Re: Man of Steel 2 (Superman/Batman--Official title to be confirmed)

Bomer is Cavill's doppleganger. I think they may look TOO much alike for Bomer to be Bats.

They HAVE to look alike or else things like this aren't possible:

One thing you have to keep in mind, though, is without Krypton, the world in Man of Steel is just serious and realistic as the one in the Dark Knight trilogy. Which leads me to believe that Superman's origin will in turn bring about the origin of many other JL members - or - we will need a bit of a shift in tone in the sequel.

I'm both kidding and serious.

I actually like Batman a lot. But what I feared has already come to pass: MoS2 is now going to be all about Batman. Just look at the talk in this ostensibly MoS2 thread!! Which, as hardly needs saying, cheats Superman and the world he lives in badly.

Batman has had several film series devoted exclusively to him already, and he's about to get another series of films as he gets rebooted YET AGAIN. [yay, fiftieth retelling of origin story!] It just does not seem very fair to Superman. We just now get a successful reboot of Superman and now we're going to throw that or most of that, out the window to accommodate Batman.

If this stuff were to be done to Batman, his fans would go Section Eight over such injustice. But this is Superman, so its ok.....?

Re: Man of Steel 2 (Superman/Batman--Official title to be confirmed)

I don't think Hoechlin has the same acting chops as Cavill and I think if they really end up with Mark Strong with Lex he'd be definitely overshadowed in any scene all three were together in.

Can't have Batman being overshadowed. He needs to eat scenery. Cumberbatch FTW. :lecture

Idk that Batman would steal the show necessarily...this is a great opportunity to give us another Kirk/Spock style bromance, but better. This Superman has a bit more of an edge that could lend itself well to some entertaining oneupmanship, once they decide (begrudgingly or otherwise) to work together.

:goodpost::exactly:

Yes, but hopefully it will not be like that.

If done right, this movie will be equally about Batman and Superman, maybe even focusing a little more on Superman.

Although, really, at this point, it's not about any individual hero. This is about DC achieving a cinematic universe on par with Marvel's. Everything else comes second to that. They can always spin off more solo flicks later.

*Insert obligatory "He's the hero that we need right now" joke here*

Jon Hamm is Batman, forget Cumberbatch.:lecture

I want to agree with you about the "if done right" part.

But, if this is a MoS sequel, even though there are still doubts about this being a sequel, but if it is, it should be focused very much in Supes imo.

Re: Man of Steel 2 (Superman/Batman--Official title to be confirmed)

If it were possible to do in two years what it took Marvel ten years to do, don't you think Marvel would have done it in two themselves?

WB will figure this out, but by then it will be far too late.

Semantics. Why can't this be both a MOS sequel and equally focus on Batman? What's the big deal about whether or not we get another solo Superman film anytime soon? Why can't people just be excited that DC is finally getting off of its *** and giving us an actual cinematic universe?

The thing is, now that the idea of a shared superhero cinematic universe has been introduced (very successfully, I might add) into the popular consciousness, DC can exercise some liberties in getting it together. People have seen Avengers, loved it, and are now salivating for a Justice League movie. Everyone knows that this is a necessary step to get there, and these two characters need no introduction.

It took four years to get from Iron Man to Avengers. Man of Steel: 2013. Justice League is now projected for 2017 at the earliest. That's four years. Batman/Superman is just a step along the way.

This, Cumberbatch is so wrong for Bats.

If this is not Batman, I don't want to live on this planet anymore, because people have clearly lost sight of what Batman is and has been in the comics for the past 74 years:

You mean the world's greatest detective, and a cold, calculating psychopath? Sounds like someone I know. :yess:

If it is a MoS it should be about Superman, I don't how clearer I can make this, MoS was set up in a way it left the perfect grounding for a Supes solo sequel, Supes needs to grown based on what happened in MoS and I don't see how they will manage to do that if they equally focus on Bats, it's borderline disrespectful to Supes after all the focus Bats has received, if Batman has to appear as a desperate way to compete with Marvel (which it sure as hell looks like that), it needs to leave the spotlight to Supes anyway.

I am excited, I just hope they do it right and just use Batman as a supporting character.

That's the problem. People need to stop looking at this as a solo Superman film. It is a Batman/Superman film. Period. And how is Superman getting shafted here? As of right now, in the new DC film universe, we have 1.5 Superman movies, and 0.5 Batman movies.

Re: Man of Steel 2 (Superman/Batman--Official title to be confirmed)

So Superman now needs a "crutch" after just one film?

Maybe I should have gone to see it.

Re: Man of Steel 2 (Superman/Batman--Official title to be confirmed)

A psycho? Batman is a psycho?

Who says that's a bad thing?

I was referring to the Hamm, not the lizard.

Show me a movie in which Jon Hamm singlehandedly hands 20+ Klingons their asses back to them and I might agree. :pfft:

So Superman now needs a "crutch" after just one film?

No, but there's a Justice League movie to make, so this show has to get on the road!
