The day is going to come when somebody hacks Microsofts servers to make a point about offline gaming and the lack of needing to log in. People are going to sit for a week only being able to watch blu rays.

Anonymous may heed the call.

Microsoft is trying to spy on you. (rather other interests, but MS is the puppet) Glad to see most folks can see through the BS.

I don't want anything. As I keep mentioning I'm weighing up the options from a neutral point of view. I own both systems and have went from one to the other my entire life (Atari/Sega/Nintendo/PS/MS)

I described my situation before, I'm positive that I can't be the only gamer that works full time, has an internet connection and does not care about trading games - which makes most of the negativity circling the XB1 a non-issue.

I may still easily go for the PS4. I also disagree about the exclusive title's. XB1 seems to have much more attractive launch titles. Killer Instinct in particular looks very promising being a fighting game fan.

If I'm honest I agree with you about the Xbox exclusives, I prefer them to the Ps4's & another big thing for me is Xbox get COD add on's before Ps4

The Same with BF4

And there got FIFA Ultimate team an exclusive

There my 3 favourite games. I've ordered the Ps4 1st though because I'm worried the One will flop but if goes all well for the One I will buy
both. I always planned on getting both but I did plan to get the One before the Ps4. Oh & I much prefer the Xbox controller to the Ps4.

Couldn't careless about the used game bit as I never buy used games

This is even a discussion? Playstation 4 no competition. I've always strongly disliked Xbox. While I've never really felt there was a computer system or software where I was the target market, I've always felt that Playstation was the game system for me. So Microsoft aside, I just prefer Sony. Our privacy doesn't really exist anymore, if you want to keep something secret keep it in your head.

Sony is going into this next generation of consoles smarter and hitting harder, already their launch titles and the line up of games looks better than Wii U and Xbox. I'm sure no one was thinking Sega was going to fail before Dreamcast launched, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was the beginning of the end of Microsoft's video

Wouldn't that be something? Microsoft has practically sent the hackers an invitation because of this entire issue. I don't have ill-wishes on anyone, since the PSN lockout in 2011 was extremely frustrating. But, at least as I was able to play my games offline. If Microsoft gets hacked, the Xbox One will essentially become a useless piece of furniture (or a Blu Ray player).

They'll do fine, but how successful they are will determine whether they change their policy. Since they will certainly sell out for a few months when it launches, it might not happen any time soon.

If you never liked the Xbox games you must be either a child or Japanese.

Again though I'm reading the DRM issues will be for exclusives only. The multi platform games will be up to the publisher on both platforms.

Both systems could equally end up the same in that regard.

It's a bit of a grey area.

So is the 'you can't lend a game to a friend only give it to them' thing and the 'you can't sell the game' thing upto the publishers too?

The poll numbers around the net are evidence enough that the new Xbox isn't resonating well with consumers. In fact, that's probably an understatement. But, unlike Sega, Microsoft is just "too big to fail". Even if their console is utterly trounced by the PS4 in the next generation, they can still make another console to reintroduce themselves in 10 years or so :lol.

Microsoft will never let that happen. They will press ahead and see how it goes. If they have to change or tweak a few things, they will.
eventually I see this being very similar to the current gen sales wise accept Nintendo could really suffer.
I kinda like that Microsoft has this vision for the future and the kinect is an awesome bit of kit that needs to be supported and used properly.
They are just going about it the wrong way and im sure there will be changes.

I guess it just depends on how fast they can implement those changes before their sales start to take a hit. I actually believe that they should consider delaying the release of the Xbox One until the next year - after they've reworked their DRM policies, and remade the hardware to account for physical disks.

If they did that, Sony could really damage their sales. If anything, I think they need to do the opposite and launch early. People on the fence and fanboys flirting with the ps4 could be swayed if it say hit the shops 4,5,6 weeks earlier. If its first 1/4 reflects poor sales numbers, you could see changes 6 months or so after launch.
I hope its great. competition is healthy and they both have great games.

:exactly: they can't wait that would be suicide. I know Sony say there fine about 2nd hand games but do you think MS have an agreement with the publishers to put codes on there Ps4 games so the Ps4 has the same situation about selling 2nd hand games? If that make sense :lol

that'd shut some people up :lol I could see the publishers coming back to sony for the same thing

Haha if it came out early, there's a chance I could buckle. Im a bit of a tech freak and love a new console. Throw in forza and Killer Instinct,
Very testing times :/

You're probably right about Sony having the advantage if Microsoft delays their launch - sort of like of what happened in the current generation, when Microsoft was able to take away early sales from the PS3 by launching the X-Box 360 a year earlier (although that's a more extreme case). But, if Microsoft launches too early, they would risk the chance of there not being any games to play on the console. The $499 price is also another thing to consider. If people realize that the PS4 (which is cheaper and with less DRM restrictions) is being released in only a matter of weeks after the Xbox One - I'd think they'd be likely to wait.

Although, we're just discussing hypothetical scenarios here. Have the launch dates for either console been revealed as yet? :dunno
