Re: Jean Grey - Jim Lee Era

Why is it so difficult to make an attractive female portrait for the Marvel Series?

I mean, did Marvel REALLY approve this Jean Portrait? I find that hard to believe that they would allow Jean to look like a dude with a mullet ...

When has she ever looked like a dude with a mullet in comics?

It's such an odd choice for a portrait head especially if that remains the REGULAR EDITION. The EX I can imagine has pupils and irisis'

4 year long wait for this?

REALLY?

I think they have their art direction confused. The Red Sonja PF Portrait looks more like Jean...

Of course it doesn't make one bit of difference when the production pieces look nothing like what was originally advertised so maybe it won't look so fugly in person.

you know what it is? they don't want to Offend the Ugly People, I know I am Going to Hell for that comment :lol:lol:lol:lol

P.S. Great Pic's

Why won't SSC give the customers what they want? Read through this thread... and make Phoenix, not some Bishojou knock-off! :impatient:

Hey I like bishoujo statues. They should do some 1/4 scale bishoujos. That would be sweet! But I must agree this one depending on the other head, will determine how well this will be received by the fans. The great news is I get to save 440.00 to 570.00 on it which includes shipping.

Make something for Xavier too. I know he doesn't offer many ideas for unique pose possibilities but needs at least some representation after all these years of Sideshow. . . There's just nothin

Yeah I see where you are coming from he would make a Great PF either using the Classic Wheelchair with an optional light up Cerbro Helmet or the Modern Hovering Version which has more possibilities for light up features and Charles in his classic 3 piece.

The only fear I see Marvel/SSC having is they are scared of offending someone in a wheelchair and getting sued, Please, I know a couple people in chairs and that is the last thing they want is to be treated different, it's always the busybodies that have some void in there life to fill at the expense of others

Make a Charles Xavier PF SCC

You're right...that Red Sonia looks more how I imagine Jean to look and way more in line with the comics. :(

Did it really take 4 years to get this out?

Re: Jean Grey - Jim Lee Era

LOL. The last few pages of this thread have summarised why I probably won't get this....If your going to do Jean Grey...START with Phoenix! Preferably based on the Brooks art with a light up Phoenix base.

Being cynical SS are probably hoping Jean Grey fans like me will buy this AND a phoenix...Sales may not have been so good the other way round ;). However the obvious join on the light up head and the fugly sculpt remind me of cyclops ...and that was not a great piece for me personally (and I know I am basing this on nothing but a few pics and will wait for the full reveal with bated breath hoping, against hope, for something surprising).

I am with you on every aspect of your commentary my Friend, except that I am hoping that if there is a COH it is the long haired version  but if it is something else, it better Blow me away, or I might have a hard time justifying getting her and remember as to date this is pure conjecture based on two pic's and rumor before the full revel, so come on preview

Couldn't have said it better myself...until the full reveal there's no need to get all worked.

Currently I remain optimistic that the full reveal will make this a must have for Marvel fans like myself.

I'm all in for Xavier. He's in my top 5 X-Men.

With these prices steadily going up it'd be nice if SS has him in the works already.

SS knows real Jean Grey fans will buy this and a Phoenix! :wink1:

No love for Cyclops? I like the Cyclops PF. It came out before I started collecting and I know there was much over the EX head, although being ugly didn't stop it from selling out just because it's the EX. But I have a regular and it looks like what 90s Cyclops should look like to me. Once in hand I liked it more. Pointless debate and flogged to death at this point but I still wish Jean's base matched his, it was a no brainer, but ah well.

From the concept art shown where she's always at an angle I thought Jean would be on a Cyc-matching rock with the possibility of a pose that simulated her "flight", similar to how the Reeve Superman is flying. Since it was stated so often this piece had difficulties I guess it was me trying to figure what the logical difficulty was... if she's just standing on an X while Red Sonja has her face I'm curious about what the difficulty all this time was.

Re: Jean Grey - Jim Lee Era

In person the Cyclops EX head is not bad at all.

Vision's EX head was horrible it tops Rogue's EX and I am guessing soon to be Jean's

I think Jean Grey fans just want a GOOD representation of the character pre Phoenix. Although the reveal has NOT happened these photos are undoubtedly worrying to many.

Best wishes and quite happy to wait for this to PREVIEW and hoping for a lovely COH. Being honest if its only the portrait that is the issue I will get her as SS do change them and Storm also has grown on me in hand. LOL I am not really that annoyed..its just a statue at the end of the day and people tastes are different thankfully.

I suppose that relates to Cyclops.

It depends how you collect. I am definitely not a completist guy needing every item in a line. I have instead picked up most characters I want and if I enjoy having them in my collection because the QUALITY is there in my opinion, I will keep them. If they don't have it, I either get rid of them or correct the problem if I really want the character (resculpt and repaint of my rogue pf ex happening now for example). With Cyclops, he's NOT awful and very good value in the secondary market (esp the reg). I just did not like the finish and it has some oddities in the sculpt in hand. BUT a repaint would be something I would consider if I had access to a damaged one or even a cheap reg.

This route of resculpt and repaint may eventually apply to this PF, as it is Jean after all. And on that note...PREVIEW, PREVIEW, PREVIEW please SS.
