I think that might be the case. To me a movie-inaccurate-but-preferred-by-many-fans (and also associated w/Hasbro, like Hammerhead's staff, IG-88's vibro-ax, Snowtrooper rifle, etc.) blue jacket is the perfect exclusive (and a HUGE reason to order direct from Sideshow, for a lot of collectors). I think many would be annoyed if the exclusive is an essential bit of Han's kit, like say the transponder. I'll be ordering direct, in either scenario, though, so I'm not bothered.

The important things is that someone is wrong. :lecture

This will be a tough business decision for the exclusive. I bet it is something random like Luke's lightsabre because the blue jacket is extremely popular (possibly more so than brown). It would alienate fans on either side to not universally offer both. The transponder seems too prominent to not include with him universally as well.

That's a very simplistic breakdown that a child would formulate. Where's the "blue" in Han's outfit for ROTJ; the black vest, light brown shirt and brown pants.

Looks more like Han goes from 'blue' to 'brown' over the course of the trilogy, with ESB being that midpoint where the colors switch. Not sure why; maybe has to do with his change from "cool selfish" (blue) to a warmer, kinder" (brown) captain.

You can't just take the "outer item worn over torso" and formulate your opinion of the color scheme without considering all his colors worn. If you did that, you would have to count Hoth's brown coat. :D

Kept it simple as not to confuse people, and i WAS only referring to his outerwear. if you'd like, I CAN give you a much more detailed analysis of his character design, and what it's intended to tell us about him.

And I DO agree with your simple breakdown of the why's there, it DOES make sense. you'll also notice we saw han use blasters less and less across the trilogy

To reiterate, I prefer the brown coat for hoth.

While I think the blue jacket makes for a perfect exclusive, I can't really argue with that line of thinking, either. Their comment about choosing between brown or blue would seem to indicate that both are included w/every set, possibly.

I thought about the lightsabre as an exclusive, as well, but unless they did something neat with it, like make it cold cathode (which obviously would never happen), it will seem like a very cheap add-on. Really hope they don't go with that, as Han wielding it only makes sense in a very specific context and we're getting one already w/Luke.

Thanks for this, it solves everything, wish you'd posted sooner.

:lol At this point it almost merits:

Ahh ok so it's all speculation he comes with both jackets based on their newsletter comment.

Here's the thing, sometimes on a film set we will spritz an actor's costume or props (costumes, for what it is worth, haven't been props for about sixty or seventy years) if there is an issue with it getting wet. Assuming we were shooting an actor in a snow scene and it was obvious the costume or prop was getting wet and showing a darker colour we would spray the entire thing before we shoot to cover up any inconsistencies...

Assuming further that the exterior stuff in Norway was shot before the studio work in England, the practice of spritzing the coat would have maintained throughout principal photography.

Noooo, they announced at SDCC (first in a Q&A panel and then at the booth), that he would come with both coats - it's where they also announced both Luke & Han would also come with two heads each.

Ooooh Ok thanks for explaining :)

The sculpt looks pretty awesome in the teaser photo... can't wait to see the full reveal. Looks like it could be the best 1/6 Harrison Ford to come out so far.

Blue or brown (I would prefer blue) this will be mine.

I just pray he doesn't have a bad hair day on the second sculpt.

So ill just say again, if they are giving us both a Brown & Blue jacket, then there is really no need to debate or discuss. Just comes down to whatever you prefer. Display by what the prop looks like, or display what it looks like on film. And you can switch it out if you like too anytime you want.

All this back n forth, I just don't see what the big deal is, everyone wins, right? :)

You can only really "win" if someone else loses. :wink1:

Edit: Also, how else would those who trust in the righteous goodness of Kenner demonstrate our innate superiority relative to other Star Wars fans?
