Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

It's interesting that with it being out and obviously in some people's hand that no one has made a video of it???! Is there a conspiracy here? With other collectibles we get video way before photos and they are often provided way before the product is even release, in Japan, at least, before here in the U.S.;it just seems that this release including people that have had it for at least a week are being mysterious about it! I mean come on, people video review these things nowadays. What is going on????!!! :dunno.
On another subject, hoping for SSC to take my money today on this collectible, not sure why considering I'll be brown bagging my lunch for work and staying in the house for about a month in order to recover from this obscene purchase. :thud:
Yeah I keep checking for video reviews as well and so far, nothing. But I think this is a unique case in that this piece is so large and expensive that the usual suspects aren't getting one. "Creepy quiet guy" who always does unboxing videos of the figures obviously won't be stocking this. OMG and the other "bloggers" didn't receive one for review. Shipping costs are so astronomical that no one stateside overnighted one to have it ASAP - but thank goodness they didn't considering Sideshow is already shipping these.

It does look like a big toy though (as in: an upscaled admittedly beautiful cheaper toy).
There I've said it. Let the backlash begin.

I'm getting this monster too, so no reason for me to be negative. For the most part the pics I've see make it look like a large (very large) plastic toy.
yes, yes, I know that's just what it is..It doesn't "look" big in the pics, take it out of it's environment and you would have difficulty telling just what size it is.
That's down to the amount of detail/finish.
It's not a scaled collectors super replica. But I guess it really isn't that expensive considering what it is. :dunno
Hoping to be blown away in hand.
I know what you mean about it generally looking like a "big toy", but I'm not sure what could be done about it. I think it's kind of like the Hulk figure in that the simplicity of it leaves far less minute details to trick the eye into thinking it's seeing something other than a toy. The Tumbler to my eye actually looks far more plastic, but it has so many layers and pieces that when viewed on its own seems far less toy-like.

Regarding the Burtonmobile, I'm still not clear; is it actually painted with a semi-metallic finish or is it just semi-glossy black plastic?

I'm hoping its semi metallic paint rather than just plastic.

Question for jye4ever and DiFabio:

Where does Batman 89 rank among your favorite films of all time?

1. Terms of Endearment
2. On Golden Pond
3. Norma Rae
4. Punch Drunk Love
5. Batman 89

The lit up console looks great. The details are impressive.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

1.Superman 2 original
2. batman 89
3 x men original
4 spiderman 1 original
5 hulk 2 norton
I realy cant rank it top but the movie batman was the 1st to give us a somewhat real take on superhero's like superman and not cater the movie just to kids. 89 and reeve superman our the begining of a new era of super hero fillms to a whole nutha level of awesome.

:exactly:

I agree with this. People in Asia just started getting it in hand last week, right? And some of us in the US will only get it delivered this week, so it's still a little too fresh for most of those who you'd expect a decent video review from.

I'm also impatient for reviews, even though I'll have it soon enough. I like the video reviews, but I prefer to read written reviews and look at the corresponding still pics. I can't wait to read the detailed write-up that MWC Toys does for it.

Since he's your spare DX09 Batman, only for keeping in the car permanently, why does it matter to you if the body suit and cape get damaged? If he does get damaged from sitting too long it's not like you'll really notice unless you take him out and futz him for a standing display....which you won't--that's what the other Batman is for, right?

Yes but I bought a second DK Batman for my Batpod. Had him sitting on the Batpod for a year and a half without touching it. One day I went to move it and the leg just fell off, broke at the knee from stress and the rubber suit was cracking and tearing. I ended up replacing the body with a DX12.

On a related note, how great it is that Hot Toys have started timing their overseas releases with Sideshow's north-american release?

Is that the case, what other products has this occurred with.

Indy DX, but I think that was more planned because they knew the backlash coming.

In other news, just had my final payment go through for this! My kitchen table is about to become a whole lot more awesomer!

I seem to remember the same happening with Hot Toys Predator 2 City Hunter back in February, the last thing I bought.

Edit:Went back and checked and it was 2 weeks from the Hong Kong "blogger" photos to people having him in-hand from North America. So I was wrong about it being a simultaneous release, but the wait time has really diminished; seems like it used to take 2-3 months before you'd receive a Hot Toys figure from Sideshow after it had been released in Hong Kong.

Since i'm not a film snob I won't be including the usual list of domestic or foreign artsie fartsie avant garde cinema films that critics tell us are masterpieces.

Not judging if they're right or wrong, just trying to keep my answer simple.

This list is comprised of genre movies, not found on a Criterion Collection list. :lol

89 Batman is an important movie but not more important or less important than any of the other major milestones in movie history hence why lists are difficult and ultimately pointless.

My top 100 movies fluctuate so much that my list today will differ from tomorrow.

But I can at the very least claim that even with an ever changing list of favorite movies that 89 Batman floats in my top 25, never leaving that very tight space.

It's in good company alongside Raiders, T2, SW, ESB, TDK, Conan, Exorcist, LOTR Trilogy, Airplane, The Thing, Halloween, Jurassic Park, Avengers, Die Hard, Predator, STM 2, BTTF and other classics.
