Finally, after a couple of years of trying to find them at a good price, I managed to get my Hot Toys General Ursus and the Gorilla Captain. Now my Gorilla Soldier won't be so lonely in the Detolf :)

ApeManRyan, I can't wait to see what you come up with. It is great to have all this energy back in the POTA line! Please continue to post your progress, it's an exciting time for us fans.

Knightstalker, Congratulations on getting your gorilla some superior officers. I hope your gorillas serve their general well.

Stickman you are an inspiration and can't thank you enough for it. I'm truly excited this project is happening and that finally I'll be having an Ultimate Ape display for Apes to come soon. So excited. Will be posting progresses daily. Alright after an hour or so time to call it for the day but will continue in the morning. The Support for the city has doubled in size. It's HUGE. Still early progress but you can tell it's going to be big with add ons. Stay tune for more updates!

Thanks Stick. Missed out on getting these guys from a store when they first came out. Had them in my hand, but passed on them. Always kicked myself for letting them go, as the prices on Ebay have gotten obscene.
Just thrilled I could complete the set, as they're now 3 of my favourite figures.

Alright so I woke up and sketched out how I want to build the City itself. I decided to make it one big diorama that when you turn it to different angles it's a scene that captures a moment from the first and second film. I think this will be the best way to build it and will look awesome in the end when done. Here's a picture of what it may look like. Excuse my poor handwriting btw. :lol

ApeManRyan, can't wait to see more. Looks very interesting! How will you access the rooms in the center, or middle? Will they have all four walls? Will your diorama be viewed from birds eye POV? Keep going!!!

The Rooms will have doors going both ways. Still working on how it's going to look but I'm excited to toy around with this project. As for viewing each part of the Diorama it will be on a turn table or Electric mechanism to spin and see each part. Should be cool!

Alright so now the next step is to build a wooden support under the cardboard to make it even more sturdy. After that I start to either add more length or start building the buildings! More updates to come.

Well I've been messing around with the Wooden Support. I decided to get small planks and put 9 underneath the cardboard. I had to dremel and chip them to sit up better. I'm done for today. I also want to add once I get the support done and work on some of the buildings I will take a short break from working on it until I get some Ape figures in. I will work on a miniature Ape City version for the Neca releases so which ever way it will go it will be awesome.

Alright small update. The wooden supports will be finished this weekend. I decided to start building the cardboard building supports! I couldn't decide where to start so after cutting and thinking I came to a idea. I'm starting at the front for the entrance into Ape City. A HUGE Archway. It's a idea I came up with to lead into the city itself! You can see a picture below. The pieces itself don't need to be perfect just need to help support the shape. Once the floured newspaper goes on it'll look much better and be awesome. Getting pretty anxious to keep on going. I'm going to be on a role so you should start to see some major progress soon. Should have the Archway done by tomorrow and from there continue building. More updates to come soon!

You may have considered this already. You might want to make your diorama modular.

A while back I built a diorama about five feet tall by about four feet deep and barely able to roll through an open door. It had hidden wing nuts so I could disassemble the major parts.

One of these years, I want to build a partial 1/6 ape city diorama also, but I have to wait until I have a different house.

Good luck. Your project sounds awesome.

I don't think I'll ever get to do my complete dream diorama. I have to many interests.

It would be ape city, complete with amphitheater, extending out to a section of the Forbidden Zone, the hills beyond with scarecrows atop. Past the hills would be a level area of desert where the Jupiter II crashed. There would be seven graves and a rusted robot. Another set of hills and past those is an USS Enterprise landing crew. On the other side of Ape City, through a wooded area and then a flatland, is another crashed ship, 2 Colonial Vipers, their pilots approaching the crash and Count Iblis warning them off. All in 1:6 of course.

This is just my rough draft. There are additions and such from other venues, but these were my main ideas that stay fairly well constant over the years.

Maybe someday........

Thanks for the advice! Was thinking of doing it that way. The front archway is pretty big but may have to go back and take a look again.

Hey man you should build one. It's fun! Build a smaller scale one for the Neca figures. it'll be great in the end trust me. 1/6 scale I was going to build the city for but decided to go smaller for right now. Still will be awesome.

That *would* be epic.

I imagine the occasional "guest stars" in my dioramas from the multiverse.... Zira and Cornelius are having a drink in my Star Wars cantina, R2-D2, C-3PO, Johnny Five, Robby, Atlas, P-Body, a T-800, and others are all standing outside.

Oh hell yes man! Would be epic indeed.

My computer crashed, I guess the video card on it finally went, glad it is still under warranty. Looking forward to seeing my progress on your city ApeManRyan.

Thanks man! More to come soon just been very busy lately. Should see more progress very soon.

Apey Valentine's Day you Ape FREAKS!!

Really busy with a deadline to do a Cornelius wig for an upcoming convention for someone in Florida...Lots of stuff to do on my ape list, but I have to really finish this weekend...and do a wig for Zira for the same convention. UGH. Wish me luck. It's not looking good and I may have to purchase a wig block to make it easier for me. Really didn't want to do that...

Welcome Ryan!! Your Ape City will look really fabulous.

Can't wait to get my hands on the NECA apes. Small, but whatever. As long as they look accurate and I can pose them. No kinky poses unfortunately, because their clothing can't be torn off. Sad face.

I have been having a heck of a time getting back into Central City. Most of the time it doesn't work on my cellphone, and that's where I get my internet access lately most of the day. Things look different. I HATE CHANGE!! UGH!!

But...long live this never ending thread.
