Yes she was really expensive, but again a pro artist cost 500-700$ for 1/4 paint, how can ss do a statue and paint for 350$ but again they make Kat Sapene paint ivy/queen to look stunning and then offcause they can't handle it :-(

But again she will be mine :)

I may be mistaken, but didn't all The Dead statues in that line come out looking fine, if not great? I don't recall ever reading about that line being plagued with bad paint, etc.

That being said. I have faith in this line. I don't think SS will mess this up. Well I hope not anyways.

Ivy was really bad painted

An ss original.
Can't wait to preorder Queen looks stunning.

Are you new to statues? I have pretty high standard when it comes to paint apps, but on WHAT planet is the above photo considered "really bad painted"? It looks excellent. If you think the poison ivy you posted looks bad, you should just stop buying sideshow statues.... :slap

This is what bad paint looks like:

Man. Relativism. The fact that Ivy isn't AS BAD as the one you posted (which are simply crap) doesn't meen she's good or that one should accept that kind of quality.

First of all forgive my english, my vocabulary is quite limited for technical terms, but: in the pic of Ivy posted above, the eyes don't seem quite right (not as wrong as the ones you posted, but they're still not right, too far from the center), paint on her skin is flat and monochromatic, thus her face is almost lifeless (she should be charming), also, the line of the hairs on her shoulders is strange on how the skin ends and the hair begins. At last, paint on her bra and gloves is mediocre too, still flat, no shades, all dark green.
Overall I'd say is an average/mediocre work.

Yes, thank you for pointing that out. Ivy's paint quality in general is sub-par. Congrats to people who got better ones and if people are happy with theirs kudos. To me it is a bad sign I am happy Batman will have cloth (and I normally prefer 100% poly), cause I could not stand him with Ivy's paint app.

All that, and I'd say that so far from her eyes being "not quite right," she's actually looking in two different directions.

That is not the worst ivy I've seen, but its far from what a $350+ statue should be.

this is the crux of my argument: if they are going to charge us $100-150ish for paint aps, they need to be done right. Lining up the paint-masks correctly is just the first step. Ivy's hairline and every place the hair meets skin is just bad.

"lookit these, these are even worse" is not an excuse in my book.

I agree, not worthy of $400 price tag. That's why my collection is all monsters and robots basically. I would love to order Red Sonja, but have no faith in human paint apps from SS. I guess this could end up looking better cause the Queen doesn't have living skin tone, so might not be too bad on this.

You can't say generally because you only know about what you yourself have seen either with yours or what others have posted. There's 4000 Ivy's made, we have no idea how many came out great or bad.

I agree, the paint on that one was terrible and for the people who gt bad ones yes it's not what you want for your money. I will say this though, I don't expect the quality of a $500-$700 paint job like the one Johnny got repainted for my $350. I don't think we're going to get the color gradients that you'd see in something that painted by hand professionally. However, hell yes, I do expect the paint lines to be clean and even.

I don't think anyone is expecting a thousand-dollar paint job from the factory. That's just unrealistic.

I do expect the maps to be lined up right though, and the eyes to both be looking in the same direction.
