Re: Wolf King Dr. Chemical Poisoning Sixth Scale Figure (Breaking Bad)

Funny that we didn't get this onslaught of Breaking Bad stuff until well after the show ends. I never pulled the trigger on a chem suit, so will probably pick this up for that. Particularly since it comes with shoes and gloves as well. But the head sculpt is really off, and I don't recognize the gas mask, though it's possible I just don't remember that one being used.

Re: Wolf King Dr. Chemical Poisoning Sixth Scale Figure (Breaking Bad)

Basically you like having all of the power to be able screw over a seller? :lol Ebay sellers have next to no protection anymore. Definitely a great place for a buyer, but horrible for a seller. But since most stores use Paypal too, there really is no difference protection wise.

There are numerous reputable retailers that have been around much longer than most ebay sellers, Monkey Depot among them. Check out the dealer section of the board. Lots to choose from in there.
Flip side of that though is there are some shady web sites and sellers out there. In that case honestly I'm sorry but I'm protecting myself and my money. I've never tried to screw a seller or anything like that I just do what I'm comfortable with. Especially when dealing with a fair share of money like 1/6th figures cost. I do trust places who use PayPal so in that case I'd be more open.

Re: Wolf King Dr. Chemical Poisoning Sixth Scale Figure (Breaking Bad)

I trust eBay because of buyer protection and PayPal runs directly through them. I won't preorder stuff there but once items are actually out I'd trust them more than a lot of places (depending on seller feedback and other variables). I've never heard of Monkey Depot so I guess I didn't know how reputable they are.

What is eBay Buyer Protection? That's a rhetorical question. It's simply a program run through PayPal. What are they protecting you from? It's simply a marketing gimmick. If a guy rips you off, you still end up going through PayPal, and if the guy is smart, he will clean out his PayPal account, and PayPal can't do anything.

eBay doesn't offer anything that credit cards don't already do, eBay just charges sellers 10% so that buyers can 'feel safe'. I got ripped off years ago from an eBay seller, and PayPal said "Sorry, there's no money in his account, so we can't refund you." So, I said "Screw it" and called my credit card company. I got my refund a day or two later. eBay has done a tremendous job marketing themselves as some safe haven, while credit cards have always just 'been there'.

Credit cards are just as safe, I'd argue MORE safe than PayPal for precisely that reason. If you don't get what you ordered, you dispute it with your CC, and you get your money back. With PayPal, the seller has to have money in their account for anything to happen. eBay and PayPal make millions in their business, but when it hits the fan, they're not going to help you.

Hell, when my CC got hacked, my bank instantly shut the card down and called me. If my PayPal account gets hacked, is PayPal going to call me and let me know?? Probably not.

Further than that, eBay gives Chinese sellers highly discounted shipping and makes it unfair for US sellers trying to sell the same product. It's ******** that it's cheaper for people to buy an item from China than it is to buy that same item from a US retailer. Why the **** Chinese sellers can ship an item with USPS ePacket for free, and I end up paying $3.55 to send the same item to New York blows my mind. But that's kind of a political discussion that's not suited for the boards, but I just wanted to throw that out there to explain why I have an extreme distaste for eBay/PayPal.

Basically, if you want to support US retailers, buy from a store and pay with a credit card.

Re: Wolf King Dr. Chemical Poisoning Sixth Scale Figure (Breaking Bad)

Monkey Depot has been extremely reputable for many years, and I don't think you don't pay upfront for pre-orders using credit cards. But it's been awhile since I pre-ordered from them. Customs aside (where you have no option) I wouldn't pay upfront for a pre-order in most cases, though, whether it be from eBay or elsewhere.

I don't believe that's the case anymore. Now, I'm pretty sure EBay will refund folks even when the sellers clear out their accounts.

Fair enough, but like I said, there are numerous reputable stores known here - Monkey Depot, Toy Anxiety, Alter Ego, Vantage Collectibles, Time Walker Toys, etc, etc

Like the others have chimed in, don't think ebay is the safety net it advertises itself to be.

