I'll be in talks with you via PM for a a set of decals for War Machine when your ED-209 list goes up. Depending on how the pricing goes at that time I might pick up a set for ED and War Machine. I'm not a fan of stickers myself, they look cheap. Only benefit is that it is reversible. I just didn't think that the decals were a permanent upgrade but can see why since you need to layer it with lacquer. Would the installation instructions for ED apply to War Machine as well if I pick that up?
I still have a complete photo-illustrated tutorial for the War machine decal application, which I would be happy to email to you if you buy the decals. And yes, the masking technique and materials required are the same.
One more thing: I just realized, if I sell enough ED-209 decals that I need another page of them printed, I can ask my printer guy to replace ONE slot on the ED-209 page with TWO sets of War Machine decals. I could then charge you the same price as the ED-209 set, because they would be taking up that much space on the page. (plus a set-up fee, because the printer has to change his template) Sound fair?

Thanks for your interest, and for your kind compliments.

I went 1-for-2 today with post office deliveries, all Robocop related. I got my Hot Toys ED-209 but not my Enterbay Robocop. USPS sent it to the wrong post office for delivery. Hopefully, tomorrow I'll get Robo. In the meantime, ED-209 is everything you guys said it was. Wow. Hell, only a few years ago we got the first version of ED and it was great but this...this...is remarkable. Hot Toys again builds on its reputation as the premier 1/6 scale collectible company. Glorious figure and I guess I'm not a big nitpicker as I thought I was going to be--I really dig the voice and sound feature. Sure, it could have been better but for what it is, as Emil Antonowsky would say from the film, "I LIKE IT!"

So...I looked up amazon for laquers and I found good ones with the properties you advised.
Guess it's now my decision if I like ED how he comes, or if I get a set of your decals...
:lol

Honestly ED looks amazing as is though i do agree with anthrapoid about ED's legs rails being too dark. The oil leaks look really cheap too like they're drawn on with a pen, wish they hadn't done that. I've gotten used to the voice too and use it often.

Yes Timo, it's up to you- but if you do decide to get the decals, be sure you buy a SPRAY lacquer, not liquid in a bottle. Brushing on liquid lacquer with a brush will damage the decal ink. When they are spray-coated, they get layers of really strong protection with no risk of brushing damage. I made this mistake ONCE with the War Machine decals, but never again.

Good eye - yes, the slide rails should have been the same bright metal tone as the elbows.
Obviously I love the figure, or I wouldn't be going to all this trouble for the upgraded decals, but... that doesn't mean I can't be critical at the same time.
I've considered masking off the end caps, and using some of my Testors 1181 Aluminum enamel to add some highlights to the rails, and maybe use a small cloth to rub some up and down the length of the slide rails, so it's not actually a coat, but just a lengthwise rub, like a 'stain'.
This particular 1181 tone is the ONLY metallic paint in the 'silvery-color' family I have ever found that dries totally and completely. Not a trace of tackiness when it's dry.

What do you think of the oil leak detail?

I think it was a failed attempt at adding realism... I don't like it at all. I thought about using a tiny amount of superglue de-bonder to rub the oil paint off, but it's not going to happen; I checked behind the little 'knee flaps', and you can see the actual color of the plastic there, unpainted. it's a very slightly darker shade than the outside armor, which means all the flat gray armor on the figure is painted. That means that if I try to remove the oil drips with solvent, it will damage the paint as well.
The other option would be to mix some paint that matches the armor color as closely as possible, thin it down, and paint over the oil drips by hand. Then the new painted spots could be polished with a cloth, and it might be nearly invisible.

Yeah, I read your advice and particularly looked after spray laquer, which won't yellow over time, dries fast and not water soluble. Got'em on my wishlist now...
:)

A question for a question... nice
I will be moving soon and would like to box him back up.. is this ok?

i've had this guy since Thursday but due to the passing away of my grandad and being away from my home, i have only now just Had more time to really admire ed209 and it really does pay to have the ability and space to display this guy. He's an absolute beast such an eye catcher. Great work on hot toys part.

here are two quick snaps of him on display, i have a robocop poster im waiting to frame which will be going behind him for a backdrop.
