Hey guys, just want to shoot out a quick update.. Henry from Yes Anime recently received a production sample from PI, packaging & all..he was kind enough to give me an exclusive look at the 1/4 War Machine 2, & all I can say is WOW... Pics from previous cons is totally different from final product. the con samples were 100% plastic with fixed like power pose limbs, which meant the armor pieces were fixed along with most of the joints which gave it an odd statue like look.
Well rest assured this final product is AMAZING.. YES Anime will lend me the model for pictures & maybe a video review..so I will post details/pics as soon as I'm able to, & yes I will compare him side by side with HT diecast war machine..
I know it's been a long time coming but the wait is over & well worth it..

Ok people here are some photos I took over the weekend, I will go over the details from each photo & I'll try my best to be as descriptive as possible..
Outer box is a very heavy duty slip cover never seen one this thick before, Front artwork of box with War Machine is action, the IRON MAN txt in front is actually made from metal pretty cool. Back of box printed with your typical warnings, company info, etc....
Slide the slip cover off & you'll see War Machine is housed in foam packaging which is currently industry standard for 1/4 scaled figures, it consists of 2 layers, top layer holds the figure, alternate head, extra hands & shoulder cannon.. 2nd layer holds the light up base, acrylic post, clamp, batteries & acrylic name plate.
First time picking WM up I said to myself “Holy Crap” he’s freaking heavy, you’ll get that cold touch only diecast robots can give, much like chogokins from the past (Godaikins,Popy,Clover), when diecast use was the norm but this is not a normal diecast, everywhere you touch has that nice cool metal feel.. For this guy to be that heavy some parts of the internal must be diecast also. I initially thought he weighed 5lbs at most but to my surprise it’s not, there’s a pic of him on a digital scale(scroll down for results).
Here's all the contents laid out, forgot to mention he comes with a action back drop also, again printed on heavy duty board. WM face plate, chest plate & bicep plates(all metal) are removeable & are attached by magnets. PI did a good Job with Don Cheadle's face sculpt.
WM has lightup features similar to HT 1/6 IM figures with a few additions. He has light eyes, chest, palms, feet & cannon. The base also lights up & has a cool lit up acrylic name plate feature.
Articulation is pretty good(not sure on how many points total), range of motion could be better, but still able to pull of some cool action poses. Most joints are friction & ball socket.
Yes he weighs in at 6lbs 2.8oz now that's how a proper diecast should weigh!
Here's side by side comparison shots with HT Diecast WM, IMO they're both good, both have minor flaws..obviously the larger 1/4 WM will have a few xtra features & details not possible on HT 1/6 WM.
I'm pretty excited & I think PI did an amazing job especially for their 1st attempt in scaled collectible figures.. & they will only get better..Compare & judge for yourself!

How far can the head look up? A flying pose would take quite a rig with that weight but if it could look right doing it that might be a selling point for some people, esp with the light up feet

Agreed, face plate looks a tad off but the rest looks solid.
How tall is the actual figure? Yeah it's 1/4 scale I know.

It looks good but NOT $700 good..or is it more? Why they didn't start with Mk 42 I'll never know...if this doesn't move the chances for more are.....?
However, it looks good to me and a pleasant surprise...not sure the limited articulation compared to HT's 1/6 helps...

I'll stick with HT for half the price. Mark 42 a maybe, because they have pepper HS. This company has a record of delaying products too.
His head movement range is similar to HT IM figs so it cannot lift up high enough for flight pose..
I didn't get a chance to measure his height but he's roughly 19" tall, I have a 18" display shelf & he didn't fit
MSRP is $610, some hobby/comic shops might offer it lower..
Mark 42 will be the 3rd release after Iron Patriot..

Yes if I get one of these it will be the Mk 42!
I'm also disappointed with the screw covers on the back area. it looks pretty bad at this scale
they need to do something about it.
also they need a way so people can pose this figure in a flying pose.
the feet have light up feature but stand they provide can only support standing pose?
also curious about the articulation on this one. many thanks for gullion for sharing

Beautiful pics, that War Machine is really awesome. What happened to Iron Patriot and Mark XLII? I hope they are not cancelled, they no longer appear on their website...

The eyes are too tall... maybe? I think that's what seems off about it.
Those shoulder joint gaps are driving me crazy.
I do like the Cheadle sculpt. Great job there.
