Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

:lol

Well this is going to be the most expensive toy I've ever bought and I sort of question myself on such a huge purchase for something that is frivolous when you boil it down, but I love the vehicle so much that I find my sense of logic being overridden by the awesomeness.

All these things are frivolous though. Buying these toys in general is kind of stupid to me the more and more I think about it.

This Batmobile is just sort of an exclamation point to that though. We spend $180 - $300 on dolls, proclaiming that a big, plastic car that's $700 is crazy and wasteful is kind of a moot point. :lol

And yeah, this is the most expensive toy related thing I've ever bought too. But still, when I put it into the perspective that I never paid a thousand grand ($1000) for a a little custom Joker headsculpt that fits in the palm of my hand or hundreds to thousands on 1/6 clothes, I'd say I've done pretty well.

If I could go back in time to June 19, 1989 and meet myself as a teenager and tell him that one day you will own a 1:6 scale Batmobile but you will have to wait 24 years to get it I would freak the **** out.

It's on the truck, shouldn't be too long now... :impatient: :gah:

I'm still more excited for this arriving tomorrow than anything shown at SDCC today. Different strokes for different folks.

Tell me the 3 year old, watching Batman over and over again constantly on the vcr, that one day I'm going to be able to buy my own Michael Keaton and one day, the batmobile. If that doesn't send shivers down your spine then this item isn't for you

Re: Batman: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - SPECS & PICS

A year huh? Wow. We'll all be dead by then. :monkey2

Well at least we finally got to see the official specs and preorders go up. :yess:

2/23/12

If I could go back to Feburary 23rd, 2012 that I'd not only live past December 21st 2012 along with humanity, but also have to wait an additional 4-5 months on my Batmobile preorder . . .

. . . I wouldn't have been surprised at all.

You're right. We're kind of desensitized to this kind of stuff. However, as prices keep creeping up and up, I can see myself starting to significantly slow down and potentially retiring from the hobby at some point. I'll be glad that I got out with the Batmobile, though.

Exactly. Hell I'd be amazed to know I'd own a 1/6 Batman and Joker that would be lifelike and cost more than any toys I'd ever owned.

I'm going to quit soon, I can feel it. It's just all starting to feel the same to me.

I used to pull the trigger on things without thinking, now I scrounge for coupons and question the collecting hobby in general.

I pretty much got my pipe dream grails (T1 Terminator, Reeve Superman, '89 Batman, etc.) and then some. What else is there? :huh

Not much now unless you count awesome things from the future (that will always have an uphill battle to compare to icons from our childhoods.)

My last grails would be a HT Corporal Hicks redux and 1/6 scale Robotech figures.

I hear ya, just playing.

This is my most expensive single collectible as well.

It is what it is, i'm lower to middle class in my life to begin with so i'm always scrambling trying to figure out how i'm going to pull off collecting the stuff that pleases me.

Eventually most of us on here hit a ceiling, it gets to become too much stuff.

Cars, statues, figures, movies in the theater, dvd, books.

Eventually sacrifices have to be made, only the super elite wealthy would ever be able to own every single item, and is that even fun?

Having everything would look too congested for me.

This car is important for me, so I did what was necessary to own it.

We're all different, spend on what moves you inside.

Never bought 1/6 Joker socks for $200.00. :yess:

I'd rather have a new Reese personally, but even then it wouldn't be essential. Just another "oh, GOTTA HAVE IT".

That Tech Noir 1984 punk T-800 was far more important to me. I still can't believe they pulled that out of no where. That was a fun release.

This is where I'm pulling into now. Once I get this Batmobile I'll have my '89 Bats stuff done and once the '66 Bats stuff is out I'm pretty much done collecting.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

I don't think I will ever 100% quit collecting, it can be greatly diminished but there are items that could still entice me out of retirement.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

I'm just looking forward to actually getting it in hand for myself and talking about it with fellow freaks on here.

These pics from Asia and collectors that are just getting it for the first time is cool and all, but nothing will beat when the UPS (or FedEx or whoever) comes at your door with this thing.

I'm still trying to work out how I'm going to come home from work in time. I want to meet the carrier at the door to snag it before I'm criticized and nagged for getting one. I'm also trying to plan where I'm going to set it up for opening and assembly. Monday should be a pretty fun day.

I heard that bro, I plan on taking the day off of work when mine is scheduled to arrive and watching the batman on bluray!

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

I can't see myself ever fully quiting as well. I feel like this is one of those hobbies where once you're in, you're never going to fully get out of it. You can sell everything you have but sooner or later you'll see figures you really want and might even indulge in it again.

I'm grateful enough to have a wife who puts up and even finds some of these figures cool but I can tell I can't keep buying these forever and the excitement is not the same. Hopefully I can end it with 1-2 figures a year by the end of next year.

This thing is amazing! Batman was easy to get in. I just took off his boots. I saw the lights in the cockpit are just stunning in person. The batmobile fits great in the granas table with all the mods. Now I just need a place for my tumbler and bat pod.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Wow..very nice spot to display it in. I may need to get one of those tables and just display it in the living room.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

It's totally worth it. I think it's one of the best ways to show it off.
