dictate what we do between code announcements, do this in a private invite section next year where it's invite only. How do you think these people bitching about having to search through for their free handouts would feel if the free handouts disappear. I already gave rep to night for answers and I got to give much more to the people busting their ass to make this happen. :clap :hi5: :duff

To the leeches 'who are too busy' to help, dont get codes in time, or any other excuse, maybe you should just thank cof, pixel, etc... next time and take you're handed freebie cash and be grateful rather than bitching. If you don't like the way a party is being run.... run your own.
