Reposting this because I edited in and clipper king missed it:

I've bought a Hot Toys figure and replaced the clothes, main accessories AND sculpt you think a body is gonna stop me? About the ONLY thing worth keeping on the DX 5 is the body and the hands--and some would argue that the hands are the ONLY thing. The stand and pedestal are nice too. But the Kato clothes, fisher accessories and any number of custom sculpts are better than the factory release. And by a lot

Same goes for the dx11 which I will have replaced the coat and sculpt on

That should answer your question

Pop, you and I have had some disagreements in the past... but today is NOT one of those days.

Let me start by saying that I’m not one of those people that have a problem with the way you speak and I’m not offended in the least by the fook word :lol. I actually dig the lingo from our brothers across the pond, I like you passion for the hobby and I dig your reviews. I think you do a great job and definitely know your s__t when it comes to the mass produced side of the hobby, but I have to say that it’s very evident that you’re completely out of your element when you’re talking about customs. You said that you won’t be offended if someone comes forth to say that you have it wrong…. so I don’t want you to be offended when I tell you that you have it waaaaaay off brother. Everything that you said is the usual set of ideas that we’ve heard 100 times from people who lack knowledge of the way the custom world works, and have ideas that are full of misconception and assumption.

I’m honestly wondering why you wanted to even spend an hour to review these figs? You don’t like Clint, don’t like this movie much or westerns at all in general, don’t really like customs and seem to have a set of feelings about custom collectors… so why review them? It’s kind of hard to be fair and honest when there is that much bias and misconception involved. For the 10 reasons already mentioned and another 50 more, you can’t compare mass produced stuff and customs in an apple to apple fashion. And to compare them to Carlito??? That may be the best mass produced sculpt TO DATE that sits on top of a great body with an awesome outfit and includes great extras… for $160-$180. HT won’t even give us that kind of package for that price point anymore. That figure is far from your average everyday 1/6 offering. But if Denny produced 3000(+/-) Blondies like BW surely did Carlito, then I’m sure it would’ve been offered in a much more similar price range.

Dude I like what you do but my humble opinion is you should stick to reviewing mass produced stuff. As is there is plenty of misconception out there about the custom offerings; no need to spread any more.

Truthful? Fair & balanced?? What's going on with you bro :lol. You're a guy that is a straight art figure collector, isn't into to the mass produced product and you find his ideas about customs truthful?

Hahaha! C'mon man. What is all this talk about misconceptions? What was not brutally clear or honest about that review? He's out of his element reviewing custom figures now? Dude your out of your element trying to even suggest that to a guy that has like 4000 subscribers doing somthing that is well within is element....REVIEWING FIGURES! He must be doing somthing right.

Here's a review coming from someone who is not a custom figure Hoarder, HOW REFRESHING! That review was full of praise, too much infact for someone your labeling as a custom figure hater. He doesn't like the film....so what! How many figures have you bought without even knowing a damn thing about the film! :rotfl. Am I mistaken in saying you were the guy that went scrambling to watch this GBU film when it was announced as a future product release? Was that you or am I missing somthing here? Do we need to press rewind pop, because I'll go digging in the archives for those comments.....:wink1:

Denny has bent over backwards to cater to his customers, more than any other figure maker on this board. That is true. On average, for what these figures are, the price is fair, that is also true. But have there been some major flaws.....absolutely. Everyone wants to talk about the technicalities of how the manufacturing process works with customs and blah, blah, blah. Spare me dude. What type of company is this! How about we start off with somthing easier....Which company is this? Is it Iminime or Masterworks?

Custom figures can't come with custom sculpted hands because it's not feasible with the accessories....what A GUN, 1 GUN? That is the craziest thing I heard yet. You know very well that custom hands are possible and the bring out so much more realism to a figure and would constitute real handmade work more so than just a painted headsculpt.

No one wants box art because why? All they need is the figure for $500 plus? Here's a thought, wouldn't box art also serve as an authentication measure much like a COA? So now you've got two ways to prove that it's the genuine article instead of a plain monogrammed box. Isn't it worth it to spruce up the presentation anyways? Some people like box art and some of those people are potential Denny Kim customers.