Yeah I know nothing is flawless I've just always had good luck with eBay. I guess really though PayPal itself offers a lot of protection so if a seller uses that I feel safer. I

Re: Wolf King Dr. Chemical Poisoning Sixth Scale Figure (Breaking Bad)

I like this set and everything that comes with it, EXCEPT for the headsculpt. The Eleven sculpt appears to be more on point.

Re: Wolf King Dr. Chemical Poisoning Sixth Scale Figure (Breaking Bad)

Yeah when does this come out and where exactly can I order from?

Re: Wolf King Dr. Chemical Poisoning Sixth Scale Figure (Breaking Bad)

Good looking set... I like the Eleven Toys one a bit better though, this one is close, but the sculpt is not as nice.

Re: Wolf King Dr. Chemical Poisoning Sixth Scale Figure (Breaking Bad)

I don't ever understand why people rush to preorder these things. When they are out, the sets will be broken down and parted out, for around the same price you will be able to pick and choose the best parts from both this and the eleven set and put together the optimal figure.

I've had all the WW gear put together for a couple years now but seeing things like this make me glad I didn't pull the trigger on the massively overpriced MW set. I got the head which is still better than either of these and Jessie. Ill nab the odd part from these sets like the gloved hands and mixers and rhe glasses if they turn out and likely the eleven head as one to display under the mask so I don't ruin the paint on the Mw head.

But this provides a great affordable option for those who also thought the orange chem suits were dumb and wanted the yellow version and mask.

Re: Wolf King Dr. Chemical Poisoning Sixth Scale Figure (Breaking Bad)

The ELEVEN sculpt looks way better, plus I think you get two pait of glasses, and a barrel. I'll go with the ELEVEN set and buy the mixing bowl from this.

Oh, and Monkey Depot has been around forever, they're reputable. They ship fast, pack well and are friendly. I'm kinda surprised someone hasn't heard of them....

Re: Wolf King Dr. Chemical Poisoning Sixth Scale Figure (Breaking Bad)

Also supporting monkey depot. Can't get much more reliable than those guys.

But again, why preorder anything? You have two options.. Why not wait until they are both out and decide what's the better way to go with in hand pics?

With these bootleg kits you on,y ever have a problem getting anything maybe over a year of its release. Maybe never.

Take it from a 7 + year 1/6 customizing vet... This is the way to get the best figure in the end at the best price. Patience is a virtue.

Tell that to anybody who buys figures directly from eBay sellers for like $100+ just to get it a month earlier. That makes no sense to me.

Totally agree.

That's why I either wait for a local dealer to get it or buy sideshow. I'll admit as much as I support dealers like MonkeyDepot I'd only use them to preorder non sideshow items and only if they offered a crazy discount but they usually don't.

Most people don't realize there is not a lot of money in the sideshow/hot toys business for wholesale vendors and local dealers since Sideshow operates as both retailer and a wholesaler there's little incentive for vendors to carry the items. Their mark up is only like 20 percent and the buyers save really only on shipping when they get it from them so it's basically a service to local customers. And sideshow can close the account to any wholesaler that discounts their product! I get a discount from my dealer because I have a general customer code. It's a loophole and I'm not even sure they are aware of it. Of course I'm not saying who my dealer is I don't want to break up a good thing. My point though is that going through dealers other than sideshow is not always the best route either.

It's also why the Asian markets get them faster also because sideshow technically wholesales from them. I've learned patience is a must with the mass releases, these things are expensive and costs add up. And also as cool as something is it's only as cool as the next thing, if you practice insatiability you will be both broke and a hoarder. There's too much stuff out there.

I will however use eBay for the random things like this, but never ever before they are in hand auctions. You don't want to trap yourself by preordering on eBay with a potential rip off artist or someone who ends up getting the item months after the other guys.

Sorry for the off-topic rant!

Re: Wolf King Dr. Chemical Poisoning Sixth Scale Figure (Breaking Bad)

yup, I won't PO these. I'm gonna wait to grab one set or the other and then try to grab some of the extra accessories from the set I don't buy once everything is released.

A certain Art figure totally disagrees with the wait and see method. That proves its NOT always best to wait and see with bootlegs. :lol
