re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

I bought stuff for years with the hopes of displaying it. I'm finally doing that now, but I've bought and resold quite a bit over the years as I changed my focus. I also don't have a lot of display space, so that's kept me from buying too much since I'm wanting to keep my display cases clean. We'll see how long that lasts. :lol

I've changed focus quite a bit myself. I'm finally at the point where I'm happy with my core collection and can see having it for a long time. Of course some things will always come and go, it's my nature. I'm just trying to ween out my fads, if that makes any sense. As much as I'd love to let go completely, and have said I would before, I just can't bring myself to do it.

Let go of the MASK... :monkey3

:lol

You'd love that wouldn't you. :lol

I'm still planning I'm selling a good chunk of it, just haven't gotten there because I have so much of it. Are you looking for only complete vehicles?

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

Is it too early to call Brewers taking the division followed by the WC going to the sCrUBS? :lol
Cubs ain't gettin' squat! :thwak I wouldn't rule Pitts out though, even though we did just sweep em...

See, my problem is that none of it has been displayed, not will be for a while. I keep collecting stuff on the hope that I'll have the chance to display it someday. I have tried to narrow it down to vintage stuff and specific properties (Indy, sw, Dark Crystal, Tron, Black Hole, etc.) But I do have the occasional piece from other lines.

You guys hit it on the head! I've recently started displaying as much stuff as I possibly can. BUT the problem is, in the back of my mind, I still want to hang onto most of the boxes, in case I ever need to resell anything. So I'm not doing a good job of saving space! Sure, the boxes will go into the basement, but the basement is already cluttered. I need to go through a ton more, and unload a ton more, and display a ton more. I have a loooooooong way to go, and not enough time to do it! I gotta start concentrating on the lawn soon...

Last night, I opened a full case of Muppets vinylmations I bought on Ebay. The pics I posted recently showed waves 1 and 2. This is wave 3. I was a bit worried I could get ripped off, cuz the case I bought wasn't sealed. Very easy to swap out boxes, and claim it was complete if it ain't sealed. So I video taped my box opening, as proof to Ebay, in case I got duped. Well, the condition of the individual boxes was poor, and there was glue residue as if some were tampered with. I thought for sure I got robbed. But, for once, I have a happy ending. Scratch that. The story ends happily. Each case is supposed to have one chase figure. Either the standard chase, or a variant chase. The standard chase is Walter. The variant is actually a variant of a basic figure, Snowth. My case had Walter, and TWO VARIANT SNOWTHS!!! Somehow they ****ed up. I had no regular snowth, only the variants. I verified online that I was not mistaken. I have two variants, plus the chase. So, now I need to buy the regular one online (currently $13 shipped, but I may do better). I'll probably try to buy two of them, so I can sell a complete set online, with the variant chase (but I"m keeping Walter), and recoup much of what I paid! I got real lucky for once...

I changed my focus, too (YODA FTW!!!), but that really only slowed me down. It didn't stop my addictive urges. I buy LESS of other things now, but I'm trying to buy more and more Yoda things I didn't already own. So in the long run, I think I'm buying MORE overall. I'm finally quitting Sideshow 12", and my Maul travesty may have me quit them even more. I'm still getting that Vader Mythos, since I blew my wad of points on it. But I may get some PF's still. I'm not selling the Star Wars PF's I currently have, but I will unload others (LOTR and horror).

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

I'm more or less out of room. 95% SW with some comic stuff thrown in topped off by a small helping of LOTR. I have room for my Supes PF that should be shipping soon, but I have no idea where I'm putting the upcoming Cap PF, not to mention the 3 Cap HT figs I have incoming as well.

As I sit here and stare at my art wall, I could see myself unloading a couple of pieces but not much more than that. I've always said I'll bow out gracefully when I'm happy with what I have and I can see that point rapidly approaching.

Haha yeah. Yeah, mostly complete vehicles. I could be ok with some things missing, but I know I'd probably want to track them down eventually. I can't believe I missed Cory selling all his in that lot. I was sad.
What are you mostly collecting now? I don't think I've ever seen many pics of your collection other than a shelf with Chewy stuff on it.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

Awesome story on the Vinylmations! Those variants are hard to get and worth a lot.

I actually went crazy for a while buying figures for a kid in the future. Actually collected a bunch of OT sets from the Galactic Heroes line years ago which is kinda cool since the figures are long gone. They are all still in packages and they just immediately went in to storage. I also bought a Vintage series B-wing since it was my favorite vehicle as a kid.

Congrats on the Vinylmation hit! You can potentially sell the extra variant and do even better. I really wish I liked the Vinylmations more. They make all the licenses that I love but I just don't like the design of the base figure.

I was a Chewbacca focus collector for many years but got to a point where I had almost everything that I wanted so I stopped (still have it all). Over the last year I found myself collecting a lot of Fett and Ewok stuff.

The comic strip or the band?

I have some stuff you'll want then, just give me a little more time. Yeah I can't believe Cory sold it too. He offered it to me but I didn't have the cash. And then the dude that bought it was a complete prick. Sheesh...

As to what I'm collecting now, mainly:

Indiana Jones
The Dark Crystal
Tron
The Black Hole
Dune
Pee-wee Herman (Playhouse)
Vintage Universal Monsters (Remco, etc.)
Vintage Star Wars
E.T.
Diecast (HW Retros, Hearses)
Lego
Wax Packs

And of course the random oddball thing that catches my eye.

Haha, the band. Forgot about the comic.

Yeah, the way that turned out made it hurt even more with the dude crying about it all...I would've been super happy with it for that price. What sucks is I told Cory when he got it if he ever sold them I'd be interested and to look me up. Never heard from him, and it was sold. :dunno There is no rush. I kinda want to buy a big lot all at once. I hate buying one here and one there. I have no where to display them anyway. :lol

Did they make a lot of Dune and black hole toys? Don't recall ever seeing much, same with Dark Crystal. I know they recently did some Dark Crystal stuff.
I'm thinking about trimming down some collection stuff too... but I like everything I collect. haha. So it's hard to choose. I'm planning on just stopping with a lot of the new stuff and finishing off older things I haven't yet. Like the vintage SW, the last 2 Pee Wee figs I need, etc.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

Dune and Black Hole had about 6-7 figures each. Dune also had sandworm and maybe a vehicle?

I think I remember seeing the black hole ones now. All that was before my time collecting.

They also made some 12-inch figures (not mine).

Dune and Black Hole had about 6-7 figures each. Dune also had sandworm and maybe a vehicle?

Dune had 6 figures, the Sandworn and the Spice Scout. They also made 3 little battery operated Spice vehicles and 2 handheld roleplay weapons.

Tron had 4 figures and 2 Lightcycles.

The Black Hole is the annoying line. In the US 3.75" line they made 6 humans and 3 robots. Then in Italy they released the same 9 plus 2 more robots and the elusive Humanoid. In addition to all that, they made all 6 humans in 12" scale. Overseas they also released a 10" scaled line of the robots that were kits held together by magnets. They're awesome but really rare and expensive.

The Dark Crystal had a planned toy line by Aviva but it was scrapped. It's legendary now and the protos go for big bucks. They are my ultimate holy grail. I'd sell almost anything to own even one of them.

I love all these licenses because not only are they near and very dear to my heart, but they're also easy to collect. I don't just collect the toys, I collect all related merchandise: trading cards, lunchboxes, books, novelty items, etc. I love all of it.