And the bodies.....their dog **** like clipper said, and yes there's a drought on Truetypes. Let's keep it real though, even if better bodies were available in abundance they would not have used them because Iminime or Masterworks just don't do that. They need to keep costs down while trying to maintain a certain quality level for their product. Fair enough. It may have been a bit of a stretch to compare the price points between Carlito and a single trio figure but it was very interesting to see that quality wise, more money for somthing doesn't necessarily mean better product. Cool, we'll chalk it up to the overhead and cost of producing these items for Denny compared to an enterprise like Hottoys. If Iminime or Masterworks have that mass produce ambition but lack the proper resources to compete at that scale, then why are they trying to project themselves that way because people who are new to this associate this brand more with the likes of Bros. Production, Blitzway, Enterbay than just someone making this stuff on their own time in a garage somewhere.

DAMN!!!!! if reviewing figures ever leads to an advertising income that would allow me to employ a P.R. manager Turbo Vs Ozone just got the job lol lol lol although he did forget to mention that on top of 4000 subscribers I'm now generating over 5000 views daily ......check me out , I hear my superman badge is in the post lol lol lol

After watching Clipper's review of the Dollars figures, I have to say that he has hit the nail on the head. Everything he said about customs and custom collectors was spot on.

And it feels that what were once unique figures are now owned by a fair number of people - everyone just has the same 'custom' figures.

I think true custom figures are those made by people like Elvis/Seb - they are superb. All one off figures that he isn't producing just to cash in.

So... uh ...now that the hatless head is being mass produced is it moral and ethical to buy one now ?

This happens OVER and OVER again, people direct the custom figure market "problems" to Iminime and attack them for it when other custom artists (RM, Serang, etc etc) have the same ****ing problem and potentially more but no one seems to want to step on their tail. Why? Is it because Denny Kim is approachable on the forums or is it because Wake is a voice for the company? In any case, we ALL know the packaging is lacking, the bodies are crap, and some don't find it as valuable as others. There's no point in justifying costs to a person who doesn't see it's value.

I can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking my head up a bull's ass, but I'd rather take a butcher's word for it.

What about custom collectors? Christ alive, half the time, it seems like some people never left high school. There are no "cliques" here, just people who share the hobby. Why is it so crazy for someone to spend $500 on a figure to some collectors? Do you have any idea how ****ing nuts a non-collector would think you were if you told them you were buying an action figure for $200-300? We can argue semantics all night about "Collectibles" or "hand painted artwork," but, to anyone outside this hobby, you just spent $200 on a glorified G.I. Joe. Take solace in the fact that, if someone spends $500 on a figure, they understand where you're coming from, and they appreciate these things for what they are, as well. Rather than saying that someone who spends more on something is an "elitist" or a "snob," maybe just take into account that the figures you buy are luxury items, too.

Another thing to keep in mind: some of these guys who buy customs have small, focused collections, while some people who buy Hot Toys figures buy everything they put out. You can say "I'd never spend $1000 on one figure," but what's it matter if you spend $1000 on five or one? You still spent $1000 on these things, and you're still just as looney as the rest of us.:lol

^This. Very well said as always Batfan.

I also kind of took the "everything he said about...custom collectors was spot on" comment as pretty judgmental and rude. Is it that he is right or that his view fits yours? It just seems like you are trying to kick dirt into peoples faces, especially when you are typically a HT collector who hasn't posted in this thread previously. It is like going to a Marvel Legends thread and talking about how dumb and cheap and childlike those toys are in a thread populated by people who collect those. Come on man.

One time I went to church and asked the priest why do I have to confess my sins to you, if we are all equal in gods eyes , why cant I just tell jesus himself? He told me to put my clothes back on and leave the room, on the way out I grabbed his Hank Williams JR. Custom figure hooped it and thats how I started collecting.

Lol....that was a good one!

It's all semantics. Maybe we should just define "custom" so when people get on someone's case, we will know they are right and everyone else is wrong.:cuckoo:

Before anyone tells me wrong thread , i know !!! only posted here because i follow up on some of my points from my last review (the good the bad and the ugly)

So much truth here, I don't own any 'custom' figures but given my general opinion once was that the big ballers go with Iminime over say Hot Toys (which is where I once would of agreed with Clipper's elitist comment) the fact every Tom **** and Harry has them now doesn't really make them special at all anymore, they're just expensive figures (which will no doubt be rotated out of certain people collections every bit as frequently as their Hot Toys/Enterbays are)

Its funny that the most judgmental attitudes of derogatory nature come from those who ''dont own any 'custom' figures''... while those who do own seem to be on the other side (barring the real elitist with a vendetta here).

Class Struggle ala Marx?? Not referring to Groucho, Gummo or the likes...
