Absolutely one of the most gratifying episodes ever! I love the guessing game. You could tell George RR Martin wrote this episode. Lord Varys knows something as he was acting nervous during it. Also, was that the same song played during the wedding by that quartet as the one played during the Red Wedding?

'bout dam time! Saw it coming last year, it was a matter of being patient and to see how badly he would suffer. Bastige!!!! Yes!!!!!!

Have to say I'll miss Joffrey, it was fun to hate him.

And yes, they announced a while ago that the role of Tommen had been recast.

On a side note...

I agree. You hate the guy but he brought a nice flare to the show. it was fun to despise him. He's an amazing actor. i hope he gets more work like the potter kids did.

Wow, another brilliant episode. Ramsay Snow might be a psychopath but I am loving his character.

Now to determine who killed Joffrey. I think it's obvious Dontos at least knew it was happening, my bet's on Olenna orchestrating the whole thing and having Dontos get Sansa out during it. The fact that Sansa's well being was even considered during Joffrey's death is proof enough that Olenna was behind it IMO. Can't think of anyone else who would have cared enough about Sansa to have her rescued.

Everyone (including myself) rightfully hates Joffrey, and I didn't feel sympathy for him as he died, but his death was very disturbing. Seeing the reactions from Cersei and Jaime, and seeing how Joffrey's face turned purple and his eyes red as they bled, very distressing.

Not sure why anyone would care that Tommen was recast. I didn't even know his name until this season, and he's only been featured in a few short scenes throughout the entire series as far as I can remember, most of which he didn't even speak in.

From what he's said, he doesn't seem to interested in continuing on as an actor. The kid seems to have a very good head on his shoulders, which is nice to see.

I'm let down tonight, because I loved Joffrey. Not that he was a good person, obviously, he just made for very, very entertaining TV. While so many characters on this show are great to watch, for me Joffrey and Tyrion are the two "can't miss" characters. And while Tyrion gets the best line on the show, the fact that Joffrey could produce visceral reactions from the audience really says something.

Sounds like Joffrey singing in the closing credits. That he can be so hated by everyone shows how great the acting is. He will be missed.

Some random thoughts...

- Joffery scene was well done. In the book Tyrion was way more drunk. I knew exactly what was going to happen and it was still a tense scene!!
- Rickon got some speaking lines tonight!! Woo Hoo!
- New actor for Tomen... did we also get a new actress for Stannis' wife? She seemed different to me.
- Bran's scene with the tree was AWESOME!! I loved seeing Ned for the briefest of seconds.
- Cersie is the biggest B in every way. I did not feel sorry for her as she watched Joffery die. Jamie only seemed upset because it was his duty to keep the kid safe. Tywin didn't seem too concerned.
- The actor that played Joffery did a superb job. I know everyone will think of him with hatred from now on. I hope he can bounce back with a likable role.

I agree with all accounts to the actor that played Joffrey...when some one is so loved to hate....he is truly playing the hell out of their part...I will miss his contributions and I agree this was not as satisfying a kill but very very tense to watch!

Just rewatched the episode and noticed a few small hints that Olenna was behind Joffrey's death. I definitely think she did it.

For example when Joffrey and Margery are at the altar listening to the Minister, he says "Cursed be he who would seek to tear them asunder" as the camera pans and focuses in on Olenna.

Olenna walks up to Sansa and after giving her condolences on Robb's death, she suggests that Sansa visit Highgarden someday.

Loved the comment Loras made to Jaime about how he would never marry Cersei either. :lol

- Rickon got some speaking lines tonight!! Woo Hoo! did we also get a new actress for Stannis' wife? She seemed different to me.
Rickon wasn't in this episode...I assume you're referring to Jojen Reed, who was introduced with his sister last season. Rickon and Osha left Bran last season.

Regarding Stannis' wife, they showed her scene from last season at the beginning of this episode, looks like the same person to me.

That entire episode wound me up to no ****ing end. Hail to the King? No. **** the king!!! Indeed. Chilling to the bone. Speechless here. Just like last year's Red Wedding. And I knew that was coming.

Jack Gleeson deserves an Emmy for this episode. There has never been evil emoted like that on television that I can even think back to. The hatred that you feel when he's berating Tyrion, well its like your in Tyrion's shoes and you've got no way out and you just have to take it. The last few minutes of Gleeson's performance there is solidly horrific and you want this monster to die as he gets what he deserves. Yet, its so gut wrenching and disturbing. DAMN!!! Agreed--best single character death on tv ever.

While I found Joffrey's death immensely satisfying and did NOT think this was coming any time soon, I felt like he was such a pr*ck that he deserved a much more drawn out and painful death than the one he received. He deserved a little torture (ala Theon Greyjoy type) before meeting his maker.

And yes, after initial deductions and speculations as to who may have done it, my money is firmly on Olenna too!

Joffreys death actually exceeded my expectations as far as the adaption from the book goes. The make up was phenomenal, and of course the Gleeson kid brought it in spades. It was disturbing I'm surprise they killed him off so soon, I was figuring mid season. Lot of great scenes and dialogue. I love the little scene between Olenna and Tywin with the mentioning of the Iron Bank etc. Those two are fantastic together on screen. That tense scene with Oberyn, Twin and Cercei and the one with Shae and Tyrion, the whole wedding sequence. Fantastic episode.
