Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

So then, Star Wars: Rebels, the new DISNEY animated series will have teens as it's central characters, because it features the "early days of the rebellion". This is very worrying BS. And a bad omen as to how Disney are going to handle the franchise. Teens, yup teens. Because everyone that we saw in SW:ANH were in the rebellion since they were 15. Jesus the logic of this is shocking. Uncle George? Come back, we can forgive the prequels...

Luke and Leia were around 15 or 16 in ANH. Han was around 25-30. What's the big deal?

Hell, Anakin was around 18 in ROTS with Padme a few years older.

Think Luke and Leia were more like 18 in ANH. Anakin was about 18 in AOTC and 21 in ROTS as far as I know.
Also I will be watching Rebels with hopes it's pretty good. I know my son will watch so that's exciting for me too.

So there were no middle age/adult rebels at the start of the rebellion? They were all teenagers who "grew" into the commanders and generals we saw in the OT? That's crazy stupid IMO. Sure there may have been youngsters joining the cause and growing into hardened rebels as there were in ANH. But to make the demographic teenage, just to get a new audience reeks of a $$ dumbdown of the worst kind IMO, something even Lucas didn't do. Sure he added a young girl to the Clone Wars cartoon for the same reason, but she was very much a fish out of water. The current info coming out is that Star Wars: Rebels will be a teen adventure. There may be some dark water ahead Star Wars fans...I have some confidence in JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy but not Iger...:monkey4

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Can I just put out the idea that alot of the reasons people may have been dissapointed in the PT also had to do with the pre existing ideas of Shadows of the Empire and the Zhan Trilogy, and that there will likely be just as large a base unhappy when they see things looking so differant from that outline they grew up with for 15 years changed so drastically again here.

I get that you can simply say, those are just books, but for alot of us older fans, for 10-15 years those books were all there was in terms of new star wars story and at the time I sure seem to remember them being pushed as cannon and were respectful of one another. Comics respecting book material, the fact x character existed and had relationships with y character etc. So I think alot of people will definately be expecting things like Thrawn or a Clone Emporer or Mara Jade and get a bit put off.

Having said that I'm all for a fresh take but certain things just make sense. One of these guys is going to have to have a kid obviously.

Well said. I think a few people here are so anti-EU that they aren't reading posts like this. I'm not expecting to SEE those things, I'd just prefer they don't insert things to contradict them just for the sake of doing so.

Sokay.. when abrams decides to retcon leia being luke's sister, and has them married, Plus makes vader surrvive the end of jedi, so he can be the badguy in the new trilogy since he want's to revere, but not honor the old trilogy, I'll be laughing all the way to the bank ;)

Let me fix that for you

This is Fisher a couple years ago when she was a Jenny Craig spokeswoman. There's only so much we can expect:

Seriously?! from the 2nd link...
"Last month, Mark was snapped clutching a burger and fries in a bag and rummaging through a street bin for a used cigarette end to smoke."

I find that hard to believe, not that he might smoke, but I doubt he is rummaging through trash for cigarette butts. Hate these rag publications.

Looks shopped.

Leia better be fat in this and in her slave outfit, or I'm not watching.
