Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

Not for the EX, but you may find a deal on the regular one depending how many they end up making.

Yes, the regular version is what I'm after. Not interested in the EX & not disputing that it may "retain" its' retail price.

Lurtz & Berserker were limited to 750 each and were the only versions made, correct? There was no regular version, right? So are you guys gonna tell me that for the Dark Rider, Sideshow will make a number LESS than the EX version (@500)? I don't think so.

So let us say that there will hypothetically be at least another 500-750 more Dark Riders regular versions out there someday. But SS will NEVER sell that many pieces at $800-retail plus $40-shipping. And you don't think that price will eventually drop??! Star Wars Emperor PF, anyone? Please pass me what you're smoking, dude...

And for the record, a few months ago there was an auction on ebay where a best-offer was accepted for a final price somewhere below $675 for a NEW one & it was the EX version. Give or take a few years, this version will be had for less--even gently softly, and up to medium dusty used (you forum smart-asses...lol).

Mark my words, doubters, when the day comes & I've acquired one for $650, I'll be calling you out by name...lmao. :wave

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

If you manage to get one for $650 good for you. That will be a fantastic price but nobody here I'd imagine will feel bad about paying retail. I know I sure wont.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

It's possible that you might pick up a deal but really I only buy stuff that I want.

If I'm thinking to myself " I might get that down the road if it gets a little cheaper" then that's a fairly good indication that I don't actually want it that badly at all.

I've kind of made that rule with most things I buy now. If I look at it and think "Whooooaaa , so cool" It's in. If I look at it and I'm like " I can't justify that price or not sure about the pose" I'm out.

Each to their own but I'd never take the risk on something that I love.

$840 is high retail(and that comes with $40 in rewards). You can get them at comic shop or other places online cheaper right now for $750-800 OTD. Only reason to get from SS is flex or use their rewards and of course replacement if there is a problem. This is a centerpiece for most and as the years go on I don't think it will be topped(look at the crazy weta price for this guy). When it does sell out the regular I would bet they begin to climb. Both Lurtz and Berserker had EXs and regulars, so there are as many or more of those floating around.

I think your talking out the wrong end of your body

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

This ain't gonna be another Balrog or Cave Troll. Those days are long over, friend. So when I eventually do sometime down the road find this piece for $150-less than most of you guys paid for it, there's no doubt I'll be posting here to brag about it. :nana:

And we will have had the joy of having this guy in our collection for several years while you have spend time hunting. That's what we brag about.

Wrong - both had a reg and a ex version. And as for Berserker the ex was a must.

For me Lurtz EX is the way to go with the bow, regular Berserker looks just as cool as the head to me with the broken arrows in his hand looking up in defiance to the archers.

:exactly: :lecture

That was my point...there were as many of those made (in fact,I think more).

BOTH the Berserker EX and Lurtz EX had an edition size above 500,and that's before taking into account all the regular ed's ASWELL!! ..and I've never seen EITHER edition of The Berserker go for less than $800 - $1000...which even at $800 I believe is more than double the retail price.

AND,neither Lurtz nor the Berserker are as iconic to LOTR as the DROM,the image of which has adorned countless t-shirts,mugs,magazines,posters,book covers etc etc ...the DROM is synonymous with LOTR and the PF is a massive and stunning centerpiece for a collector....

In other words,good luck :cuckoo:

Lurtz ex is also great but - imo - not as big a must-have ex as Berserker. I got both ex's so I'm happy :)

You are so,soooooooooo lucky!! *pretends not to be jealous* :pfft:

:wink1:

I arrived a bit too late to this game,so picking up these at a semi-sane price is somewhat a pipe-dream for moi :(....but I'm comforted by the fact that I arrived in time to pick up the DROM ex and Sauron PF's :yess:

Think these will be my favourite all-time pieces :lecture

I paid $600 shipped for my regular from a retailer at release. :yess: :rock

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

I think the best bet for picking up a Regular for cheaper would be right now before it sells out at SS. Sure, there's always a chance you might get in on an auction at just the right moment in the future, but that situation applies to anything. I don't see the DROM increasing in value to the extreme of Lurtz, Berserker, or Morgul Lord, due to the already high retail price, but I also don't see it selling below retail very often in the future.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

The original Ringwraith on Steed had an edition size of 5000 and was doing so well that it was recast. I think the Dark Rider will probably hold it's value for a while. But in time when Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit movies are out of peoples minds, there may be deals to be had.

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about. Nice score, Fritz! More PROOF that it IS possible.

Can you hook a brotha up? :peace

Final statement;

In closing, all I originally stated was that I simply would be waiting to get one of these pieces for under $650 someday to save some $$$.

My initial statement wasn't doggin' those that already bought the statue for retail. I'm a fan of the piece. I'm a Ringwraith collector and have an entire LOTR-themed room dedicated to these collectibles and want this piece too. I'm just not gonna pay top dollar for it. And yes, if you did get this piece upon initial release and paid retail---don't feel bad about it if it comes down in price. You'll have had a couple extra years to enjoy it & early adopters always pay more. That's just how it is. So congrats and bully for you, chaps.
