Prices wouldn't be so high if morons pre-ordered stuff and didn't waaaaay over pay on retail months after it ships. Sideshow knows what their stuff is selling for, and are taking the margin of what their stuff sells for later for themselves. They will get burned when they release duds, but the rest is gravy.

I really don't get why you have to declare all these individuals "morons". There are many reasons why you'd choose to order via retailer. This is not moronic in any way. So please give some thought to your choice of words in the future.

Actually, they are represented on these boards. From time to time they do answer some of the questions posted in the section: 'Ask Sideshow Collectibles'.

Do keep in mind that they do not do customer support here.

Also, I wouldn't get my hopes up too high for a response from them concerning the things you mention.

Price increase is simple, though. Workers in China are being paid more and more and that leads to price increase. Obviously, there are also other parties involved later in the production and distribution process that require larger payments. That's the situation right now.

Quality control is a difficult topic for a company to address. Doing so could be interpreted as an admission and that would probably hurt their image even more than what the occasional QC case can.

Sideshow's reps do post here from time to time but unfortunately due to lack of respect and entitlement issues by some members here that representation has diminished greatly.

They need to start some sort of rewards program for the spouses if they expect this to continue.

Sideshow can do it's part to slow down the divorce rate in this hobby!

Ordered!! The price increase does not bother me quite yet as long as the quality increases as well. And based on Shaak Ti and Malgus the quality is
definitely increasing with the PF line.

I don't understand the big deal about a price increase. SS definitely is producing better pieces every year, so like everything else in the world prices will rise. The bottom line is if you like it, buy it. Later on folks think SS prices are astronomical, wait til they sell out and then you want it, nowhere else except Ebay, and their prices kick your wallets asses.

I think the price is fine for those who are into trooper statues, it's the biggest and best Cody statue out there, and quite frankly the best clone/storm trooper PF of the lot, and it comes with both buckets. I can see how to a casual fan it's too much, but in the niche market that it caters to it's fine and I'm just glad such a product even exists because otherwise we'd be making do with smaller Attakus or Koto versions.

See, that makes sense and is quite simple. It's the same thought process I go through everytime they release something. Do I like it enough to pay that much?

Also, on the topic of pre-ordering versus waiting, I almost always pre-order stuff that I really want but completely understand the other view point. In-hand pics, financial constraints, etc. are all great reasons to roll the dice and pick it up at retail (or below) later. I did that with the Dewback because it wasn't a must-have for me. Eventually, I found one for 20% off retail which dropped it down enough to meet my want versus cost criteria.

That mentality is flawed. There is always something new and new lines created by Sideshow. There is never a shortage of something else that's new and fresh that demands your money in this hobby.

I just keep moving forward instead of wishing upon an ebay page for the "grails".

well seems like ss helped make my decision a tad easier on this piece. i'll be passing. if the price was a tad lower I might have jumped on this. but seeing I already have a great 1/6 version I don't feel it necessary to buy this in 1/4 and especially at that price.

Completely happy with the Cody from Kotobukiya. Really wish they would have continued making more clones in that scale.

I am asking this as I live in Indonesia, and to order the Ex, its gonna cost me like $200 more than to order the normal one, as the normal version will go on pre-order here at $370 delivered and the Ex I gotta order from SS which will be + shipping and customs for about $200 more...

most probably gonna display him next to rex...

@ The Stig - I agree the Koto version is amazing.. I got him as well.. Koto should make more of this scale...

I prefer the phase 2 helmet. That's why I'm going to buy this PF at a local retailer and save some money.
But ultimately it depends on how you want to display him. For me the phase 1 helmet woudln't be worth an extra 200$.

If your not passionate about the ex save the $200. It would only help with resell but then that means Cody would have to go up in value quite a bit to make it worth it and most star wars PF's don't go up that much, especially the males.

Yeah I've got almost all the Koto clones and they really are great in terms of detail, but I held off on Cody since I knew the PF was coming, I think Cody will be my centrepiece, but the Koto's are awesome bang for your buck value.

being that Cody is $380, I have to say that pretty cheap compared to some of those other statues SS produces in the 2k-6k market. I bought the T-800, T-X, and Alien cinemaquettes when they were released for $1-2k a piece and now they are far more than the price i paid. exceptionally beautiful pieces and very rare to find one for cheap in mint condition. unless your working at McDs, the $380 is pretty cheap
