Re: Man of Steel

After Superman snapped his neck it should've been revealed that Zod was really Ma Kent that was disguised as Zod using Kryptonian cloaking technology. :horror

Zod is then shown laughing diabolically.

Superman then learns that he can never kill again.

Ultimate moment for him to scream "KNEEL" :rotfl

I was kinda pissed they didn't ref. that line at all.

Re: Man of Steel

I thought it was awesome when Superman killed Zod. I don't see why that's such a big deal, what else was he supposed to do? Let Zod live? :dunno

Everyone who didnt like it says the same thing thats this is isnt what they expected the film to be. do
Does the public really hold superman to such high standards?

Re: Man of Steel

Mark Waid > David Goyer

"Kingdom Come" is a better story than "Man of Steel" and speaks very directly to the neck breaking thing. In that story Kal quits because the world embraced a "hero" who was willing to kill.

Re: Man of Steel

I don't have a problem with him killing Zod. He has killed Zod before in the comics. Granted it was the Zod from another universe, but he still killed him. And I hpe Goyer uses that in the next film, to make Clark a better hero. He was put into an impossible situation and forced to make a huge sacrifice. Now lets see how that molds and shapes him.

From what we've heard from the interviews and Irish looks like its the idea. Use that act to build his character, he will probably be more carefull with life than ever since he basically commited genocide and lets not forget those innocent bystanders ^^

DBOK,
well the way they handled Clark got me.
Smallville treating him as a freak, how pa kent was so afraid the world would hurt his son that he died for him (the dog thing was a bit embarrassing i admit, saving a kid would have felt better).
You can feel the repressed anger bursting when he fought for the first time. He was not perfect and i liked it.
He's KAL on the way to become Superman.
Even Zods arc was cool, he was engineered to protect Krypton, his suicide by cop in the end was rough.
The guy lost everything, he had only rage.
Maybe it was the realistic dressing that got me.
Or all the father and son thing since i'm a father now.
I liked it. Its not perfect and i know it (moves way too fast).

We have to. Someone that powerful could easily destroy the world. So he has to show restraint in every way possible and that killing is never an option, because if you can kill one you can kill many. In the movie it seems that he has no other choice. In the comics Superman has killed Zod, but it messed him up mentally for a while. The movie superman seems alright, however.

And he end up killing someone too? If i remember correctly.

jye4ever,
just wait these artbook end up being discounted a fewmonth after release. :)

Re: Man of Steel

Should've just made Pa Kent have a heart attack, Superman calls 911, done.

Calling 911 wouldn't reveal his powers

The whole reveal to the world angle was just struggling to make sense.

The natural birth angle was handled better.

Make your own destiny type of thing.

Kal in MOS isn't even close to being the homicidal psycho that Magog was.

That said, you're absolutely right about Waid >> Goyer. Not even close. But I'm afraid he's burned too many bridges at DC by now.

But its been done before if comics cartoons superman has killed maybe it haunts him in the second movie.

Strawman argument. Kal in MoS has literally been in costume for 36hrs. In Kingdom Come he had been doing it for years. And Kal was broke Zod's neck to save lives. Magog killed Joker while he was in custody. Nowhere near the same.
