Sort of caught up on all this Drama, dont know if or what was removed though, I do have to agree with a point clipper makes (and I speak form no experience with custom highend figures). I understand HT's has higher production numbers and that reduces the overall cost, but Clipper pointed out that another custom figure (carlitos way?) cost about 1/3 the price. So can someone bring me up to speed a bit on why theres such a huge discrepancy ?

Also read some pm's from The head honcho and clipper... That Denny Kim guy is a straight up *********, Clipper was thanking him and praising his work and he responded like he had his nose up in the air to all the simpletons (there on facebook for all to see)

First of all, your facts are incorrect. Carlito's way is licensed massed produced figure made by Blitzway with approximately 3000 units available at retail.

Secondly, I won't have to defend Denny in this thread.... because I'm pretty sure in about 5 seconds a bunch of others will.

I was aking some simple questions, this isnt my area of expertise and I stated nothing as "fact" I asked for some clarification on a point I saw made

And (still reading back) you said licensed figures cost more $$ (20k+) so why would a licensed figure (still considered custom or Indie) cost less? could Denny license these to bring the price down? or is it just production numbers..?

3 things...

1) MW / iminime is actually one of the most cost effective custom manufacturer when you look at the cost / value curve. Amazingly accurate sculpts, rockstar paintwork, and great costumes and incredible and ideated accessories. Overall, that equation for that price of a full figure is unbeatable and also the whole dx and superset things make it by miles a great priced value pack. (For me)
2) denny is the most approachable person in this size / scale business i have ever seen. I have not been around for long but i have spent "equal to alimony" money in past 8 months ;) ... I say that cause, a few more figures... My wife will toast me up. :)
3) Omar, takes a lot of heat from a lot of people, but anyone, and i promise anyone who has dealt with him, will realize that he is always out there to help you out. In fact if it was not for him, Rdezee and few others i wld have never even discovered this world! (I and Pop fight a lot but yeah Pop too.. Lot of value there!)

I make an ok living and with gods blessings, wife's support (with me getting a few occasional black eyes) , and some stretch and compromises i buy custom figures (yes compromises as i buy only with discretionary spend even if i have extra $$ i dont use them unless they are really extra)

Yes they are expensive, and yes many a times you will or anyone wil find a predicament justifying some of the prices you see, but my view is that MW is actually the best value vs quality that you will get out there. Period.

Dollar for dollar, just can't beat them...

expensive or not... You can't say that the product is poor. Infact its the other way round... 99 pct of time... (I have grievances massive ones with just one figure so far i bought ... thats it...but that's not the best example and its not MW anyways)

Lastly... Let's all air points and try and fight without punches and curses... I think its possible...

If u do the math it's simple. 3000 units spreads out the 20,000 license cost to about $7 a unit. That means that of the $200 or so Carlitos way costs about 193 of it are going towards production, marketing and profit.

Custom figure runs sell between 50 to 100 if that. Most cases much less. Let's say a figure run of 75 for argument sake. How much would the licensing be? Almost 50% of the purchase price. 50! Or $260.

$7 vs $260. I wonder where blitz way gets the money to pay for specialized boxes and improved bodies.

you seem very angry when you post, Only questions man...

so I assume there just isnt enough demand for Denny to up production then?

I smell a Troll

Yeah asking questions, trying to get some clarification, and learn a bit about this area of collecting is now trolling... only on SSF

There's no anger in my posts. That's being a scribed through projection. I'll start using smileys after everything to make my post sound less aggressive :)

smileys generally pass on the emotion of a post better than "!" just seemed like you were trying to hammer points home or something

Believe me Denny wants to and intends to make forays into the world of mass production. :) The Charlie chaplain figure is such a foray. ;) but mass production requires a significant investment as molds for things like bodies can cost 60k :hi5: and licenses can even be harder to get. :1-1: companies like hot toys have long standing relationships with licensing holding companies. Others need to work their way in. :lecture:

Let me make this easy for everyone .Customs cost more, just like bottled water. You drink from the tap or from a delicious bottle your choice.

My fish only drink bottled water straight from Denny's Korean toilet , only the best for my goldfish
