I cant believe so many people picked ps4 over xbox one. PS4 has absolutely no innovation other than a hardware upgrade and some gimmick online shared play.

On paper the X-box I agree does seem to be pushing the boundary's a little more whilst the PS4 seems to happy to wade in the "we are better for gaming" category and milk the bad rep MS is getting.

From watching both reveals my initial gut for both was -

X-box - Potential with a lot of serious problems.

PS4 - Same stuff with better graphics.

well the xbox demo looks amazing, the stick figure is 1:1 precise to the actual movement, leaps and bounds improvement over the original kinect and ps3 move, it finally achieved true motion capture, and the tech is still months away for them to refine further. I can say i havent been this excited for a new console since the snes days.

If the games utilize this tech fully, it will change the way we play video games...for the better. Just imagine tennis games, boxing/fighting, and new categories of games that isnt possible with a controller.. :panic:

ps: yes the heart rates, facial expression etc.. to me is all just gimmicks and pretty useless. The key here is the precise motion capture

Why on earth would I ever want to play Street Fighter, Blazblue, Guilty Gear, or Marvel with motion controls? Motion controls are not going to change gaming. It honestly never will. Let me air dash real quick by jumping to the side. So stupid. I can see someone just standing there doing shoryukens in the living room :slap

It will obviously extend out to much more given the accuracy. We could have FPS based on your body movements or entire characters based on the user. As mentioned before "minority report" style hand commands a gestures could be really cool.

The tech does seem quite impressive outside of the standard use "jumping around"

The only parts of my body that should be moving when I play my games are my thumbs, and perhaps the third leg if something sexy shows up on screen. I just wanna chillax and play my games without having to do any sort of exercises.

:exactly::exactly:

That's the way it should be.

If I wanted to play a fighting game with full body recognition, I can just grab my stuff and head to the gym to do some sparring. :dunno

Motion controlled gaming is cancer, virtual reality, that's a different thing, that's an entirely different thing, but we're not anywhere near that kind of gaming yet.

MS is not innovating.

They're definitely not innovating. The Kinect has been a gimmick, so far. I bet that Microsoft thought that it would be better to incorporate it into in the Xbox One - since no one would actually want to buy a Kinect after purchasing the console.

But to think, that if they simply left out Kinect, they would have been able to offer a cheaper system at launch :slap.

This is hilarious.

He starts by saying how great he is :lol

Then tells you not to listen to fanboys and that he's gonna give you the "truth" at which point he just bashes Sony for the rest of the vid :slap

Then goes on to say Sony know nothing about gaming or bluray :cuckoo:

Then starts on how all Xbox exclusives are better than Playstations, which might br true but the blatent fanboyism just makes you laugh

^I'm guessing that either mfoga or Solarsailor made that video :rotfl

No pot shots eh. :clap

You also can't read nor engage in any kind of normal conversation. No use writing back, I'm not into trolling.

Motion controlled gaming is cancer

I think things like touching your temple to activate night vision sound really cool plus all the other rumored uses. The potential is massive. Making the entire body your controller through subtle movements or voice commands sounds easier than flicking through a menu to me. I guess I'm just a little more open minded to the possibilities. They have barely scratched the surface.

About the possible applications of motion control: it's still left to be seen if developers would actually be able (or even interested) in incorporating such features into games.

There hasn't been anything truly note-worthy about the Kinect, aside from the awkward exercise games that have been making use of it.
