All I can say is...MAGNIFICENT! Supes just arrived today and I couldn't be more pleased with how he looks. I mean, this piece is unreal. The costume, the paint apps, and the sculpt are all top notch. The EX head looks great. I LOVE the noodle eyes. I won't even bother with the small red eyes. For me personally, this EX was designed for the heat trails and they look perfect with the EX head sculpt. The small red eyes just don't quite work for me. Also, nice of SSC to provide duplicate heat trails and small red eye plug ins. This way, if someone were to lose one of them, they have extra for back up. He's set up right next to my Bats EX and they truly look fantastic together. This PF is pure WIN!

OK, now for just a few minor details that need to be discussed. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS THAT COME WITH YOUR PF. The directions tell you how to insert the EX eye features and his cape. The eyes are pretty simple. They are rubbery in nature and bend easily. The way I put them in was fairly simple. I put the plugs into the sockets and just used my finger nail to press them firmly into place. Worked perfectly. Now for what I consider to be the only flaw on this PF...the cape. Inserting the cape can be a pain. Be very careful and take your time. For me, the one peg design to hold up his cape doesn't make much sense. That's a lot of weight to place on one spot to support the cape. I think a dual peg system would have worked much better. The biggest problem inserting the cape is how narrow the opening is around his neck. You have to be very careful lining up the cape before you insert the peg. If you rush things or are not careful, you can easily scratch the neck on the head sculpts because you have to put his head on before his cape. It's the opposite of the Bats PF. Since I heard ahead of time that the peg can have problems being fully inserted into the slot, I actually used a little dab of WD 40 on the metal peg. I sprayed a little on the corner of a piece of paper towel and applied a little only to the metal peg. The peg slid in with no problem and the PF looks great. If you do this, MAKE SURE you wash your hands before handling the cape or PF. You don't want WD 40 on his cape or uniform. The biggest problem with the design of the cape is that EVERY TIME you want to switch head portraits, you'll have to take off the cape. That's kind of a pain in the @ss and probably could have been avoided with a better design. Saying all that, I can honestly tell you this is by far the very best Superman statue I have ever seen and I can't begin to explain how much I'm enjoying him in my collection. This is truly one of those special pieces that every Supes fan can enjoy and appreciate. To all of the peeps at SSC associated with giving us such an AWESOME Supes PF, take a bow. It's well deserved.

You could definitely draw a better base design for sure :clap

Design wise it would take 5 minutes....lol.

None of the three bases match up though. Not like the batvillians. But I dont think it really matters and is a pretty silly complaint. I just hope WW looks like her prototype just like Superman seems to. Heck for that matter, based on what has been teased, none of the JL will have matching bases, but they all seem to represent something that ties to the character and I think works quite well.

It isn't so much that they match in theme, but level of detail. Even if the base just had a series of more intricate crystals so it was more detailed that is all they would have to do

I don't mind the base at all. The tiny thing that bothers me the most is that his feet aren't both firmly on it. OCD I know, but at least let him rest his entire foot on the thing.

I am loving mine so much. I cancelled the Reeve due to the situation with my son's brain tumour and the requirement for him to have proton therapy in the US later this year but if I get any spare cash I may pick up the Cavill MOS PF as I'm really impressed with the factory paints, tailoring on this.

I hope everything turns out ok for him. He is in my prayers.

Thanks all. Superman means a lot to us....even though he's a huge iron man fan. He was diagnosed at four years old and we were rushed to a specialist neuro oncology unit at a hospital in a nearby city. That night a friend in the US sent me an image of an Alex Ross Superman and quoted the Reeve thing about Hope. Since then, the big S has become our symbol of hope. Even last week when we were told about the new surgery and proton therapy, when we got home I had the shipping confirmation for this. I know it sounds dumb or crazy but it gives us something to aspire to and has helped us cope or bond over all of this stuff going on...just think, there are people out there thinking they are just statues or figures...

Here is the answer from SSC on my inquiry about my figure and the controversial questions about flex payers vs paying in full:

Sideshow : the Superman Premium Format figure will be arriving in waves and we are fulfilling orders by date order placed
me: okay so it's not based whether I'm a flex payer or not ?

Sideshow : with the flexpay orders, we tried to keep final payments on schedule as much as possible, but we can only receive so many statues per shipment
it is a very large shipping box

me: Well I placed my order on day one upon availability and it seems that other people are getting theirs ahead of me-flex payers actually.

Sideshow : we have tried to keep as many of the flexpay orders on schedule as possible. The orders have been charged all along , you see
they have paid quite a bit of money towards their statue already

Seems like double talk to me- first it's based on when you order, according to the rep, and then the music changes and it's based on flex payers making payments all along. Whatever. I guess it will come when it comes!

I'd thought I share.
