Honestly, I'm surprised Sideshow stuck with the license as long as they have, considering every other company dropped the Indy license like a hot potato years ago. And I'm really grateful that they stuck with it. It's clear Indy collectors are few compared to the popularity of their other licenses, but we've gotten some great pieces from them. I never thought I'd have a Fertility Idol, Ark or Indy statues in my collection. Personally, I'm not complaining.

Well on this one, particularly if it is 1/5 scale, SSC outpriced themselves. But like the Disney license, this license was really underused. If these things are selling out I'd say there is a large propularity, particularly for Grove's work. However, I agree, that Marvel and DC are the two licenses getting all the fanboy love on here.

WOW!!! Is the MKVII bag REALLY on the wrong side of his body? And again with the snaps on the storm flap! Lucusfilm must have a mandatory "snaps on every version of Indy's jacket proviso" written into their licensing contract. Not to mention his jacket's supposed to be zipped up. Other than that it looks like it could be a winner. ;)

That part really bothers me too. Idk how they could mess that up.

the distortion is LESSENED by zoom... he's holding the camera too close, and picking up distortion because of that. more light, move WAY back, and zoom in... no distortion.

but the BAG?!?!? onmygod....

I do agree with you that I think this is overpriced. Keeping in the $400 range would have been more reasonable. So many possibilities for pieces that will never get made, but Sideshow can never seem to stay committed to a license long enough to offer a well-rounded collection. So that aspect really doesn't bother me.

More pics surfaced on Statue Forum. Overall I like it.

From Statue Forum.. Better pics but something is off IMO.. The Likness is OK. I don't agree with the OP about HT version being a better likness but I think that all three PFs are better..

From straight on, I think it looks just like Harrison Ford, side profile is probably his weakest likeness angle but it's still not bad... To the HT fans, yes it's not as good as the Hot Toys likeness but then again it doesn't have joints all over the place either and this one has a horse :p

I know they are not the best pics but I think the Horse looks too small in all the pics...

Overall not a bad piece but I am am not feeling bad that I did not order it... Hope those who did love it though!!

I read on the other site that the Horse Indy rides is a smaller breed so perhaps the size is right.... I think the artist should have taken some artistic licence and made the horse bigger to give the piece a more heroic feel.

But it does seem the horse looks a little smaller in this shot.

These pics are all zoomed as well. Is it the same guy again? To be honest, I'd return it if it looked like any of these pics in person, which it won't. But didn't Trevor sculpt this? I thought I saw his name on it. So I am not sure why the face isn't better. I'm sure as heck not going to keep it if it looks off when it is so expensive and I have 2 other Indy's that look awesome.

It's not the sculpt. Likeness is there. It's the paint. Better in the new photos, but those are still camera phone pics. Can't wait for someone to get some better snaps. I am no longer so worried, now I just think it's overpriced. The first guy to post did say he couldn't really recommend it to other collectors, but that he wouldn't recommend Batman either. So if your impressed with Bats, this should be ok.

The shot from the side looks great to me. The others look a bit weird but they're phone pics and taken from weird angles.. As for the horse, it could've been bigger but it is correct that it's an Arabian which are smaller, and when it was announced it was compared to screencaps showing it wasn't much off, if anything. But some might feel the horse should've been bigger in a statue. I think it will look pretty good in hand but probably not 100% perfect. For me I hope and think it will be great as it'll be my only Indy and I really like the idea of Indy on his horse chasing the Ark. :)

With regard to the bag strap. Technically Sideshow got the placement right because the shot in the film that this is based on was flipped so the strap was seen to be over that shoulder.

Actually looking at the pic above, it seems Ford simply wore the strap on the other way round.

ok. so if they were going for THAT scene specific, why isn't the damned jacket closed?!?!? why is there a storm flap snap?!?

Another Indy miss. Pics on Sideshow's site didn't look that great and nor do the release ones. Just doesn't look like Indy to me.

This is really disappointing given the delays and the price we would expect more. The worst part is that i sold my Temple of Doom pieces to make some room for this piece. Sideshow statues are really loosing their likeness, in fact the last pieces I picked up was Jack Sparrow and Jessica Rabbit. If the statues continue getting delayed, getting more costly and are of bad sculpt count me out. I am happy I kept all Disney pieces, as they were the best, but I am still disappointed how they discontinued them for shame!.

I frame by framed the whole of the scene last night, and while there are two shots, when he first left the tent on the horse, and that one close up on top of the hill, where the strap was flipped, the whole rest of the scene it was on the correct side. still doesn't explain the open jacket and the storm flap snap. sloppy. what a shame.

Wow, you guys REALLY are picky. :D don't think SS will ever get that amount of details accurate enough, plus there's always artistic freedom to some point. Like the jacket, that can't be anything else than a choice the artist made for the statue.
